Spring Fling

For those who fear the encroaching flowers herald events of a slightly more urgent nature, perhaps it isn't really paranoia so much as sensibility.

Two days after they first appear, every single flower in Union blooms overnight. The sight is incredible - the entire city is blanketed in rainbow waves of color, and the scent of the flowers themselves is quite fragrant. The strange pink blossoms are particularly attractive.

For many of the residents of Union, however, the flowers may not be the first thing on their minds as things go a bit chaotic.

1. Enlightened with a Bug, Fairy, or Grass typing will become subject to extreme emotion swings. Primarily, the emotions will be positive, like overwhelming ecstasy, a sensation of giddiness, and a desire to spread cheer amongst their friends. These Enlightened may also suffer from confusion, an excessive amount of energy, and general loopiness. When not in sunlight, they'll swing towards the negative end of the emotional spectrum.

2. Bug, Grass, and Fairy type Pokémon have taken it upon themselves to settle into this new paradise, with the Bug types descending in swarms from above, and the Grass and Fairy types wandering in through the gates whenever the guards aren't looking. Though not violent, they'll be generally insensitive to the trouble they cause for the humans and will react negatively to anyone or anything harming the flowers.

3. Other strange Pokémon have also wandered into Union and while most appreciate the gentle sunlight, a few of the more mischievous have decided that the city could use some more variety. Each individual Castform may alter the weather between sun, rain, and hail within a certain area of the city ranging about two blocks. If Castform is creating Rain or Hail, Fairy, Bug, and Grass Enlightened will respond in a negative manner.

4. Allergies will be more fun to deal with than ever.

5. Finally, the following event Pokémon will be temporarily available to be bonded with as an extra bonus for this week. Please respond in the Map and Wild Pokemon post as per the usual to claim these. The level range is 5-8.

This event will end on April 13th. You may use this post as an IC mingle or make your own entries as you wish. If your character is a Fairy/Bug/Grass Enlightened and you prefer not to play the effects, you may opt-out.

[As a result of all of this, both Goodall and Martena were super antsy to get out and enjoy the flowers. After much bugging, Hiroshi finally consented, heading out with the two... only to find WAY more wild Pokemon out here enjoying the flowers out here than he'd expected. Uh.]

Takuro, this is... pretty bizarre, isn't it?

[Takuro nods a bit. Goodall and Martena don't seem to mind, though, as they muck around the flowers and the vines in the good old sunshine!]

The day after his grandparents' party, Feliks fully expects to wake up exhausted and drained. Like, the food and dancing was fun, but the trying not to end up somehow engaged if he looked at a girl for too long by accident was a bit harrowing, and drawn-out social stuff can be really tiring for him.

But then he opens his eyes with his room filled with sunlight, and wow oh gods everything is just super gorgeous!

Today is a good day. And good days call for good clothes! None of that sensible nonsense his grandparents push him into every time they want to show off. He's way better at showing off! Showing off requires more flowers! Flowers on the white sleeves of his loose, lacy white shirt, flowers bright and eye-catching on the black of his fitted black bodice and the black skirt that falls just beneath his knees... And the skirt is just too black to wear by itself, so he goes ahead and adds a bright, colorful apron and some tall black boots before tearing out the door, petticoats flashing out slightly as he runs, a curious Exeggcute trailing behind him.

Going downstairs makes him a little anxious, but then he's in the sun again, and wow! Gods how pretty can everything be, right? Jadwiga teleports out to hand him Huzar and scold him for forgetting her, but he just smiles at her, wraps the little Dratini around his neck, and continues on his merry way, sticking some flowers in his hair and behind Huzar's ear-thing and on some bystanders, dancing around public squares and chatting with everyone who crosses his path.

[ Because this was enough to make him sneeze, and he's been around a particularly strong smelling flower for... a rather long time, Duke has set to being helpful while his floette floats about in this sunshine.

Simple cloth masks. He offers them a little wearily to anyone who looks like they're sniffling. ]

[ It is such a beautiful day. Ib, being part grass but only secondarily, felt perfectly content and happy outside. While she's usually so careful and thoughtful about everything she doesn't seem to be giving any thought to the sudden shift in the city.

Ib is sitting outside Garry's house weaving flowers together while her Bellsprout, Budew, and Spinarak friends scurry about enjoying the sun and flowers all around. At least there's one unaffected among them, a Girafarig who already has a flower crown hanging off her horns. She stays close to Ib and tries to keep watch in case something happens. ]

[Hey Floette, meet another Floette? She's zooming from one flower to the other, giggling and sometimes hiding in them]

[There's a Kirlia doing piruoettes all over the city today. And I literally mean all over the city, since her trainer is chasing her and she teleports whenever Rise almost catches up.]

[Rise really wants to stop and enjoy the flowers and sunshine, but right now she's just trying to track down her ecstatic partner.]

[Chie's out for a run with her new buddy Gow the Skiddo, who seems to be possessed of nearly endless reserves of energy with all the flowers growing everywhere. As it stops to smell one of them, however, a tiny little Flabébé pops up. Gow hops back, but the fairy seems entirely more concerned with Chie herself.]

Uh... hi there!

[The fairy lets out a squeak, its tiny cheeks flushing pink as it ducks down and hides behind its flower. There's a brief rustling sound, and when it comes back up, it's got another flower in one of its hands, which it offers to Chie.]

...For me?

[The Flabébé nods. Blinking curiously, Chie takes the flower and smells it.]

It's really nice! Thank you!

[It giggles and shyly hides behind the stem of its flower again. Looks like someone's got a crush. Chie, for her part, just looks confused.]

Hmm... I wonder if I could get a two queen hive going. This thing's a different species than Beedrill, though. Would it even work?

[Sollux is busy musing to himself about bees again. He's encountered the rare female Combee, and his mind is already abuzz with new plans for expanding his hives outside the city.

Thankfully, his Beedrill doesn't seem to view the newcomer as competition, and is happily flitting back and forth between the various sweet-smelling flowers around the city while the Combee trails along after it.]

Kaido's watching from not too far away with a kind of smirk. But he looks pretty dumb with his sunglasses so you can probably pay him back]

Chie does eventually notice Kaido smirking at her, though.]

Ib isn't much for chatting, even in the best of times, she'll listen but she rarely has the need to say much. However she will accept a flower happily and without question.

In return she holds out the flower crown she had just finished making. It's not anything amazing but it is flowers woven into a circle.

[Wow, isn't today just beautiful? Mari certainly thinks so- as does the little Combee that is flitting around her head and cheerfully egging her on. There's a somewhat distant look in her eyes and a huge grin on her face as she walks around with a huge bouquet of flowers in her arm, nodding at the Combee's rather insistent little humming.]

Yes, this is a wonderful idea! I'm sure the house will look much better with all of these~ Everyone will like it, I'm sure of it~

[Her new friend buzzes in agreement, occasionally darting off to pluck up another flower and deposit it in Mari's arms. And no one notices the muffled growling of 'I told you so' in the distance.]

[You know who notices the growling? Scraggy notices the growling. He's kind of cowering behind Nidoking because oh god fairy types everywhere help.

Kaido, on the other hand, decided to brave the fairy invasion to keep an eye on Mari. He's noticed something was off with Floette earlier (she kind of flew away to god knows where, but he trusts her to find her way back, and if it comes to it he can always use the warp band to call her back), and has been looking for Mari, only to find his suspicions confirmed.

At least he went out equipped this time. By which I mean he's got wide sunglasses on]

[When she sees him, all thoughts of her goal are momentarily forgotten in favor of saying hello.]

Heyyyy Tadashi~ Isn't it just lovely out? [Then she seems to remember that a) he asked her a question, and b) she was still holding the flowers.] Oh, yes! Don't you think they'll brighten the place up? Kirlia's out getting some too~ I think.

[ Another Floette! Laulyse flies over with hers - she's much to fond of the red-orange lily to let it go to explore others, probably because hers smells the best regardless.

[Garry's just arriving home after buying some fruit or something at the market. With bag in arm and Lette on his shoulder he watches Ib on approach and gives her a small pat of the head. It's really warm and beautiful outside.]

[Simon never considered himself a gardener, really, but for the past day or so he, Kojiro the Scyther, and Tsurugi the Honedge have been busy chopping vines off Simon's home. Sure, all these flowers were nice and it was great to see so much color (especially since seven years of gray doesn't go away so easily), but sometimes it was a bit... obtrusive. Like the vines directly in front of his door. Not okay.]
