[The camera wobbled in and out of focus for anyone who happened to tune in that morning, and close observers would catch a glimpse of movement-- of trees, and of a very curious pair of eyes, glimmering in excitement, peering into the feed.]

--Tama-san, [A voice, a young man, said in an almost chiding tone.] I know you're excited, but you don't need to hang. all. over. me.

[He swung his arms, trying to free himself from from Tama's grip, but the momentum of the movement threatened to throw the both of them off balance.

Defeated, Rei stopped and sighed wearily.]

Alright, we can stop for a snack, although you'll lose your appetite at this--

[He broke off mid-complaint, eye widening when he noticed that the camera feed was live.

The moment of surprise, however, was short lived. Rei fussed with his glasses, suddenly adopting a cool, composed demeanor now that he realized that he had been noticed.]



Don't worry-- nothing's going on. We know exactly what we're doing.

[--The composed aura didn't last for long. A Mantyke, still young, fully appeared on screen and tackled the young man.

...Clearly, it didn't want lunch. It wanted to play.]

Well, we sure do know what he's wants! [Indicating the Mantyke, of course.] You've sure got yourself a lively one there! I bet he's all sorts of fun.

[Rei finally managed to peel Tamago off of him, heedless of the Mantyke's childish whining, and stared at the person on the other side of the feed. His cheeks had reddened in embarrassment, his glasses had fallen askew, and he looked positively harrassed.]

Uh..'fun' is one way to put it.

[Tamago whined and flapped his fins-- 'You need to loosen up!' he seemed to be saying, although the words themselves weren't understandable.]

[Feisty was definitely a good word to describe Tamago...]

He's got alot of energy. More than I expected. He's very unique.

We're shopping, [Rei said, peeking out from underneath Tamago's squirming figure.] There's a lot that we still need to prepare.

Call me crazy Rei, but your Mantyke doesn't really seem to be all that interested in shopping.

No, he doesn't-- he thinks that we should just be able to go camping like it was just that. The preparations bore him.

[Well this video is nothing short of adorable. Absolutely adorable.]

Well I know he knows what he's doing. And it's apparently getting you to give him exactly what he wants.

[Adorable? It was embarrassing-- Tamago seemed intent on making Rei's life as strange and chaotic as possible!

But, he actually gave her words some consideration when he managed to find the screen again. Tamago had some strange habits...]

Hm. Maybe. I knew he was young, but I hadn't expected him to act so much like a child...

[Somehow, Rei still managed to maintain a small degree of academic grace even though he was sprawled in the dirt with a Mantyke resting on his head.]

[Yuuna frowns slightly at the young man.]

Hey, if you knew he was young, why didn't you think he was gonna act like it? Honestly, man. What else would he act like? Kids will be kids, pokemon or not.

[Rei frowned, cheeks visibly flushing.]

I wasn't sure what to expect. There wasn't enough time for me to adequately research Pokemon before Tama-san and I met, but that's something we can fix easily enough if I can just do some thorough reading without the pages being ruined before I can finish the book.

[Tama flapped his fins, smacking Rei in the face in the process. His human did far too much reading for his tastes-- it was boring!]

[Cute girl...but, embarrassing situation. Rei took the route to cover that was the most familiar to him....

They're not when they weigh as much as a small child!

[Ace tuned in at the exact moment the trees had made their appearance, and he had kept looking after, not entirely sure what was going on besides hearing the voice on the other end. There was a little Petilil looking curiously at the feed besides him.

He smiled when he saw the mantyke though, it looked adorable]

[While Tama was indeed adorable, it was also easy to forget that both Mantyke and Human weighed the same amount. Normally this was no problem...except when Tama decided to hang all over Rei's head.

Like it was at that moment. Sometimes the Mantyke acted like he was a much smaller creature.

Glasses askew, Rei found the video feed and grinned in embarrassment when he realized what all had been seen.]

Thanks. It was a happy accident that has been an adventure ever sense!

Maybe you can try telling your Matyke that you're not big or strong enough to carry her around all over the place?

I tried-- Tama seems to think that it'll be no problem once we get in the water...

[Being tackled by a Mantyke was entirely the story of Rei's current position in life. After spending his adolesence in the quiet comfort of academia, being picked by a pokemon on a foray to the habitat with a classmate was the very last thing he had intended.

Especially since said pokemon was a water-type-- and Rei didn't know how to swim.

Both the young man and pokemon stopped flailing when the young woman approached, looking up in unison with matching looks of surprise.]

Makoto-san?

[Oh gosh, it was a classmate too!

...how embarrassing...]
