A Musical Practice

Who: The Love Live! Girls, anyone who lives at Hikawa Shrine, and anyone leaving and entering the shrine! And stalkers. There are stalkers.
What: Practice for performing on stage! Their first practice ever.
When: Sometime in the afternoon, after school is over.
Where: Hikawa Shrine, Union.
Summary: Honoka has finally managed to amass a group of people to get together as a little musical group to perform. They are going to try to practice together for the first time, and that could go any number of ways.

"Hello everyone!" She shouts once all the girls who she expected to come to practice arrive. "I wasn't sure where we could practice, but I'm so glad Rei let us come here and use the courtyard! So!"

She stands, feet at shoulder width, in front of the girls, looking determined as ever.

"We'll do some singing first! And after a little break, we'll try dancing! Someone will need to clap for us to keep time, but we can alternate who does that so everyone gets to practice dancing. And then! We can get something to eat when we're done! If there's someone you don't know, get to know them a little bit before we begin our practice!"

"Okay! Let's start!"

Please Umi! Can you please make that part easier, it's messing us up!

[They almost died, didn't you see it? Almost died.]

I-it's less about it being easy and more that we go off rhythm...

...And it's confusing so we're not sure how to do it. We crashed into each other and fell on the ground!

... We may need more coaching instead.

[She nods. Yes, the bird is right.]

Could you help us, Umi?!

[Sigh. She really doesn't have any other choice. She can't let them make fools out of themselves.]

Which part are you finding the most difficulty with?

The part where we switch places around 'love is a miracle'.

[The place of the accident!]

See, it's like this- [She takes her place right next to Kotori-] and when we switch like this- [A foot goes out to the side, to help her slide past the bird to where she's supposed to switch spots with her-] we always run into each other!

[Umi will see why in a minute that this happens.]

[Umi watches their little demonstration of the problem.]

I see...

[Give her a moment to try and think of a solution to the problem.]

[It's lucky that they were ready for the crash this time and thus they stop at a proper distance. Sadly neither of them really has stamina and this position is difficult to endure.]

[Kotori's legs tremble a little. Endure, bird!]

[She holds too, but she does not endure as well as the bird.]

Ahhhhh, it hurts! Umi, hurry!!

You expect me to come up with something just like that?

[Planning this stuff doesn't happen instantly! Sigh.]

Fine. Break for a moment while I think of a suitable replacement step.

We can't advance otherwise though.

[But hey, success! Kotori can't help but show her good mood once they have the demon coach's permission to relax. No more awkward stances now.]

Do you want the sweets? they are good for when you need to think.

[Sugar is magical.]

A break!? [Yes good that sounds fantastic]

Kotori! [She whisper/hisses to her friend.] Let Umi think about it on break! Then we can get water and eat some candy too! To regain our strength!

[Hopefully Umi takes some of the sweets, so maybe she won't be as mad at them? Maybe...]

[Honoka, be glad Umi didn't hear that remark about sweets. You're supposed to be on a diet!]

I don't need anything to eat right now. Take five minutes and we'll resume.

[unbalancedlove]

[Having her handmade sweets rejected feels bad but the birdy girl recovers soon enough at her friend's murmurs. Kotori nods.]

Understood~

[It's five minutes... unless she can't think of something.]

[Nodding happily, she gestures to Kotori to follow her off to the side for a second. That is, until Umi calls them back...oh god...]

Kotori, pass me one of those pokepuffs please! [She breathes a sigh of relief though. They missed getting scolded big time, at least Umi will try to make it better.]

[umiiroshoujo]

[Just because they got away with it once doesn't mean it'll happen again! Umi just sort of sits off to the side by herself for their little 'break', playing the moves over and over again in her head.

She'll figure something out. Whether it's better or worse, they'll find out soon enough. The clock is ticking, and as soon as those five minutes are up, Umi will call them right back to work.]

Sure! I have spicy ones too if you would like to try them.

[The innocent duet of schemers happily share sweets during their break time. Kotori has avoided Umi's temper until now and thus ignores how terrifying the situation could have become... or may end as. Umi just wants them to succeed, it can't be that bad!

Once called the two of them obediently return to the seaside.]

Sure! [She tries the spicy ones, and eep they are hot but good all the same. But then the call comes and they both hurry back to await what Umi's verdict would be. Honoka look to Umi with wonder and anticipation.

Will it be easier? Or are their fates sealed?]

[umiiroshoujo]

[They're doomed. DOOMED. Okay, maybe not really. Umi has a new step for them to try!]

Are you two ready to continue? Good.

[No is not an acceptable answer. Without any further hesitation, Umi proceeds to demonstrate the new move for them.]

Try that instead.

We are ready.

[... Or so she thought. W-Why was the step replaced by spin, step, spin, step? T-they are just going to crash even worse. The little bird is a bit hesitant.]
