[After visiting the council and seeking permission to stay in Union City, Renko was more than pleased with their answer. They'd even given her one of those Warp Band devices she'd seen most people around the city wear. Needless to say, she looks thrilled once she gets it all figured out and starts recording.]

Hey, this thing isn't as hard to figure out as I thought it would be! That's great!

So it's pretty obvious that I'm not from around here. That aside, my name's Renko Usami, and I've decided to stay here! It's quite a bit different than what I'm used to in most ways.

[She pauses for a moment, debating what to say next, all the while counting the seconds away in her head. She needed to make a good impression on these people. She hoped she was doing a good job.]

I'd really like to learn more about all of you. Your stories, culture, technology, any of it, really. Is there a library I can check out? Other than that, any advice at all would be appreciated, especially with exploring some of the areas outside the city. It didn't seem so bad on the way here, but I was in a group then. I'm guessing going solo would be a very different experience.

Anyway, that's it for now. Thank you for allowing me to stay in your city.

I am! My specialty lies in Physics, but I do my best to learn about other fields as well.

Either would be great! I'm interested to see how different the university here is from the one back home.

[ Wow. That ... is not not what a tail end drop out knows about, so ] What's physics even mean, anyway? It's nothing like psychics, right?

How to explain it...

[Renko pauses for a moment, trying to think of the simplest way to explain Physics.]

Okay. Physics is primarily the study of properties of matter and energy. Everything in this world and beyond is made up of matter, so you could say that it's the study of everything, but we mostly focus on the interactions with other things.

Like the transfer of energy between colliding objects. Heat, sound, electricity. All of these things fall under the category of Physics.

[ Energy...? Heat, sound electricity. So basically, it's a study of special attacks? She rationalizes it like that, but that just makes her wonder why it's got "physical" in the name. Either way, it's too heady for someone like her, but explained like that - well, she just whistles ]

Huh, sounds complicated. Still, good you got a passion and good on you for getting permission to keep it up here.

Believe me, it gets much more complicated than that.

[Don't get her started on string theory or anything like that.]

It's something that affects nearly everything we do every day.

I could see that. Like it's a big part've battle theory, at the least.

[ She might be thinking too narrow ]

That's one way to look at it, I suppose.

Well, what do I know. I never finished the school here anyway.

[ And she sighs, rolling her shoulders ]

That's a shame. You really should go back if you can.

'Ve got other responsibilities I'm handling now... honestly, the only thing I gotta study's some species of pokemon you never see in the city 'n that's more learn by doing.

Well, it's your life to with as you please, I suppose.

Might be right though - ... Anyway, right now, this here's the upper end of the shopping area. We're not at the main spots yet, but this's where a lotta the homemade pokemon food is.

Alright, that's good to know. Some Pokémon do have special dietary needs.

[As she speaks, Renko's also jotting down some notes. Mostly just landmarks and whatnot so she's able to find these places again relatively easily.]

Is there a particular shop you frequent?

None of these, really. Most people go to the Pokeco building if they aren't going for specialized, and thankfully, none of my team have a specific diet... other than Tiny, but none of these have a lot of iron. [ They are coming up on... though - ] I did check out the Herbalist's Guild's place though, which'll be---

[ And she holds until she can point - there. That somewhat darker building at the end of this row of buildings she was pointing out ] They work with natural remedies.

I see. So in other words, it completely depends upon your team and their diets.

[Thankfully, none of her own Pokémon have been very picky thus far. The Herbalist place sounds promising though. While Renko knows that most herbs are bitter, they tend to be much better for curing things.]

That sounds pretty useful.

Yeah - I've been going there for some of their suggestions on how to make sure the babies I got stay healthy. [ Probably should be going to the pharmacy proper but she can get better deals there via trade ]

Oh? You have some baby Pokémon?

Yeah - I found one of 'em off in the wild and I'm pretty sure it's nest got raided. The other one's from the Breeding Center here.

Ahh, I see. My little one was a gift.

Could you show me the Breeding Center next?

We could divert there now, if you wanted.

[ She was gonna show the shops, but if they turn here... well okay it's a little out of the way but not much ]

After the shops, I mean. I don't want to miss anything that might be useful later on.

Oh that definitely, you got it. [ As they go now though, into the proper part of the shopping district... ] How're we comparin to Gigas in size?

Great.

Well, Gigas is definitely bigger. I'd say the greatest differences though, are our advancements in technology, and our communities. Yours seems to be much more closely knit.
