Spring Fling

For those who fear the encroaching flowers herald events of a slightly more urgent nature, perhaps it isn't really paranoia so much as sensibility.

Two days after they first appear, every single flower in Union blooms overnight. The sight is incredible - the entire city is blanketed in rainbow waves of color, and the scent of the flowers themselves is quite fragrant. The strange pink blossoms are particularly attractive.

For many of the residents of Union, however, the flowers may not be the first thing on their minds as things go a bit chaotic.

1. Enlightened with a Bug, Fairy, or Grass typing will become subject to extreme emotion swings. Primarily, the emotions will be positive, like overwhelming ecstasy, a sensation of giddiness, and a desire to spread cheer amongst their friends. These Enlightened may also suffer from confusion, an excessive amount of energy, and general loopiness. When not in sunlight, they'll swing towards the negative end of the emotional spectrum.

2. Bug, Grass, and Fairy type Pokémon have taken it upon themselves to settle into this new paradise, with the Bug types descending in swarms from above, and the Grass and Fairy types wandering in through the gates whenever the guards aren't looking. Though not violent, they'll be generally insensitive to the trouble they cause for the humans and will react negatively to anyone or anything harming the flowers.

3. Other strange Pokémon have also wandered into Union and while most appreciate the gentle sunlight, a few of the more mischievous have decided that the city could use some more variety. Each individual Castform may alter the weather between sun, rain, and hail within a certain area of the city ranging about two blocks. If Castform is creating Rain or Hail, Fairy, Bug, and Grass Enlightened will respond in a negative manner.

4. Allergies will be more fun to deal with than ever.

5. Finally, the following event Pokémon will be temporarily available to be bonded with as an extra bonus for this week. Please respond in the Map and Wild Pokemon post as per the usual to claim these. The level range is 5-8.

This event will end on April 13th. You may use this post as an IC mingle or make your own entries as you wish. If your character is a Fairy/Bug/Grass Enlightened and you prefer not to play the effects, you may opt-out.

[Something in the air feels different in the direction that Bolt talks off in, an almost melodic patter carrying in the wind. Is that hail?]

[Jason follows after Pikachu. He doesn't want to be left behind after all. He stops first though and snatches up his little spider pokemon. No sense leaving him to roll in the flowers. Peter clicks in protest but ends up perched on Jason's shoulder and seems content after that.

By the time he catches up with Bolt, the flowers around him are being hit by the hail that is starting to drop. Jason looks around with curiosity.]

Hail? Why's it hailing?

Pika?

[Bolt looks over his shoulder at Jason. He's not sure either, at least not yet. But the flowers aren't making it easy to sniff anything out.]

[Bolt wouldn't have to look far, a strange spiral shaped Pokémon dancing through the sky, the hail storm following behind it. It doesn't seem to have noticed Jason or Bolt just yet.]

[Bolt does eventually wise up and LOOKS up, spotting the Pokemon.]

PiKA!

[The Pikachu points and Jason follows his gaze towards the little spiral pokemon floating through the sky and trailing hail.]

Huh. That's an odd looking pokemon. It looks kind of like a storm cloud. That hail can't be good for the flowers though.

[Pikachu shrugs. Probably not, but he's more interested in finding out more about this intrusive, storm cloud pokemon. He scampers ahead a bit and calls out to the Pokemon.]

Pi! Pika pi pika?

[Hey! What do you think you're doing? seems to be the gist of the question]

[The Castform stops and hovers in the air, staring down at the Pikachu.

It was having fun, of course! But it saw that a lot of the humans here were having problems with the pollen, so it thought that it would help! Castform is a helper!]

[Bolt's ears dropped slightly. Well...that was new. He tilts his head back to Jason.]

Pi.

[Jason didn't understand Castform, but due to his connection with Pikachu he got the sense of things.]

So you're not trying to cause trouble then?

[Not at all! It shakes its entire body to dictate that no, it was not, in fact, a trouble maker. The flowers were pretty, but they were trouble for the people. So hail! Generally, it seemed to like people.]

Huh.

[Well that was interesting. Jason wasn't sure what he'd been expecting from the pokemon but his efforts were almost admirable.]

Well that's pretty considerate of you actually. How long have you been at it?

[It dances happily in the air, doing a bit of a back flip before settling into swaying in place.

For a while now. Since it found all the humans, at least.]

[Jason wasn't sure he could say he'd ever seen a cute cloud before. This thing was quickly proving itself to be very adorable. Bolt wasn't quite as impressed of course, he almost never is, and was growing bored.

He'd thought he'd be getting some action here, jeeze.]

Pika pi?

[Jason looks down at his Pikachu. He can feel Pikachu's boredom through their connection.]

What do you mean can we go? We just met this guy and he's wanting to help out Union. That's admirable.

Pi? Pika pika pi!

[Bolt didn't see how just killing flowers with hail was so impressive. Didn't people like flowers?]

[If Jason and Bolt were going to leave, the Castform was just going to keep doing what it's doing.]

[Jason was losing Bolt's attention and he knew it. He thoughtfully considered the Castform for a moment before deciding to just go for it.]

Hey, you like Union, right? Do you want to stick around?

[The Castform pauses. It hadn't thought of that before. But there were lots of interesting things, so yes, it would like to stay! It shakes its whole body up and down, as if nodding.]

[Jason smiles then and activates the Warp Band. Bolt huffs but decides he doesn't get much say in new people to Jason's expanding team.]
