Nico Nico Go [Closed]

Who: Nico, Maki and Chie
What: Nico is looking for a shiny whimsicott, and Maki agreed to help her... while dragging along Chie, who Nico doesn't know she's dating.
When: Late November
Where: The Flower Grove

[Given how Nico had spent the better part of the month searching, of course Maki knew about it, those times Nico was back and came crashing at her house. The frequency drop that should have happened from how often she was outside the city now seemed to be cancelled out by how often she didn't want to be at home, with how tired she was, helping her little siblings out all the time, however much she loved them, was just too much sometimes. So of course there was plenty of complaining involved, and when Maki suggested lending a hand in the search... well, it took a bit of getting around too, but eventually Nico agreed.

What she didn't necessarily agree to was Chie coming along. The last time they'd talked had been during that whole embarrassing dream ordeal, and for Nico's part, at least, it felt at least a little awkward. Still, as they reached the Flower Grove, she couldn't help but brighten up. Despite cooling weather elsewhere, the whole place was still beautifully in bloom with some of the cutest pokemon darting about]

Well, we're here! Remember, the one we're looking for has a black body, blue horns and pure-white fluff! Let's be serious about this.

[Yes she is glaring at them]

Okay... Maki and I will go this way, then.

[Chie noticed, and rather than specifically call attention to it, she's just going to make the executive call that there will be two search groups and one of them will just happen to be her and Maki. Hopefully Nico doesn't raise a fuss about it, because she really does want to reassure her girlfriend without embarrassing her by pointing out how worried she looks out loud.]

We'll meet back here?

[Raising a fuss was... exactly what Nico was about to do. 2 groups was way less effective than 3 obviously. The way Maki's ears were reacting though... it made her feel just a teensy, tiny bit guilty. Even if they'd stay within eyesight of each other, she guessed making her go by herself was a little much.]

...yeah, that works.

[Nico turned to head off at an angle from their direction, comforting herself that it just showed how Maki was a silly and dependent little kid, needing to rely on Chie like that! She was even still holding her hand!]

Right..

[ It's not her fault for being like this. Leaving the city has never really gone well for Maki. First her tutor, her first friend ever, was attacked by wild Pokemon. Then she herself had been turned into a shifter when she left the city. And another time she was attacked when she was with Nozomi and Eli. So wanting to be near someone who can protect her is only natural, even if she can't come out and say she's nervous.

And so Maki watches Nico go off on her own, having no idea that Nico had noticed them holding hands or being close. She turns to Chie though, a fake smile on her face. ]

You didn't have to come all the way out here you know... B-But I'm glad you're here.

[By this point, Chie's gotten used to the fact that Maki often has trouble expressing the way she's really feeling for fear of embarrassment. She just hopes she was subtle enough that it didn't look too suspicious in front of Nico.]

I know, but I wanted to.

[Chie smiles reassuringly, turning to face Maki and taking her other hand too, gently squeezing them both.]

I'll come along anytime you want. A knight has to protect her princess, after all!

[Nico's probably not watching them, right? So it's okay if she leans in for a quick kiss on the cheek, right? Right.]

[ Maki can't say that she doesn't have a thought of her own, of what Nico would think if she saw them kissing. Yelling she can only assume. But then, she's not sure why that thought makes her feel bad, like there's a terrible knot in her stomach. ]

You really love to be my knight, don't you Chie?

[ Laughing a little, and trying to ease the tension in herself, Maki twirled her hair a tiny bit, before moving her hand away again, staying close to the other girl, even when she's kissed. ]

I've never gone out looking for a Pokemon before though. Is there anything special we should do?

[Chie, of course, is less concerned about that. Girlfriends kiss each other - it's only natural.]

Yup! I'll always come running when you're in danger.

[She grins proudly before pulling back and looking around a little.]

Not really. I always just kind of wander around until something shows up. Then I either talk to it or fight with it a little, depending on what kind of mood it's in.

[ That kind of declaration of intent from Chie is impossible not to fluster Maki. The only person who's ever been so protective of her is her father, and it's probably clear to even Chie that Maki is a bit of a daddy's girl. ]

That's all there is? I thought Nico just had no idea what she was doing.

[Chie likes to see Maki blush, which is half the reason she says it so much.]

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Finding them isn't really the hard part - Pokemon live all over the place, after all. But if you're looking for something rare, it can take a little longer. And what Nico wants is pretty rare.

What if there's an aggressive Pokemon? You can still get hurt can't you?

[ Not that she thinks Chie will get hurt, she's the toughest person Maki's ever met, hands down. But she's still worried, enough to jump when she hears a Jigglypuff call out from a thick set of bushes behind them. ]

Kyaaa!

Sometimes, but that's what my other Pokemon are--

[Chie lets out a little surprised yelp of her own as Maki jumps back, not having expected such a sudden movement. She quickly moves to get in front of her before seeing that it's just a Jigglypuff.]

...Oh, hey, a Jigglypuff! Hey there, little guy!

[ Oh, so it's not a pokemon that's going to eat her or maul them. That's a good thing. Maki takes a cue from her girlfriend though, and tries to relax, seeing how Chie is calling out to it now. ]

...That's a Jigglypuff? Are they friendly?

Yeah, they're really friendly. I saw a few when I was out here bonding with Blossom.

[Chie leans in close to Maki for a moment to whisper something, though.]

Be careful if it starts to sing, though. Its voice can put you to sleep.

I guess it's not really that frightening after all.

[ Maki has to consciously keep her hand from her hair, so that she doesn't start twirling. It's a hard thing for her to stop doing. The whisper near her ear though makes them stand straight up. ]

Really? Maybe we should get back to looking for Nico's Pokemon..

It's okay, I'm pretty sure they only do that if they're feeling threatened.

[Pretty sure!!]

Well..you can be a little threatening sometimes...

[ Sorry to say, but even though Maki's seen Chie at her weakest in the face of a bug/ghost, she's also seen her in fights too.

And it's a little charming when she sees her like that. Maki's just going to squeeze Chie's hand a little more, as if to remind her she's still there. ]

Never to you, though, right?

[Chie smiles back at Maki, already knowing the answer. She squeezes that hand right back, too.]

You're right, though. We should probably get looking for Nico's Whimsicott.

No, of course not..

[ She was a little intimidated when she saw Chie and her Hitmonlee fight, but never felt threatened. Chie is her protector after all.

And that thought makes her want to kiss the other girl thinking Nico can't possibly be around. So she does. Leaning in, her lips find Chie's, her eyes fluttering closed. ]

[Chie will never ever get tired of kissing Maki. It's such a warm, soft, wonderful feeling. She can't help but smile into the kiss, bringing her arms up to gently wrap them around her waist as she kisses back.]

[The yelling earlier had made Nico think she should check on them, but since there hadn't been more they were probably okay... plus, what was there even to yell about here? Still, it kind of bugged Nico... just because they were cute, didn't mean the pokemon here couldn't be dangerous. It finally got to the point where she had to satisfy her curiosity - besides, they might as well check in again, right? And she had to make sure they were actually working, not goofing off or-]

What the heck are you dooooiiiiiing?!

[Yeah, that. The thing they were doing right in front of her.]

[ That voice instantly snaps Maki back into the present, instead of being lost in Chie's embrace. She doesn't push the other girl away or anything too bad, but it's clear that Maki is embarrassed when she hears Nico's voice, already turning to face the other girl with reddened cheeks. ]

W-We weren't doing anything! It's not what it looked like!

[ How can she even pretend it wasn't... ]

S-sorry!

[Wait a second, why are they apologizing to Nico in the first place? It's only natural that girlfriends should kiss each other sometimes, isn't it?]

I mean, uh... it was just kissing.

Why are you kissing!?

[She is... practically shrieking. And probably scaring away all the pokemon in the vicinity.]

Why would- when- what- how are you supposed to find pokemon if you have your faces glued together?!

[Apparently, denial of the obvious implications rerouted her train of thought in a really strange direction]

It's not that big of a deal!

[ Maki is on Chie's side, trying to calm Nico down...but unable to say that they are dating for some reason. Well, the reason is mostly that Maki is embarrassed about everything and saying that the two of them are dating isn't so easy, especially to Nico of all person. Though she doesn't know why. ]

It was just a quick kiss!

Yeah, I mean, that's what people do when they're dating!

[It's okay, Maki, Chie just said it for you. Hopefully there wasn't too big a stigma attached to that little piece of information.]

But you're right, we should have been looking harder...

[They were starting to make her feel a bit like she was overreacting about all of it...]

W, well, as long as you get back to- WAIT, YOU TWO ARE D-D-D-DATING!?
