Book 002 [Video]
Union?
[It was a rare day when Waver Velvet addressed the public of Union as a whole, but this day something about him seemed off. He seemed more bothered, more irritable than normal-- not that the little Nincada that was sitting on his head seemed to care. It drummed it's little feet happily on Waver's head, glad to be there for it's trainer in this strange time.
Heaving a sigh, Waver continued:]
Let's take a poll. Who here has been having weird dreams for the last couple of days? I need to know for academic reasons.
[...And, that was all. Waver scratched his cheek, feeling awkward and embarrassed about this entire problem that he was having.]
Don't worry about when you reply. I don't think I'll be getting to sleep any time soon.
[And, with that, the feed abruptly shut off.
Respond, Union?]

he's sorry to disturb you, Trainer, but this is a good, conscientious human! Natto has spoken to him before, and trusts him. And he was talking about strange dreams! ] Vanny. Leava. Van lea van.
[ Haruka sighs. ] We've been set up.
[ But she isn't closing the door. She trusts Natto's judgment enough for that. ]
[Waver scratched at his cheek nervously, glancing down at the Foongus who was now scrabbling up his leg off screen.]
Orpheus, is Ms. Tenoh's Leavanny always like this? [He asked quietly, and there was a Foo! In reply. Sighing, he returned his gaze to Haruka.]
Guess that's a yes, [He said and, after a moment of awkward silence where he studied her tired features, asked:] Trouble sleeping?
Another small sigh, but once it's exhaled, she's all business. Weary, but more intense than he's likely heard her before. ]
Describe your dream.
Re: [video]
--It's a little hard to describe when it's a bunch of scattered images and a bad feeling that you can't escape it. I'm not that kind of Psychic-type, so I don't have the experience to know what I'm looking for.
That's why I'm gathering data, so I can draw better conclusions.
[ It's spreading. It's spreading. Does that mean there's more people involved than they'd thought? Or that the apocalypse is so close, the premonitions have stopped discriminating?
And here she is, injured. Injured right before what very well may be, if not the last stretch, a difficult piece of the course. She'll have to navigate through this obstacle somehow.
She'll have more leeway to do so if she doesn't have to worry about innocents poking around investigating. ] You don't need to gather data. Just endure it.
Lea. [ That was faint. But...oh, dear. Trainer is doing. The Trainer thing. The last time she did this, Sanae cried. ]
Clearly Right hasn't babbled about me enough, or else you'd know that I can't accept that.
[His words were firm and clear-- but he did have the decency to tack on a filter so that they could speak with relatively few observers.]
Tenoh, I'm a researcher, and I'm with the Rangers. I won't feel right if I don't get some data on this. If you're uncomfortable, we can meet personally, but someone needs to have some information if there's other people complaining about bad dreams.

[ Haruka frowns right back. He doesn't get it. What's more, she doesn't want him to get it, because it's none of his business. None of this is. The Rangers' job is to keep the city safe once threats arise, not to.... ] You--
[ And she shifts her weight the wrong way in an attempt to look more threatening. This was a mistake. She pitches forward.
Shoot. ]

It might take a few moments for the camera to stabilize, but when it does, Michiru's there too. Somebody got tired of waiting.]
Perhaps Darkrai and Cresselia are fighting again.
[it certainly looks like she's considering this perfectly reasonable explanation.]
sdkjghskjghs
Waver looked on, his surprise evident on his face for a moment before it was replaced with a contemplative look.]
...I wasn't in Union yet for that incident, but I've been informed that they're among the gods supporting us.
[Indeed, he has received Cresselia's Blessing in battle before. It was an...enlightening encounter.]
This is an unfamiliar sensation, if that makes any sense Ms. Kaioh.
[Because yes, he does know your name. He's an Analyst and an Academic-- he can't help but observe the people around him, even if they haven't been formally introduced.
He's also been to enough performances to recognize the regulars on stage.]no subject
[ The way she's leaning on Michiru may not inspire confidence. But it's for solidarity, all right? Solidarity. ]

As we've all learned, they're not infallible. And we hardly know the full scope of their powers.
[not that this doesn't mean she doesn't support how Haruka is shutting this down. Indeed, she's starting to look away already.]
no subject
You're right, they're not infallible, and there's far too many things we don't know, but I can't just give up on this. That idiot Sinbad is also having bad dreams, and the fact that an idiot like him is even bothered by this is a problem.
no subject
[ She manages not to snap it, but whether that's from summoning superior self-control, being in quite a bit of pain right now, or having the steadying presence of her
Trainerpartner by her side, who knows. The camera shakes as the cameramon gets a worried look on his face. He doesn't like how this is going. Oh dear. But it's probably not his place to speak up... ]
no subject
[He says it firmly, but manages to keep the air of politeness about his words even amidst their disagreement. Whatever the reasons were, his data collection project had somehow morphed into an outright negotiation, and it was taking all of his tenuous self control to not let the two of them see how nervous he was.
It was hard to ignore the way his heart jumped in his chest. But, somehow, he did.
Orpheus and Pollux the Nincada watched the discussion with rapt attention, both pokemon wondering how far the humans would push until someone broke.]
Besides, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to stop the next person to ask questions when that time comes-- and others will come unless someone gives them an answer they can understand.
[He couldn't imagine people like Raine Sage or Ami Mizuno backing down to such demands so easily. Indeed, they might just 'get in the way' even more than Waver himself would.]
We've been together on how many explorations and battles, Tenoh? You know what I'm capable of, and you know that I'm not stupid enough to get in over my head.
no subject
We have our mission, you have yours.
[as she deftly ignores all those other arguments.
Sorry Waver, you're still no Ami Mizuno or Rei Hino.]
no subject
[ Oh, no. Oh, no no no. Natto looks at Michiru pleadingly. The last time Trainer got like this, she made girls cry. Is this really okay? ]
...you'll be silenced.
[ TRAINER WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ]
no subject
[Waver was a crybaby, but not this time. He was standing his ground, even as his pokemon were now trying to tug the warp band away from him. Holding fast, her levelled his gaze on the duo unflinchingly.]
It could be all of us. I'm not an idiot like Right or Sinbad-- and I already told you I'd stay out of your way.
[He was good for his word, unlike many other Magi from Sanctuary. Just trust him.]
no subject
Then we're in agreement. [is what it boiled down to, at any rate. Whether or not they'll get what they want is another matter entirely.
But here's a small smile anyway. You have been thoroughly warned.]
no subject
Waver probably has time to get in a parting shot, though, if he wants. She's doing this off-balance and one-handed. ]
