Spring Fling

For those who fear the encroaching flowers herald events of a slightly more urgent nature, perhaps it isn't really paranoia so much as sensibility.

Two days after they first appear, every single flower in Union blooms overnight. The sight is incredible - the entire city is blanketed in rainbow waves of color, and the scent of the flowers themselves is quite fragrant. The strange pink blossoms are particularly attractive.

For many of the residents of Union, however, the flowers may not be the first thing on their minds as things go a bit chaotic.

1. Enlightened with a Bug, Fairy, or Grass typing will become subject to extreme emotion swings. Primarily, the emotions will be positive, like overwhelming ecstasy, a sensation of giddiness, and a desire to spread cheer amongst their friends. These Enlightened may also suffer from confusion, an excessive amount of energy, and general loopiness. When not in sunlight, they'll swing towards the negative end of the emotional spectrum.

2. Bug, Grass, and Fairy type Pokémon have taken it upon themselves to settle into this new paradise, with the Bug types descending in swarms from above, and the Grass and Fairy types wandering in through the gates whenever the guards aren't looking. Though not violent, they'll be generally insensitive to the trouble they cause for the humans and will react negatively to anyone or anything harming the flowers.

3. Other strange Pokémon have also wandered into Union and while most appreciate the gentle sunlight, a few of the more mischievous have decided that the city could use some more variety. Each individual Castform may alter the weather between sun, rain, and hail within a certain area of the city ranging about two blocks. If Castform is creating Rain or Hail, Fairy, Bug, and Grass Enlightened will respond in a negative manner.

4. Allergies will be more fun to deal with than ever.

5. Finally, the following event Pokémon will be temporarily available to be bonded with as an extra bonus for this week. Please respond in the Map and Wild Pokemon post as per the usual to claim these. The level range is 5-8.

This event will end on April 13th. You may use this post as an IC mingle or make your own entries as you wish. If your character is a Fairy/Bug/Grass Enlightened and you prefer not to play the effects, you may opt-out.

[ That...gives Castform pause (it freezes, so to speak, halfway to freezing). And while frozen, it looks down and notices Sewaddle. Oh. ]

Form?

[ Slowly this Castform changes color, shifting to its Sunny form. Two and two haven't quite made four yet, but it wants to cheer Sewaddle up all the same. ] Form!

[ Unfortunately, this also means you get a blast of sun right to the face, Floette. Good luck with that. ]

[Ouch--okay that's a bit too harsh.

On the other hand, it brings her spirits back, so she takes it better than the rain. Shielding herself with her flower.

Thanks! Um, maybe a bit less strong?.

....Form.

[ Gotcha. Here comes the sun, just a bit less strong. These flowers it was looking after need that just as much as they need water, too...

Sewaddle's eyes are shining, however. There is a warm thing. And he made a new friend. Turning to the greenery all around them, he harvests two leaves and offers them to the Castform and Floette. Let's all make up and be friends. As proof of this, he'd like to decorate you. ] Sewa!

[... awwwwww. Thanks! She's putting it on her head, tucking it on her brow like a crown. And thanking Castform too, this really is a nice sun. She could bask in it aaaaall day!]

[actsmagnificent]

[ Sewaddle can do one better than that! Grabbing a flower that's dropped from its vine, he applies a bit of sticky silk to it and attempts to affix it to Floette so both you and your flower can have a pretty blossom. ] Waddle. Sewa wa.

[ Castform considers his work here done; accepting his own leaf, he grants the pair a bit more sunlight and then bobs off to look after more flowers. Hopefully he won't upset anyone else... ]

[Wow. She feels so pretty. So pretty!

Twirling and giggling.

She notices Castform leaving and gives him a good bye wave, before turning back to Sewaddle.

Did you come to the city just today? Or were you staying with a human, or in that tower with all the other pokemon?]

[actsmagnificent]

Waddle. [ Sewaddle puts a leg to his mouth as he debates the question. He's.....from the forest, but he is in this loud place now, because he decided he liked a human he found. ] Sewa.....wa!

[ A gesture and a jump. He likes a big, tall human! Who really needs him to look after it. Do you have a human? What is your human like?

And do they want flowers??? ]

[kaidont]

[Yes! She has a human too, and he's tall too! And he juuuust evolved so he's been cranky, but she's been making flower crowns for everybody in the team, including him.

Do you need help finding your human?]

[actsmagnificent]

[ Sewaddle thinks this offer over. Is his human going to really appreciate what a lovely, wonderful day it is....? But the thought of said human being grumpy when everybody else is so happy clinches it. He nods and takes one of Floette's teeny little hands in his own teenly little stubs. ]

Sewa sewa. [ Let's look for our humans together. And then make them happy!

He sparkles a bit as he says it. Apparently that's contagious, and he caught it from Haruka. ]

[kaidont]

[Yeah! And maybe we can make a flower crown for your human too!]

[actsmagnificent]

[ That would be so wonderful. Sewaddle is starry-eyed. ] Waddle....

[ Which way should we go first??? There's so many pretty flowers everywhere! ]

[kaidont]

[Hmmm... well she can find hers pretty easily if she needs to, since she can fly... so maybe look for yours first? And they can pick up flowers along the way!

So where did you see them last?]

[actsmagnificent]

[ At this, Sewaddle looks away. His back few legs kick at the paving stones modestly. See....the thing is....Well...

He might exactly not have gotten separated from his human, per se. He might have wandered away from his human's home and then gotten lost. ] Wad.

[kaidont]

[... oh. Well! Maybe if they start going towards the part of town with all the home towers, they'll run into them! Come on, friend, let's try this!

She's taking the lead. She'd carry you there flying, but she's too small :( ]

Sewaddle!

[ Fortunately, something about today has Sewaddle feeling extra energetic! He will hurry to catch up, eagerly dogging Floette's heels. They're going on an adventure, this is so exciting. ]

[kaidont]

[So tell her about your human! She is very very curious, and doesn't know much beyond "tall"]

[actsmagnificent]

[ His human? Hm. Sewaddle puts on his best thinking face. ] Wa wa. Sewaddle.

[ His human is....well, not as nice as its friends, who are also very pretty. But he's met so many nice humans through hanging out with it, and he's allowed to tag along when his human goes out into the sunlight, and being with it makes him feel safe because there's no way anything could mess with his human and live!

Also, it lets him make it pretty. This is very, very important. Do you get to decorate your human? Because if not, your flower crown idea is an excellent one, as you are really missing out. ]

[Floette giggles at your pride in your human's strength, Sewaddle. They must be really strong indeed.

She thinks her human is very strong too. She really likes fighting with him, it's fun, and they make a good team!

He doesn't often let her pretty him up... or let anyone, really. He doesn't really care about being pretty. But another of the humans she lives with is reaaaaaaaally pretty and a fairy type too so sometimes she brings in flowers]

[ That sounds amazing, you are so lucky! Perhaps they should engineer a meeting between their humans someday, too. They sound so similar - both so tall and dependable and strong - that he bets they'll get along....

And then, as they reach an intersection, gasp. ] Sewaddle swa!

[ There are so many flowers down this street! Let's take this one instead! His human's house isn't going anywhere....wherever it is. ]

I'M SO SORRY SEWADDLE

[--oh. Oh yeah that's. Yeah.

[ FLOWERS. Flowers everywhere! Sewaddle runs to the nearest bunch and eagerly begins picking up petals and blossoms that have dropped from the over-abundant greenery. He then begins sticking them all over himself, with a glance up at Floette to see what his friend's opinion is of this "outfit" so far. ]

Waddle?

Well, more like, "i'm sorry your humans probably won't stand each other" oops

[Hmmm... it looks good, but maybe with a bit more flair...

... here, help her stick those two petals together here... and those there...]

[ Hey, what are you doing....Oh, oh huh, that does look good...

But it also tickles! Sewaddle wriggles back and forth. ] Sewa sewa!

[Aaaaand look! You now have a pretty new skirt, and a proper petal hat!

Don't you look dashing?]

[ Sewaddle wiggles a bit more, testing his range of movement in this new outfit. But he feels so very free and dapper in it! (The hat is a particularly nice touch.)

Clapping his front legs together, he cheers. ] Sewa swaddle!

[ He will even twirl to make the skirt pouf out. This has somehow turned into the best day ever, and you are a mad genius. Do you want him to make you something too? ]
