A Well Earned Celebration
[The battle was over and the god Reshiram defeated, driven away by the aid of Union and its allies. The city was safe, by and large, and as the news spread throughout the peoples of the tundra, they began streaming back into the settlement in droves. Dirty, ash-coated faces were filled with relief and gratitude when they saw that it wasn't just a rumor and that their home had indeed been spared. Not everyone was so lucky, but they'd weathered worse, of course. The people of Glacier endured, as they would always endure, and they were also a people that repaid their debts. And they most certainly all agreed that they owed their rescuers a debt.
So, as night fell after the battle, a great celebration was prepared in the center of Glacier. A wide square was cleared away in a matter of hours, and the people gathered what they could in a show of thanks. Tables of food, bonfires towering into the night sky to keep out the autumn chill, and throngs of cheering wellwishers lined the area. Warriors of glacier, men carrying swords and women all bearing axes offered enthusiastic handshakes and claps on the back. Music of all kinds was played, though tribal tunes full of horn and percussion, chanting and yodeling, and even some brass groups dominated the soundscape.
A platform for various elders was set up, and they offered speeches, of course...but those were somehow dwarfed by the presence of the divine beings that were waiting silently for the proceedings to end. Some of the gods that had come to the aid of the war parties had apparently decided to stay, though their reasons were as mysterious as they themselves. The humans would have their time, and the Servants would mingle freely throughout the evening.
Food, of course, is set out in piles. Meat, fish, arctic berries, and various pastries and the like line table after table. A smorgasbord of Glacier specialties, each with a new and unique flavor all their own, and some (such as the stew) possessing a smell that only a native could probably endure. Akutaq in particular seems to stand out among the worst offenders, but the Glacier natives seem rather fond of it, and offer it to their rescuers with great gusto.
And the rewards do not stop at simple meals. either. As the speeches begin to wind down, a woman some might find familiar walks up onto the stage carrying a singularly massive trunk and dropping it down onto the wood with a heavy thud.]
Southerners! You have done a great deed this day! We, the people of Glacier, would like to thank you and honor your sacrifice! Few would do as you have done, coming to the aide of strangers against the might of that dragon...and you have accomplished something we did not think possible. To that end, we would like to present you with the first of many gifts, a token of our gratitude and a promise that should you need it, we will come to your defense in a time of need!
[And then with a sharp kick, she cracks open the trunk and reveals a veritable treasure trove of three different stones to be distributed by her subordinates.]
Rest well, and enjoy the festivities! You are welcome here, for as long as you like! Eat, drink, and be merry within our halls!

Thus, at one point in the evenings, Right finally caves to Betsy's request for a break from the crowds. Thus, they retreat to the trees for a few moments...and almost bump into the ruler of nightmares himself. Betsy immediately calms down and backs away a few steps out of respect.
Right, however, looks rather stunned - and a little awkward. It's not every day that you meed one half of the focus of his theater troupe's current play.] --Oh! Hi there, Lord Darkrai. Didn't see you there. Um...
[He glances down at the basket of berries in his lap, and then holds it out as a peace offering.] Want some?

In a tree nearby, the great bird of frost looks on from overhead and sighs. Every now and then, it beats its wings, sending a shower of beautiful ice prisms through the air, inciting oohs and ahhs from said small children.]

- For most of the time, trying to get her head together, Raine sits and writes about the experiences in her small book: detailed notes about the battles, their foes, the state of the city, the appearance of the gods, even the people of Glacier, and Union's own... hero force. If she's not careful, she just might miss out on the celebration by being too caught up in her note-taking. Maybe an interruption is in order ...
- Though the times she does seem to remember on her own that there's a party going on, she can be found taking an interest in the culture, the different available meals, sometimes musing aloud on what the recipe could possibly be and whether it could be adapted.]

I don't know how to put this, exactly, but I'm surrounded by gods right now.
Left to her own devices at the camp (and politely turning down any offers of meat but taking fish) Maka drafts out a letter to her mother as she eats. She doesn't know where her mother is, disappeared into the wilderness a long time ago, but still Maka writes her a letter with the intent to someday send them off.
There's so many things I want to ask them, to talk to them about, but at the same time I'm at a total loss for words. I see them and I just lock up, I can't believe that I ended up in a place like this.
Ahem. She'd better put it away before someone takes notice that she's not participating in revelry. All right, Maka will pick it up later. Now she stands and proceeds to investigate the akutaq, which Stella is eating with surprising gusto. Is it really that good?]
no subject
As Maka gets up, a gloved hand drops onto her shoulder from behind and the now much taller Yuuna stoops, head on Maka's other side.]
That doesn't look like much celebrating, kiddo. Am I going to have to mandate fun now, too?

A patched up and cleanly bandaged Noivern now hangs out at the outermost edge of a bonfire, visited regularly by Michiru and various Pokemon ferrying food and/or cool things to look at that aren't bolted down.
Looking a bit singed, bruised, and bandaged too, Michiru can be found walking through the square and later, sitting tiredly with her Noivern. At least her Pokemon seem to be enjoying themselves.]

You look none the worse for wear.
[Rei herself? Looks a little windswept, with sootstains on her cheeks and clothes. Beyond that though, she appears to be in fine health. Fire gods, it seemed, could only burn so hot.]

[He's all for digging into the great meal prepared for the people who'd traveled to Glacier to help with the efforts. The food is all piled up in front of him, but he definitely has not gotten any of the stew or the Akutag. He's trying to shove that away when presented to him, making up excuses why he can't eat it:]
No, see, I can't eat it, I've got these allergies! [He has no idea what's in it.] I'd love to, but it'll give me horrible indigestion...!
[He also, finally receiving his mega stone, holds it up and thinks a lot about the mega evolution that they'd discovered. Go ahead and find him checking it over, he has thoughts about it.]

[Yukiko herself is not digging in like a starving Pokemon, but that is not stopping her companions at all. A rather disheveled looking Snor-Lord, with holes all in his trademark jacket is chowing down on any and everything in sight. Her other Pokemon are more or less steering clear out of total secondhand embarrassment.
Hestia, in particular, just seems disgusted by the display and waddles away chirping and shaking her Blissey head over and over. Beware food-havers, you might be on the receiving end of a Snorlax trying to swipe food off your plate.
And Yukiko just...is too exhausted to deal with it. Following Hestia to one of the fires, she sits on a log and takes a drink from a cup someone had given her. It's bitter, and she pulls a face, but whatever.
And if you happen to be nearby, you might just hear her muttering to herself.]
You know, I can't believe this. I still can't...
[But she seems happy, at least.]
no subject
She should be eating better in the presence of a God, she should know better than that!
While Fuuka knew it would be better to break up the fight, she didn't seem to care at the moment. Right now, she was just much too happy at everything. Happy that the battle was over, happy about what happened with Yukiko...
She didn't want this moment to end! Although, when she saw her girlfriend...?]

Moltes, however, is

[ Yes, all's well that ends well. No, they probably wouldn't have gotten Reshiram to talk anyway. But Haruka hadn't expected a misread from Rise, and she's not very good at tolerating that sort of thing in life-or-death situations.
She won't face Rise directly, preferring to stand at a ninety-degree-angle behind her with her arms crossed. Yet the temperature seems considerably lower around her, even for Glacier, and she isn't even an Ice-type.
That disappointed. ]

[Saber, in her human form with large swathes of bandages covering various super-effective burn marks, is surrounded by friendly glacier locals offering her food. She's all for it when it's a round of fish or venison, as the cleared plates and bowls in front of her attest, but she's being assaulted with akutaq at the moment, and between the berry melange and the unflavored fat, it's conflicting mightily with the last several months of getting spoiled on Union takeout.]

But not just any hat. This hat was four times larger than Gil's head. It was purple with red stripes, it had spikes AND wings sticking out of it, it had a torch on the top, and as a final detail, it had a plaque affixed to the front that read: "GILGAMESH WULFENBACH: SHMOTT GUY!"
Suffice to say, Gilgamesh looked like an absolute twit wearing it. But they had been SO INSISTENT that he have it, and every time he tried to take it off or "lose" it, someone ended up bringing it back to him. The smart guy couldn't be without his hat, after all.
no subject
Which is why he nudges ol' Betsy over to Gil as soon as he spots him. "Hey, Gil! You..."
He looks at the hat, then at Gilgamesh, then back at the huge hat...
And proceeds to double over with laughter.

[As fond as he is of eating, drinking, dancing, and general merriment, he's a little quiet this time around, sticking more obviously close than usual to the people he's close to. Perhaps it's all the strangers around -- he's certainly more vivacious whenever he spots someone he knows nearby -- or simply how emotional the last week or two have been for him.]
[Just as likely, though, it's the presence of the gods. Feliks's family, much as they might clash with the other nobles on other matters of tradition, have always been rather religious; he's always been raised to respect Pokemon and exalt the gods as far-off, impossible idols. Seeing them so close, having seen their power first-hand, having heard them speak -- to say that he's awestruck would be an understatement. Whenever he sees one, he goes starry-eyed and shy, clinging to the arm of any friend nearby until he can gather his wits enough for bravado to kick in and get his mouth running again.]
[When he's not too overwhelmed by the presence of the gods, he behaves much more like everyone's used to him acting at parties: sparkling like a firework and dragging people into dancing with him, drinking like a Water-type, and after a few drinks to get him over any vestige of shyness, telling elaborately embellished stories about his various adventures to whoever will listen, to the tune of:]
--so I totally ramped my Rapidash friend right over it! Savior, it was way sick, you so should have been there!

It was scary.]
....I think its time to take a break, Feliks. [He muttered over his own cup of hot tea, reaching over to extract the beverage from Feliks' grip.] You're going to end up embarrassing yourself at this rate.

It wasn't that she didn't like the music; she danced to it, but not for long. It wasn't that the strange smells of the food put her off; she had a huge appetite and packed away a surprising amount of food. It wasn't the people; they were all friendly and welcoming to their rescuers.
What it boiled down to was that Morgiana had been eaten by a dragon FAR too recently, even if it had spat her back out. She was TIRED.
After a relatively short time, she retired from the celebration in favor of looking for somewhere warm to just sit and rest. When you weren't moving around as much, it felt damned cold this far north.

...Hey.
[Sitting down next to her, she reaches her hand over to place atop hers, gently lacing their fingers together.]

It's a new experience for him, dealing with all this fermented food, but he powers through. There's no way he'll let any secrets of food slip through his fingers.
This is also a chance for him to grow into his new powers. So he can be found as little more than a red and black blur, carving deep lines into the snow with his maxed out speed.
It's really quite a show, though he'll eventually stop and serve up something to whoever's around. ]

Still, he'll warm up as the evening passes, effectively passing over any and all food that looks even remotely like there's too much slime or raw fish or both in it, but happily taking part in the alcohol offered. He might ask someone to dance, or demand to toast with them, or just drape all over some helpless victim and demand to know what they're doing. It's unclear if any of the behaviors above mean that he's drunk, or if that's just Fai being Fai.]

Hey, stranger. So, like... can I have this dance, or what?

And... well, she finally had a few answers for her suspicions. Shortly after the fight, her body felt, well, different. Off. And when the evolution finally happened, after all the damage she took, it just gave out on her. She changed. Dramatically. Strange, blue and white dragon-like wings adorned her back--small, and easy to cover up thankfully, but still more than a bit unnerving--and her hair changed as well, swaths of purple and blue streaking through her usual blond.
The typing change didn't help, and instead made her skin crawl a bit. There was nothing wrong with the Ghost typing, but somehow a bit of it felt hard to control. Wild. She hadn't given herself much of a chance to try her new-found powers, both due to timing and a bit of fear.
But she would have to face Kyosuke eventually, right? He was her superior officer, and likely was going to lay into her. A heavy cloak covering her new back decorations, she held two steaming mugs of something, offering one down to him. She tried to smile, but it instead came off as as forced, and surprisingly unsure for her. ]
Here. You look like you could use this. You doing okay?
[ She looked at him, but didn't quite look at it, guilt obvious on her face. ]

Even feeling poorly he kept up a smile as several kids seem to have found him, asking a million questions, trying to tug on his tail, or pull him up to play - he gestures for them to sit down instead]
Hey, can't really play - but how about a story, all right?
Why don't I tell you how an Iron-willed Swordsman, a Powerful but gentle Psychic, A goddess of absolute beauty, and yours truly - the Clever Adventurer helped to stop the Dragon God's rampage?

Why don't you, kiddo, that sounds like an interesting tale.

Haruka doesn't like feeling unsettled, so even though it's dark (and cold, and dangerous), she's heading out towards open ground to see whether World Shaking would be up for a run.
Except she has found a different rockhead instead. ]
Ama?
Hey...
[ Haruka takes one step. The small dinosaur takes one step. Haruka takes two. The small dinosaur takes two. Haruka turns around and tries to reason with it. The small dinosaur trots up and sniffs her hand shyly.
She can be found either engaging in such actions or, later, resignedly standing in the akutag line while the intimidated (yet pleased) dinosaur does a little happy dance at her side.
Kids. ]
