Nico Nico Go [Closed]

Who: Nico, Maki and Chie
What: Nico is looking for a shiny whimsicott, and Maki agreed to help her... while dragging along Chie, who Nico doesn't know she's dating.
When: Late November
Where: The Flower Grove

[Given how Nico had spent the better part of the month searching, of course Maki knew about it, those times Nico was back and came crashing at her house. The frequency drop that should have happened from how often she was outside the city now seemed to be cancelled out by how often she didn't want to be at home, with how tired she was, helping her little siblings out all the time, however much she loved them, was just too much sometimes. So of course there was plenty of complaining involved, and when Maki suggested lending a hand in the search... well, it took a bit of getting around too, but eventually Nico agreed.

What she didn't necessarily agree to was Chie coming along. The last time they'd talked had been during that whole embarrassing dream ordeal, and for Nico's part, at least, it felt at least a little awkward. Still, as they reached the Flower Grove, she couldn't help but brighten up. Despite cooling weather elsewhere, the whole place was still beautifully in bloom with some of the cutest pokemon darting about]

Well, we're here! Remember, the one we're looking for has a black body, blue horns and pure-white fluff! Let's be serious about this.

[Yes she is glaring at them]

[ It's not like Maki had been asking Nico to go out with her looking for this Pokemon. Not at all. More like, Nico kept coming back empty handed, lounging around Maki's mansion, and complaining about not finding the Pokemon she wanted. Eventually Maki just couldn't take it, blurting out that if Nico couldn't find it that she could go with her and find it without problem. You know, because this is Maki and this is how she handles Nico.

One thing led to another and Maki told Chie about the little excursion, and thus Chie was added to the group, even if Maki couldn't come out and straight tell her that she wanted her to come. Such is the way of her tsun.

Standing in the middle of the Grove, so far from the city, Maki is a little on edge, her tail swishing agitatedly, twirling her hair with her fingers. She reaches out a little to Chie's hand, before seeing Nico looking at them with a glare. ]

Black body, blue horns. Got it. I'm sure it can't be that hard.

Yeah, we'll find it in no time.

[Chie has no reason not to be confident about this. How hard can finding a shiny honestly be? Never mind that this is the second week she's failed to locate a shiny Snorunt up in the mountains.

Right now, she's a little preoccupied with Maki, though. She probably hasn't spent much time this far away from the city, and she's definitely looking nervous. Taking her hand, she squeezes it gently, smiling over at her.]

I've never been out here before. It's pretty.

Yeah, you'd think that...

[Something about seeing Maki's tail and ears like that makes Nico smirk - schadenfreude, no doubt. Hahaha, yes, let's see big rich girl soooo far away from the city... not that the Flower Grove was really that dangerous. The pokemon here were strong but... most of them were pretty gentle.

At least noticing that nervousness meant that Nico didn't think anything of Chie giving the girl's hand a squeeze, and she perks up a bit at that comment]

Right, right? I've been coming out here for weeks, so I'm glad it's so cute! All the pokemon here are adorable too!

[ It's incredibly rude to look at her tail like that and smirk Nico! Maki took time out of busy schedule just to cone help you after all! Not to mention asked for her girlfriend's help in all this.

She does accept the hand from Chie, though she didn't think that Chie, or Nico either, would see that she is a little nervous about all this. She's never had a Pokemon battle before and she feels a little useless between the two of them there. Maki tries to smile back to Chie anyway even though her ears and tail haven't yet gone back to normal. ]

I can't believe that's the reason you want this Pokemon so badly. Maybe that's why you can't find one because it can sense your desperation.

[ Slight jab at Nico nothing unusual here, though Chie might not be quite used to how these friends interact with each other. ]

[The chemistry these two have is deeply confusing to Chie. She thought they were friends or... something, anyway. But after the way Nico talked about her in the dream, she isn't even sure of that. But friends hang out, right? Nico probably wouldn't have invited her if she didn't like her.]

Um... well, that just means we have to look harder, right?

Uh, one, what better reason is there to look for a rare pokemon? And two, rude.

[Maki how can you not get this, cuteness is the most important factor ever.

At least Chie seems positive]

Yeah, exactly! I'm just saying, it's no easy feat!

[If it was, she'd look really dumb for not having succeeded by now]

Does a rare Pokemon really make it better?

[ Maki doesn't get it, why Nico has her sights set on this Pokemon of her's, but she is still here. Mostly because she doesn't want to keep hearing about it over and over. Maki might be paying a lot of attention to Nico, but it's totally normal for the two of them to have this back and forth, appearing as rivals more than anything. ]

Well, I'm sure with Chie here, we'll be able to find it. [ Because as far as Maki knows, Chie is used to finding all kinds of Pokemon. Plus she's her girlfriend, so it's only natural to talk her up a little. ]

The different colored ones can actually be pretty cool looking. I've been trying to find a Snorunt like that up in the mountains. I heard it evolves into a Glalie with red eyes!

[For some reason, Chie has decided that she needs to keep the peace here. She's still trying to figure out just how these two relate to each other, but it's slowly sinking in that this kind of light sniping is just how they do.]

Haha... I'll have to do my best, then! Wouldn't want to let you down, Maki.

It's cute and no one else will have one!

[These seem like good enough reasons to Nico. And having someone take her side only makes her more insufferable?]

See, see? Chie gets it!

[Pumped up and feeling like she has one up on Maki, she raises a fist with a cheer as she sets out]

All right, let's go! I haven't looked over this direction lately.

Is it really that important? [ Now Mkai just feels like the odd one out here, if only because she just has one Pokemon, one she helped hatch, and has never done any searching for more. And here are Nico and Chie able to bond over their Pokemon. It makes her scrunch up her nose a little, if only because she doesn't want to feel left out. ]

Y-You wouldn't let me down if you don't find it though. I'm sure she won't die if she doesn't get what she wants.

[ A little off hand snipe at Nico, but Maki is following along anyway...still holding Chie's hand as her tail swishes behind her. She's definitely not used to this kind of atmosphere, so far from the city, so she's sticking real close to her girlfriend. ]

It's not really a big deal. Everybody has different stuff they like about Pokemon.

[Chie gives Maki a reassuring smile, nodding over at her.]

Besides, just adventuring around can be a lot of fun too. You meet lots of different Pokemon even if they're not the one you're looking for.

[She squeezes that hand for good measure, too.]

And don't worry - I'll keep you safe if we run into anything tough.

[Nico is not about to let someone's RUDE COMMENTS get her down, so she focuses on the positives - and searching for that Whimsicott!]

Yeah, and there's a ton of cute ones here! Maybe you can make friends with one?

[Though turning back to say that, she notices they're still holding hands. Was Maki always so clingy?]

Maybe we should spread out a little... though stay in sight of each other!

[Which... isn't really far at all, given the forest]

I guess so...

[ What did Maki even like about Pokemon? She likes spending time with Yaya, teaching her, feeding her, playing music while she listens. She likes the bond that they have, where she feels responsible for her. ]

I-I already have a Pokemon, I don't need more.

[ Maki twirls her hair with one hand, answering without thinking. Maybe having another Pokemon wouldn't be so bad...but she's already answered so there's no changing her mind anymore. ]

Spread out?

[ Maki's voice sounds a little worried, something both girls likely can tell with ease, only made more clear by the way her ears twitch hesitantly on the top of her head against her will. ]

Okay... Maki and I will go this way, then.

[Chie noticed, and rather than specifically call attention to it, she's just going to make the executive call that there will be two search groups and one of them will just happen to be her and Maki. Hopefully Nico doesn't raise a fuss about it, because she really does want to reassure her girlfriend without embarrassing her by pointing out how worried she looks out loud.]

We'll meet back here?

[Raising a fuss was... exactly what Nico was about to do. 2 groups was way less effective than 3 obviously. The way Maki's ears were reacting though... it made her feel just a teensy, tiny bit guilty. Even if they'd stay within eyesight of each other, she guessed making her go by herself was a little much.]

...yeah, that works.

[Nico turned to head off at an angle from their direction, comforting herself that it just showed how Maki was a silly and dependent little kid, needing to rely on Chie like that! She was even still holding her hand!]

Right..

[ It's not her fault for being like this. Leaving the city has never really gone well for Maki. First her tutor, her first friend ever, was attacked by wild Pokemon. Then she herself had been turned into a shifter when she left the city. And another time she was attacked when she was with Nozomi and Eli. So wanting to be near someone who can protect her is only natural, even if she can't come out and say she's nervous.

And so Maki watches Nico go off on her own, having no idea that Nico had noticed them holding hands or being close. She turns to Chie though, a fake smile on her face. ]

You didn't have to come all the way out here you know... B-But I'm glad you're here.

[By this point, Chie's gotten used to the fact that Maki often has trouble expressing the way she's really feeling for fear of embarrassment. She just hopes she was subtle enough that it didn't look too suspicious in front of Nico.]

I know, but I wanted to.

[Chie smiles reassuringly, turning to face Maki and taking her other hand too, gently squeezing them both.]

I'll come along anytime you want. A knight has to protect her princess, after all!

[Nico's probably not watching them, right? So it's okay if she leans in for a quick kiss on the cheek, right? Right.]

[ Maki can't say that she doesn't have a thought of her own, of what Nico would think if she saw them kissing. Yelling she can only assume. But then, she's not sure why that thought makes her feel bad, like there's a terrible knot in her stomach. ]

You really love to be my knight, don't you Chie?

[ Laughing a little, and trying to ease the tension in herself, Maki twirled her hair a tiny bit, before moving her hand away again, staying close to the other girl, even when she's kissed. ]

I've never gone out looking for a Pokemon before though. Is there anything special we should do?

[Chie, of course, is less concerned about that. Girlfriends kiss each other - it's only natural.]

Yup! I'll always come running when you're in danger.

[She grins proudly before pulling back and looking around a little.]

Not really. I always just kind of wander around until something shows up. Then I either talk to it or fight with it a little, depending on what kind of mood it's in.

[ That kind of declaration of intent from Chie is impossible not to fluster Maki. The only person who's ever been so protective of her is her father, and it's probably clear to even Chie that Maki is a bit of a daddy's girl. ]

That's all there is? I thought Nico just had no idea what she was doing.

[Chie likes to see Maki blush, which is half the reason she says it so much.]

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Finding them isn't really the hard part - Pokemon live all over the place, after all. But if you're looking for something rare, it can take a little longer. And what Nico wants is pretty rare.

What if there's an aggressive Pokemon? You can still get hurt can't you?

[ Not that she thinks Chie will get hurt, she's the toughest person Maki's ever met, hands down. But she's still worried, enough to jump when she hears a Jigglypuff call out from a thick set of bushes behind them. ]

Kyaaa!

Sometimes, but that's what my other Pokemon are--

[Chie lets out a little surprised yelp of her own as Maki jumps back, not having expected such a sudden movement. She quickly moves to get in front of her before seeing that it's just a Jigglypuff.]

...Oh, hey, a Jigglypuff! Hey there, little guy!

[ Oh, so it's not a pokemon that's going to eat her or maul them. That's a good thing. Maki takes a cue from her girlfriend though, and tries to relax, seeing how Chie is calling out to it now. ]

...That's a Jigglypuff? Are they friendly?

Yeah, they're really friendly. I saw a few when I was out here bonding with Blossom.

[Chie leans in close to Maki for a moment to whisper something, though.]

Be careful if it starts to sing, though. Its voice can put you to sleep.
