Spring Fling

For those who fear the encroaching flowers herald events of a slightly more urgent nature, perhaps it isn't really paranoia so much as sensibility.

Two days after they first appear, every single flower in Union blooms overnight. The sight is incredible - the entire city is blanketed in rainbow waves of color, and the scent of the flowers themselves is quite fragrant. The strange pink blossoms are particularly attractive.

For many of the residents of Union, however, the flowers may not be the first thing on their minds as things go a bit chaotic.

1. Enlightened with a Bug, Fairy, or Grass typing will become subject to extreme emotion swings. Primarily, the emotions will be positive, like overwhelming ecstasy, a sensation of giddiness, and a desire to spread cheer amongst their friends. These Enlightened may also suffer from confusion, an excessive amount of energy, and general loopiness. When not in sunlight, they'll swing towards the negative end of the emotional spectrum.

2. Bug, Grass, and Fairy type Pokémon have taken it upon themselves to settle into this new paradise, with the Bug types descending in swarms from above, and the Grass and Fairy types wandering in through the gates whenever the guards aren't looking. Though not violent, they'll be generally insensitive to the trouble they cause for the humans and will react negatively to anyone or anything harming the flowers.

3. Other strange Pokémon have also wandered into Union and while most appreciate the gentle sunlight, a few of the more mischievous have decided that the city could use some more variety. Each individual Castform may alter the weather between sun, rain, and hail within a certain area of the city ranging about two blocks. If Castform is creating Rain or Hail, Fairy, Bug, and Grass Enlightened will respond in a negative manner.

4. Allergies will be more fun to deal with than ever.

5. Finally, the following event Pokémon will be temporarily available to be bonded with as an extra bonus for this week. Please respond in the Map and Wild Pokemon post as per the usual to claim these. The level range is 5-8.

This event will end on April 13th. You may use this post as an IC mingle or make your own entries as you wish. If your character is a Fairy/Bug/Grass Enlightened and you prefer not to play the effects, you may opt-out.

[There's a Kirlia doing piruoettes all over the city today. And I literally mean all over the city, since her trainer is chasing her and she teleports whenever Rise almost catches up.]

[Rise really wants to stop and enjoy the flowers and sunshine, but right now she's just trying to track down her ecstatic partner.]

[ Oh, oh, oh! She remembered her, this time it looked it was the other way around with partner tracking. Due to the cheerful influence of the event, Arietta is much more chipper and social than she usually is. ]

Are you having trouble with your Pokemon?

She doesn't normally run off like this...

Well, not exactly like this.

Maybe she found something interesting; with all the plants?

I wish she'd just tell me instead of teleporting off, though...

[notgloomy]

Maybe she is doing it like a game. My sister does that sometimes.

[somnambulatory]

[Meanwhile, Jinxie is just stumbling around in a haze. For once, though, it's not because she's sleepwalking.]

Ah... ah...

[Her head tilts back as she squints hard, trying to hold it in...]

...c-choo!

[Stupid allergies. She rubs at her eyes.]

[Rise briefly stops in her pursuit of her Pokémon, since it's not like Himiko's doing something dangerous - just irritating.]

Are you okay, Jinxie?

[somnambulatory]

[sniffle]

It's all the flowers...

[celebrity_commentator]

I didn't realize you had allergies. To be honest, it's getting to be a little much even for me with all the pollen...

[somnambulatory]

Uh huh. Just a little. I usually don't have to worry much. But this...

[celebrity_commentator]

It's a little crazy, yeah. I wonder what's going on...

[somnambulatory]

I hope it clears up soon.

[Spring~ Spring~ Spring!

Kirlia, have you ventured far? There seems to be a Pokemon concert. A little stage with a large puffball setting things up.]

[celebrity_commentator]

[Himiko pauses when she comes across the little stage. She knows these things always get her trainer's full and undivided attention, and she's curious enough to stop her ecstatic run around the City to see what this other Pokémon is doing.]

[second_destiny]

[Suddenly DIVE FROM THE ALLEY!

Asemu seems to have anticipated the Kirlia's movement. Sometimes it's handy coming from a family renowned for its Psychic-type Enlightened.]

[celebrity_commentator]

[Kirlia's specialties are sensing others' intentions and emotions. It can give them super-Pokémon reactions at times...but only if they are focused. Himiko is certainly not, and is pinned by the quick actions of the Ranger. Needless to say, she protests loudly and tries to poke Asemu in the face.]

[Rise runs up a little ways behind, starting to run out of breath.]

Are you both...okay...?

[second_destiny]

[Even that would be of limited help against Asemu here. He can prove to be unreadable sometimes, even with psychic powers.]

Yeah, we're fine! I've done a lot worse.

[He climbs to his feet, still gripping the Kirlia.]

Just part of being a ranger.

[celebrity_commentator]

[Himiko struggles, but frankly she's been known to lose slap-fights with a Chansey, and she's not willing to bust out real Psychic attacks on a human she knows.]

Thank you...I don't know what's gotten into her, but this is the first time I've caught up all day.

It's happened with some others, too. I caught two other Pokémon for people before this one.

[He hands Himiko over to her trainer.]
