Invasion: Start
The morning after the meteor shower, things start as they always do. Union’s gearing up for another day: people going to work, shops opening, kids heading to school, and foremen getting their crews to work on the last of the damage left by Kyurem’s rampage through the city. It’s just an ordinary day, with only a passing thought given to yesterday’s odd occurrences by anyone outside the scientific and psychic communities. There’s some very real theories floating around there, but there’s little real chance at anything solid coming from the discourse. At least, until reports start coming up Route 1 from the single port started by one Union entrepreneur two years ago. It’d grown quickly with Gigan help, seaborne trade flowing up the lone road, and now it was completely overrun.
Panicked sailors and land crew come streaming up the way, nursing hundreds and hundreds of Bug-type induced injuries. Beedrill stings, Spinarak bites, and photographs of several enormous members of a new species that’d yet to be recorded quickly circulate and prompt Council response. Whatever these things are, they’re clearly hostile and the risk of damage to the city itself seems likely given how quickly the port had been overwhelmed.
With the city still shaken by Kyurem’s attack, the Council wasted no time. The call to arms was put out and trainers hastily sent out to deal with the sudden intrusion. Anyone willing and able to fight was asked to head down the road as quickly as possible, with the intent of sorting this out and either diverting the tide or stopping the invasion cold. The road itself is deserted, abandoned wagons left in a hurry, and not a single wild Pokemon can be heard for miles. It’s almost like they were aware something big was coming, and even the more aggressive types clearly opted to clear out.
When it comes into view, the port itself seems to be in particularly bad shape. Smoke rises up into the horizon, and hundreds and hundreds of Bug types swarm all over the structures, chewing away at the wood and stone. But perhaps the most troublesome sight is the beings that are overseeing the attack. Several members of the new species, fifteen feet tall at minimum, twenty at the peak, direct the swarm in its efforts. And further out to sea, a singularly massive specimen, some forty feet tall, watches it all, hunched forward, dark eyes gleaming with interest as its minions go to work…

Stoutland, Hitmonchan, Blastoise, Arcanine, Skarmory, Hydreigon, Swellow
His pokemon fair even better. Manny the Skarmory just shrugs off the attacks, it's dual type advantage leaving it free to fly through the swarm, striking out with Air Cutter.
On his other side, Arcanine, already long hair standing on end to strike an even more Intimidating figure, bounds through the swarm, cutting a path with Heat Wave, the pokemon's body burning hot enough that the heat distortion around it is clearly visible to the naked eye, though it's careful to give Mei some space to breath.
"Sounds like a plan to me. Rusty will have to head back to Union for a bit, but the idea's not a bad one."

"They...ow! itch!"
Thankfully her heavy coat and frozen nature do a lot to lessen the impacts at least. It's not much buuuut better than nothing.
"But yes! Let me try!"
Pressing her hands into the ground she wills frost up out of it, pulling moisture out of the air and working to flash-freeze it in a sheet along the ground. She can't directly affect the water this far away, but a spinarakweb of ice starts to rapidly move down the land towards the ocean, and a wall of ice comes up between the group and the invader commanding their swarm. just to buy some space.

A Water-type Techno Blast sprays out to douse the scene!

Riolu almost dances across the ice towards the mysterious invader, before using a Low sweep in response to the techno blast, which has hurt it but not as badly as his Anorith.
His Ampharos steps from behind the Calderan, also somewhat injured by the blast, but it unleashes a blast of Thunder it would seem Garviel's friends don't have any fire typed amongst them, so he's just unleashing a pummeling with whatever they've got.

Gordon touches his band, and a Hitmonchan appears, before Rusty regains their feet, looking intently towards the Genesect, growling deep in it's throat before unleashing a Flamethrower. It's hurt, but it's not ready to give up the fight yet.

"Oh! That's it!"
Taking advantage of this, all the moisture in the air, Mei concentrates again, this time freezing the water directly under their attacker. That it had thankfully provided with it's water attack. Genesect's feet will find themselves sticking hard to the ground as layer after layer of ice forms over them...

One after another, it aims to strike every single attacker with Magnet Bombs! Which Genesect should the group focus on taking out?
no subject
Rusty, adding insult to injury, jumps up and vaults off the half-frozen Genesect to turn around quickly, letting out a roar of flame, another Flamethrower shooting from its mouth. It impacts the explosive in mid air, looking much worse for wear after taking both the attacks.
Mac ducks under, charging forward as fast as it can, the bomb having to change direction to catch the speedy Hitmonchan. He tucks into a roll, coming up on his feet directly ahead of the Genesect, letting loose a Fire Punch throwing the weight of it's body and the momentum of the blast into it.
Gordon pulls his pistol, and begins discouraging the smaller bugs from attempting to free their comrade from the ice.

Mei gets hit, the steel ball biting into her skin and prompting a pained yelp. There's an uncomfortable, awkward, cracking sound as bones are audibly popped...or...no.
That's the sound of ice. A lot of it. Freezing around Mei and encapsulating her in it. It seems that Mei has used Rest...
Which leaves Froslass and Snowball up to their own devices. They both nod and launch Icicle Shards at the bugs trying to free the monster!
no subject
"We've got to finish it! Pour it on Mei!"

The second Genesect crackles its disapproval at being tossed a burning Hitmonchan. Fire Punch strikes true, but the bug won't go down easy; it lashes out with Slash to try and knock the Fighting-type towards Mei.

Gordon indicates the Volcarona. "Fire types. Keep them off our icy friends."
The Blastoise grins, and the stone around its neck begins to glow, the light soon engulfing it entirely as it Mega-Evolves. A Water Pulse lashes out at the nearest of the Volcarona. Mac regains his footing and rushes back in, this time looking to recover a little lost health with a Drain Punch.

Of course, that doesn't mean the Froslass is idle. As lazy as her trainer might seem, the Ghost is eager to get going and rolls up her metaphorical sleeves, launching a Shadow Ball at the Genesect's face, in hopes of lowering it's defense or something. At the same time...Snowball takes a stab at adding to the attacks against Volcarona by raising an Uproar!

The second one lashes out with Magnet Bomb, though, if anybody gets too close to the captive Genesect. But it can only attack one target at a time...
no subject
And she takes aim with her heat ray, setting it on overcharge now.
"I'm going to teach you some manners."
And then...she unleashes a fiery blast right at the frozen Genesect. It may undo her Pokemon's hard work, but she's aiming for the head. Like you do when your enemy can't move.

Licking his wounds a bit, Mac steps back, seeing if it can Detect any incoming attack in time to get away.
"Keep it up!" Gordon cries. "We're winning," he says, moving over to Loken's side, helping him to his feet, the progress so far not having been without cost. "Don't suppose you can do anything like that?" he asks, nodding to the rejuvenated Meicicle.
no subject
"It's time to end this!"
He leaps forward with a two-handed, sweeping blow, evolving for the first time and growing even more powerful as he does so.
no subject
The second Genesect dodges Water Pulse but is too Outraged by its comrade's defeat to do much aiming. Instead, it's throwing a hissy. A very large, powerful hissy, with beams from the cannon firing at random. If tactics won't take you down, it'll just
mash buttonsoverwhelm you with force!!no subject

Hopefully that's the case!

Meanwhile, Manny rejoins the fight, swooping down from the air, letting out an Air Slash as it draws close, it's steel typing hopefully protecting it enough from the attacks of the enraged bug bot.

Its tantrum keeps going even when it can't stand up any more and falls on its back, firing its cannon in the air and lashing out with all its limbs, frustrated beyond belief. Sooner or later it's going to exhaust itself and lie still next to its fallen comrade. Mission accomplished.
Probably.

"Believe so," he says, looking out to sea as Mike reverts from his Mega evolution.
"How's everyone holding up? This might just be round one."
