Who: Everyone!
Where: The newly discovered island
What: After recent events, the people of Union could use a bit of R&R. What better place than a tropical island?
Warnings: Drinks with little umbrellas in them, swimsuits, idek

An island paradise, discovered just off the southern coast, less than a day's travel from the city. A strong enough Pokemon could easily carry their partner and others out there. It was hard to say just who sent the original message, but pictures surfaced, with the tagline "Don't you wish you were here," came over the warp bands' feeds, and, like Venomoths to the flame, people began clamoring toward this new found tropical get-away. Those who wanted to go would find it easy enough--with so many people making their way to investigate, for whatever reason they claimed (but let's be honest, it was probably the beach), one could just hitch a ride.

The island itself appeared untouched by human contact. The Pokemon were strange and different compared to the fare immediately around Union. A warm breeze blew through palm trees, carrying the scent of hibiscus flowers. The water, blue as the summer sky, was warm and inviting.

This truly was a paradise.

Well... feathers don't work if they get soaked. They don't catch the air right, or something. Ahhh, I don't really get it myself. [he preens more, swiping his beak on his feathers and carefully pulling them through his teeth] It's mostly instinct.
heartstorage: (ummm I don't get it)

Oh... [His head stays tilted as he thinks that through. Water makes feathers not work? But...how? Hmmmm]

Is it cause it adds extra wet? Or makes them all slippery? Then again your wings are steel, right? They're already pretty slick...

[HM. He's trying hard to figure this one out. Since hey, maybe it can help figure out flying for you!]

Um... I think... it's because they lose their shape and get heavy if they are wet. And my feathers are metal, but they're still light. Even the ones that aren't blades are.... kind of like normal feathers? Except made of little pieces of metal.

[EREN DOESN"T ACTUALLY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BIRDS]
heartstorage: (decisions...)

wow that was supposed to be weight, not wet

[personal profile] heartstorage 2014-03-19 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
...I didn't realize water could make metal lose their shape that fast...

[But semantics really. he shrugs]

Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter. It's good not to leave saltwater on steel anyway. It tends to make it rust fast, now that I think about it.

oh it's ok :D and here LET ME NERD AT U ABOUT FEATHERS

Well, it's... you know what, I'll show you.

[Eren hops down off the rock and walks over to Sora, showing him his wings]

See, these ones at the end are solid, like a sword, but hollow. But look at the ones on top of them. [actually... Eren plucks one with his beak and places it in Sora's hand. For all intents and purposes, it looks like a completely normal feather, and not really perceptibly heavier. Upon close examination, the barbs that make it up are made of super lightweight metal instead of keratin. At the base, the metal barbs slowly transition to fluffy keratin down] It's just like any other feather, so it works the same... even though it's made of metal. See how it's not solid? It's made of little... even tinier feathers.
heartstorage: (heh heh whoops)

WOO FEATHER NERDAGE

[Yes good showing is probably best. He looks down at the one that's in Sora's hand, bringing it close to his face. He could see the little barbs, it looks a lot like Archimede's feathers when she preens]

Oh...wow! I get it! It's like a mix of some metal and feather! Cool!

Heh heh, and here I thought they were just solid steel all the way.

SO MUCH NERDAGE.

Yeah, they're not solid at all. I guess they probably wouldn't work that well if they weren't flexible.
