First Dive | Video
[The camera wobbled in and out of focus for anyone who happened to tune in that morning, and close observers would catch a glimpse of movement-- of trees, and of a very curious pair of eyes, glimmering in excitement, peering into the feed.]
--Tama-san, [A voice, a young man, said in an almost chiding tone.] I know you're excited, but you don't need to hang. all. over. me.
[He swung his arms, trying to free himself from from Tama's grip, but the momentum of the movement threatened to throw the both of them off balance.
Defeated, Rei stopped and sighed wearily.]
Alright, we can stop for a snack, although you'll lose your appetite at this--
[He broke off mid-complaint, eye widening when he noticed that the camera feed was live.
The moment of surprise, however, was short lived. Rei fussed with his glasses, suddenly adopting a cool, composed demeanor now that he realized that he had been noticed.]
Don't worry-- nothing's going on. We know exactly what we're doing.
[--The composed aura didn't last for long. A Mantyke, still young, fully appeared on screen and tackled the young man.
...Clearly, it didn't want lunch. It wanted to play.]

[He glanced up at the young Mantyke for a brief moment before returning his gaze to the strange girl. This conversation suddenly became interesting.]

[Both Mantyke and Trainer stared at the blue haired girl through the feed, fully attentive. Suddenly, many of Tama's quirks made a little more sense in Rei's mind.]
Thanks for thinking of that, [He said, smiling.] We never would have met if it weren't for you...I hope his mother knows that he's being well taken care of.

[Although he knew that the chances of such a meeting were slim, Rei felt it was something of a responsibility to let Tama's parents know that he was okay.]

[Both young man and pokemon squirmed closer to the screen, both of their faces crowding into the view.]
Really? You really think so?

[He knew the odds were slim, and that she really had to be something else to keep up with a Mantine, but don't go get a guy's hopes up and then say 'probably'!]

[Rei broke off into laughter when he caught the implication.]
Ahahaha-- no, no. Don't misunderstand! I'm just a regular person. There's nothing special in my family at all!

[Squid Girl points, presumably toward wherever she last saw the Mantyke playing around.]

Tama simply looked up and chirped happily. He was water/flying, thanks, but he also appreciated the efforts to possibly find his mother out in the wild seas.]

[He pushed up his glasses, regaining his composure, and offered the young looking girl a warm, confident smile.]
There's no reason to keep you two separated. Just don't wind him up too much, all right?

[He brought a hand to a chin, idly wondering if this is what parents felt like when they were arranging for a playdate with a neighbor or giving instructions to a babysitter.]
