[After visiting the council and seeking permission to stay in Union City, Renko was more than pleased with their answer. They'd even given her one of those Warp Band devices she'd seen most people around the city wear. Needless to say, she looks thrilled once she gets it all figured out and starts recording.]

Hey, this thing isn't as hard to figure out as I thought it would be! That's great!

So it's pretty obvious that I'm not from around here. That aside, my name's Renko Usami, and I've decided to stay here! It's quite a bit different than what I'm used to in most ways.

[She pauses for a moment, debating what to say next, all the while counting the seconds away in her head. She needed to make a good impression on these people. She hoped she was doing a good job.]

I'd really like to learn more about all of you. Your stories, culture, technology, any of it, really. Is there a library I can check out? Other than that, any advice at all would be appreciated, especially with exploring some of the areas outside the city. It didn't seem so bad on the way here, but I was in a group then. I'm guessing going solo would be a very different experience.

Anyway, that's it for now. Thank you for allowing me to stay in your city.

It's actually very surprising that our civilizations haven't met beforehand. Long ago, people used to travel the world.

[ She nods to confirm yes, Mist. But... ] They did? [ ... ] Guess back then, pokemon weren't eating them as much or something. Guess it would figure, what with them having that super technology.

Between superior technology and bonds with Pokémon, people used to travel across the land. I honestly hope that will return someday. [A pause.]

Well, I do prefer the Warp Band over Pokéballs. However, they each have their pros and cons.

[ The mention of pokeballs does make her involuntarily get tense for just a moment. But then she tries to push past it to imagine a world that large and that grand. ... It's not easy for her, and after one more wide step (nearly there to the breeding center!) she decides to tackle something that she can wrap her head around, even if it's uncomfortable ]

What's the pros for the balls?

While using the Warp Band requires you to remain a connection with the Pokémon in an attempt to bond with it, Pokéballs just require you to throw them, really.

They're not always accurate, but neither is bonding. However, if you don't want a particularly rare one escaping or you're dealing with a particularly aggressive species, using a ball is probably the better option.

There's people who hunt Pokemon in terms of how rare they are? [ The aggressive thing though... that makes sense. She wonders what would happen if she ran into something that'd eat her and attempt the bond with it ] Guess there's all types.

Yeah. It really depends on the person though, doesn't it? Some focus on particular types, while others may simply choose Pokémon they find 'cute' or something along those lines.

Guess I never thought of doing that. I've just kinda bonded with the ones who stand out to me when I'm out and about.

It's different for every trainer, isn't it? I personally try to obtain Pokémon that I like.

[ Ones she likes...? Isn't that what she does- oh whatever. You can now see- ]

...wow. How exactly does it work? Are there only certain Pokémon kept here, or is there some other way they run it?

It's a volunteer drop off. Usually, you got trainers dropin' off theirs who are ready for it or pokémon volunteering themselves. Then the staff works to find good matches or have one of the ditto on staff there help out.

[ At least, she's pretty sure... ]

Then if you pay a fee they can also incubate the eggs when they show up.

I may have to look into that sometime.

[And it might be an easy way to find any baby Pokémon she might be looking for in the future.]

Do you have any personal experience with it?

Yeah. Back after this one mission everyone involved got a free egg from there. Guess they got an excess - mine hatched into a baby Machop.

I can see how it would be problematic if too many Pokémon hatched there at once. I'll certainly have to see if they do something like that again.

Yeah, gunna have to keep an ear to the sky. Don't worry, news travels pretty fast here.
