[After visiting the council and seeking permission to stay in Union City, Renko was more than pleased with their answer. They'd even given her one of those Warp Band devices she'd seen most people around the city wear. Needless to say, she looks thrilled once she gets it all figured out and starts recording.]

Hey, this thing isn't as hard to figure out as I thought it would be! That's great!

So it's pretty obvious that I'm not from around here. That aside, my name's Renko Usami, and I've decided to stay here! It's quite a bit different than what I'm used to in most ways.

[She pauses for a moment, debating what to say next, all the while counting the seconds away in her head. She needed to make a good impression on these people. She hoped she was doing a good job.]

I'd really like to learn more about all of you. Your stories, culture, technology, any of it, really. Is there a library I can check out? Other than that, any advice at all would be appreciated, especially with exploring some of the areas outside the city. It didn't seem so bad on the way here, but I was in a group then. I'm guessing going solo would be a very different experience.

Anyway, that's it for now. Thank you for allowing me to stay in your city.

To put it simply, your people all work together as one, or it seems more like that to me.

Everything's pretty much based on class and wealth.

Oh... s'not like that's alien here. [ After all, she's living in a shitty apartment near the factories for a reason ]

Well, from what I've seen so far, Gigas has it worse. If you're not among the upper classes, things generally aren't going to be easy for you.

Here, it doesn't seem so bad.

[ ... ] I can't compare it, but I'm not gunna say it's easy for folks without a lotta money. But who knows, you could be right.

[ Maybe it's just her personal experience -- no, it definitely is ]

At least there are people here willing to help you out, right?

Yeah, I've made a few good breaks.

Gigas is much worse in that regard. You'd be very lucky to find someone willing to lend you a hand.

[ Oh... ] Yeah, I know I'm lucky.

[ But she doesn't want to dwell on that. Instead, they are down to the markets proper now. And first things first: The Outpost ]

This one's the Outpost - it's the main supply spot for Rangers.

[Yes, it's best not to drag the mood down any further.]

The Rangers? I've heard mention of them, but not a whole lot about them.

Well I'm one of them. The Rangers are the pathfinders for Union, who do the operations outside of the walls, scouting out locations and finding out new supplies and making the routes for them. Exploration. That sort of thing.

Sounds like you certainly get out and about. How far from the city have you managed to explore personally?

Personally? To ocean's edge south of here. [ That would be the furthest, right? That or the mountains... ] I guess there was a big island people discovered a while ago down there too, but I don't have anyone with me who can swim or fly over to it.

An island? Sounds like it'd be worth checking out at some point. I don't have any means of transportation to get there either. Eventually, though.

This guy Banzu - sort of an underground technology guy here - he's planning to help set up a small fort and a boat service to it. So hopefully that'll come up.

[ She taps one of her legs ] Anyway, wanna see inside, or should we move on?

That would be pretty useful. I'll have to keep that in mind.

[ And with that, she turns to head back towards the main lower levels ]

Perhaps you could give me a more extensive tour another time, if you're willing.

[Renko follows close behind. Honestly, all this walking is starting to get tiring. She won't complain, though.]

[ Melaka has no notice of it. If anything, she feels like she's gone too slow to walk and talk and point a few things out. But she knows she's an awful tour guide. But either way - ]

I might need to charge you next time.

But there's Pokeco.

I'll have to see what I can come up with, then.

[She laughs a bit, but she honestly wouldn't mind being charged a small fee for this. These people need to make a living, too.]

[ Haha... Well then ]

This place has got everything. Or well, almost everything. [ She waves vaguely at it ] You can find most else of what they have elsewhere with different prices and quality, but this one's most people's old reliable.

Great! Sounds like it'll probably be my first stop when I need to shop.

Yeah, s'how I do it too - go there, go elsewhere and compare a price point.

[ And she would point those specific places out too - might yet - but this woman said she was tired and... ]

Anyway, Breeding Center, right? You wanted to see it?

A pretty solid plan, really. Sometimes you want to support the smaller business even though they charge more, though.
