Who: Nico, Maki and Chie
What: Nico is looking for a shiny whimsicott, and Maki agreed to help her... while dragging along Chie, who Nico doesn't know she's dating.
When: Late November
Where: The Flower Grove

[Given how Nico had spent the better part of the month searching, of course Maki knew about it, those times Nico was back and came crashing at her house. The frequency drop that should have happened from how often she was outside the city now seemed to be cancelled out by how often she didn't want to be at home, with how tired she was, helping her little siblings out all the time, however much she loved them, was just too much sometimes. So of course there was plenty of complaining involved, and when Maki suggested lending a hand in the search... well, it took a bit of getting around too, but eventually Nico agreed.

What she didn't necessarily agree to was Chie coming along. The last time they'd talked had been during that whole embarrassing dream ordeal, and for Nico's part, at least, it felt at least a little awkward. Still, as they reached the Flower Grove, she couldn't help but brighten up. Despite cooling weather elsewhere, the whole place was still beautifully in bloom with some of the cutest pokemon darting about]

Well, we're here! Remember, the one we're looking for has a black body, blue horns and pure-white fluff! Let's be serious about this.

[Yes she is glaring at them]

[Chie smiles back at Maki, already knowing the answer. She squeezes that hand right back, too.]

You're right, though. We should probably get looking for Nico's Whimsicott.

No, of course not..

[ She was a little intimidated when she saw Chie and her Hitmonlee fight, but never felt threatened. Chie is her protector after all.

And that thought makes her want to kiss the other girl thinking Nico can't possibly be around. So she does. Leaning in, her lips find Chie's, her eyes fluttering closed. ]

[Chie will never ever get tired of kissing Maki. It's such a warm, soft, wonderful feeling. She can't help but smile into the kiss, bringing her arms up to gently wrap them around her waist as she kisses back.]

[The yelling earlier had made Nico think she should check on them, but since there hadn't been more they were probably okay... plus, what was there even to yell about here? Still, it kind of bugged Nico... just because they were cute, didn't mean the pokemon here couldn't be dangerous. It finally got to the point where she had to satisfy her curiosity - besides, they might as well check in again, right? And she had to make sure they were actually working, not goofing off or-]

[Yeah, that. The thing they were doing right in front of her.]

[ That voice instantly snaps Maki back into the present, instead of being lost in Chie's embrace. She doesn't push the other girl away or anything too bad, but it's clear that Maki is embarrassed when she hears Nico's voice, already turning to face the other girl with reddened cheeks. ]

W-We weren't doing anything! It's not what it looked like!

[ How can she even pretend it wasn't... ]

[Wait a second, why are they apologizing to Nico in the first place? It's only natural that girlfriends should kiss each other sometimes, isn't it?]

[She is... practically shrieking. And probably scaring away all the pokemon in the vicinity.]

Why would- when- what- how are you supposed to find pokemon if you have your faces glued together?!

[Apparently, denial of the obvious implications rerouted her train of thought in a really strange direction]

[ Maki is on Chie's side, trying to calm Nico down...but unable to say that they are dating for some reason. Well, the reason is mostly that Maki is embarrassed about everything and saying that the two of them are dating isn't so easy, especially to Nico of all person. Though she doesn't know why. ]

It was just a quick kiss!

Yeah, I mean, that's what people do when they're dating!

[It's okay, Maki, Chie just said it for you. Hopefully there wasn't too big a stigma attached to that little piece of information.]

[They were starting to make her feel a bit like she was overreacting about all of it...]

W, well, as long as you get back to- WAIT, YOU TWO ARE D-D-D-DATING!?

So what if we are? It's not like it matters to you right?

[ Already, Maki's twirling her hair, crossing her arms under her chest, looking away from Nico. She doesn't know why herself it matters to her that Nico find out about them dating, ignoring that fact that she had chance after chance of just telling the other girl that she was with Chie before. If only she know.. ]

Yeah... you didn't know about it?

[Chie blinks, raising an eyebrow. She knew Maki hadn't said anything to her parents about them dating, but she thought she'd at least mention it to her friends.]

[She rounds on Chie first]

No, I didn't! Because someone never even mentioned it!

[Someone who she is now turning on]

Of course it matters to me! You're the one who said we were friends, right!?

[wow someone sure flips sides on that issue fast]

[ Why hadn't she mentioned it to Nico? Maki had a thousand reasons why she never brought it between the two of them when they were together, but she never really gave it too much thought. She definitely hadn't it expected to go like this. ]

W-Well it just never came up! I don't know why you had to know about it!

[ She retorts back quickly enough, her full attention on Nico. She had just gotten upset with the girl for daring to not call her a friend...and Maki had been keeping this secret from Nico, and she didn't even know why. Worse, she didn't realize it, but she wasn't even looking to Chie in this moment, like she should be. ]

[Chie taps Maki on the shoulder.]

Um... m-maybe I should just go.

[It's uncharacteristically quiet of her, because holy crap did this get awkward fast.]

I mean, I kinda invited myself along anyway, so... y'know! It was probably my fault this all got started... ahaha...

W, well, because...

[Why did she have to know about it? Because they were friends? It not like they ever talked romance or dating before, so it wasn't that weird it never came up. For some reason though, it was really upsetting... not just the idea that Maki had hidden this information from her, but that she was dating anyone at all.]

No, no, maybe I should go, since clearly I'm just getting in the way of more important things!

H-Huh?

[ Maki turned quickly feeling Chie's tap, but didn't expect to see that look on her face. It was strange, had she done something wrong? Why would Chie be upset that she hadn't told Nico? Maki and Nico had barely even come to terms of the two of them being friends, so why did it matter? Why did it suddenly hurt so much hearing Nico getting upset with her, or Chie doing the same. It was like the both of them were suddenly upset with her, and Maki had no idea what she had done. ]

I didn't...mean... [ Maki doesn't have many friends. And now it seems two of the people she actually likes the most are mad at her, what can she even say? But there's rustling behind her and she doesn't seem to notice it either. ]

[From Chie's perspective, it looks like Maki is ashamed of her or wants to keep the relationship a secret. She didn't mention anything to her parents, and now the only other friend of hers that Chie knows too didn't know anything about it. She may have told other people, but to Chie, things are stacking up in a rather sad way.]

It's okay, I can just...

[But then there's that rustling, and Chie stops talking for a moment.]

Hey, did you guys her that?

[Nico didn't even really know what she was thinking of this, much less what the other two were thinking. All she knew is that this wasn't how this trip was supposed to go. Everyone was supposed to work together and be friends and find the pokemon she was looking for and now instead of having a great time because of her it looked like she was ruining some relationship - which totally wasn't her fault, considering she didn't even know about it! So it was totally unfair, and she turned back to give them a piece of her mind - when she saw those bushes moving behind the other two]

Ah, shhhhh, shhhhhh!

[ Maki didn't want to think their relationship was falling apart, because Maki still cared a lot about Chie. She was cool, and funny, and tough too, someone that Maki felt safe around. She had never had a girlfriend before, though she may not have been Maki's first crush, she was definitely her first kiss. But as stupid as it was, Maki didn't want Nico to be upset with her either, putting her in a difficult spot, that she should have realized might happen before. ]

Look I-- [ Maki stops talking when the two other girls point out that rustling, because she was a little preoccupied to hear it at first. Turning around slowly, her tail practically wrapping around her leg, Maki is more than a little surprised when out pops a giant ball of cotton. Maki's response is, of course, hiding behind Chie, grabbing the girl's arm from behind, before she realizes just how stupid she is being afraid of that. ]

[Chie steps in front of Maki rather naturally, her natural defensive instincts kicking in. Most of the Pokemon here are tame, but if Maki is worried, it's Chie's job to protect her and make her feel at ease. She does relax her posture a bit, though, once she sees what their mystery guest is.]

Whoa! Hey Nico, looks like we found your Pokemon!

W.... wooooooooow!

[And just like that, everything they were arguing completely leaves Nico's mind as she's completely entranced by the new arrival. To think, after all these weeks of searching, she'd finally found it...]

A, ahh... that fluffy white cotton, almost a little pink, that black body and those bright blue horns, those mischievous eyes... you're so cuuuuuute!

[She's just... gently sneaking towards it as the pokemon floats in front of them, gradually drifting downwards, like it's light as air. It seems mostly curious about them for now.]

[ If there's one thing Chie has going for her over Nico, she's fiercely loyal and protective of Maki. And that's something that made her so attractive to her in the first place. When she realizes that the Pokemon they are looking at is the one Nico's not been able to shut up about for weeks, she calms quickly. ]

That's it? That's what you've been searching for so much?

[ Tail returning to normal, and releasing her death grip on Chie, and already going to her hair. ]

Aww, it is cute!

[Chie smiles, stepping back and letting Nico take center stage.]

All right, Nico, it's all you now.

[Nico is broken from her reverie by Maki's unimpressed comments]

Wh, what are you talking about? It's so cute! Ugh, we'll have to find some normal ones to show you...

[But first, she has to befriend this one. She activates the warp band as she approaches]

Would you like to be friends with me? Nico~ Nico~ Ni~

[The Whimsicott takes one look at her... then shakes its body, cotton spores filling the air with fluff and covering all three of them in a thick down.]
