A Musical Practice

Who: The Love Live! Girls, anyone who lives at Hikawa Shrine, and anyone leaving and entering the shrine! And stalkers. There are stalkers.
What: Practice for performing on stage! Their first practice ever.
When: Sometime in the afternoon, after school is over.
Where: Hikawa Shrine, Union.
Summary: Honoka has finally managed to amass a group of people to get together as a little musical group to perform. They are going to try to practice together for the first time, and that could go any number of ways.

"Hello everyone!" She shouts once all the girls who she expected to come to practice arrive. "I wasn't sure where we could practice, but I'm so glad Rei let us come here and use the courtyard! So!"

She stands, feet at shoulder width, in front of the girls, looking determined as ever.

"We'll do some singing first! And after a little break, we'll try dancing! Someone will need to clap for us to keep time, but we can alternate who does that so everyone gets to practice dancing. And then! We can get something to eat when we're done! If there's someone you don't know, get to know them a little bit before we begin our practice!"

"Okay! Let's start!"

[Nodding happily, she gestures to Kotori to follow her off to the side for a second. That is, until Umi calls them back...oh god...]

Kotori, pass me one of those pokepuffs please! [She breathes a sigh of relief though. They missed getting scolded big time, at least Umi will try to make it better.]

[Just because they got away with it once doesn't mean it'll happen again! Umi just sort of sits off to the side by herself for their little 'break', playing the moves over and over again in her head.

She'll figure something out. Whether it's better or worse, they'll find out soon enough. The clock is ticking, and as soon as those five minutes are up, Umi will call them right back to work.]

Sure! I have spicy ones too if you would like to try them.

[The innocent duet of schemers happily share sweets during their break time. Kotori has avoided Umi's temper until now and thus ignores how terrifying the situation could have become... or may end as. Umi just wants them to succeed, it can't be that bad!

Once called the two of them obediently return to the seaside.]

Sure! [She tries the spicy ones, and eep they are hot but good all the same. But then the call comes and they both hurry back to await what Umi's verdict would be. Honoka look to Umi with wonder and anticipation.

Will it be easier? Or are their fates sealed?]

[umiiroshoujo]

[They're doomed. DOOMED. Okay, maybe not really. Umi has a new step for them to try!]

Are you two ready to continue? Good.

[No is not an acceptable answer. Without any further hesitation, Umi proceeds to demonstrate the new move for them.]

Try that instead.

We are ready.

[... Or so she thought. W-Why was the step replaced by spin, step, spin, step? T-they are just going to crash even worse. The little bird is a bit hesitant.]

[She stares in horror. It's harder. It's harder.]

Umi, maaaaybe we can take out the spins! [Certainly this couldn't be the real footwork. Certainly Umi is only joking.]

[Why can't everyone be so graceful!? Seriously, it shouldn't be that hard.]

You haven't even tried yet! Just repeat it after me.

[And she does it again.]

[This is not what they were promised!]

O-okay...

[The bird goes first and attempts the new steps. No tragedies yet but once they both do it at the same time...]

[Honoka also gives it a go. Okay. She seemed to survive.]

Maybe this won't be so hard after all!

[Until the incoming disaster.]

See, it's not hard.

[Don't complain you two, or she'll have to make another step.]

Practice it a few times alone, then work on trying it together.

[Given this pattern the next step with be even harder, won't it?]

Thanks, Umi! We'll do our best.

[Kotori repeats the step, successful once again. Maybe they won't crash terribly the moment Umi turns her back to them! Maybe.]

[She tries it again. Almost screws it up, but manages.]

Let's try it together now, Kotori!

[Somehow she's afraid this won't end well.]

[What can go wrong besides everything?]

Okay. One, two... three!

[And they do. How long until they spin into each other quite painfully?]

[It seems to be going well until Honoka misses a beat, spins late, and WHAM

right into Kotori...]

[The pain! Kotori lets out a shriek at the crash and tries to move away, one of her legs getting entangled between Honoka's in the process. Down they go.]

[umiiroshoujo]

[Sigh. Umi facepalms. Come on, it's not that hard!]

Honoka, your timing was off.

[honokairo]

[Her face scrunches in pain as she tries to untangle herself from Kotori. From the ground, she looks up at Umi.]

I missed a step!? [Oh noooo]

[unbalancedlove]

[She tries to do the same thing which makes raising from the ground easier. Their clothes are dirty now though.}

Did she?

[Neither of them even notice...]

[umiiroshoujo]

You spun just a moment too late.

You'll need to work on your timing.

[honokairo]

Ohhhh.... [She's not sure if she'll get it but she has to get it she has to]

Come on Kotori, let's try to get this right. Maybe we should slow down and work on it before we put it together again.

That sounds good... speed isn't good for us.

[It really hurt and you are not light, Honoka.]

Whenever you are ready.

[honokairo]

Okay! [This time, it's taken slower. Step, spin, stepppp....

Teeeeteeeerrrr....... oh nooooo she's losing her balance...]

Yaaaaah! [TRYING NOT TO CRASH INTO KOTORI....HOPEFULLY SHE DOESN'T SPIN INTO HONOKA....]

[Umi watches them like a Talonflame examining its prey. Step it up, you two!

When she spots Honoka starting to lose her balance, she holds her breath. Come on, don't mess it up again...]

W-waah!

[Not again! This time the birdy girl is mentally prepared and defies the step by spinning to the other side. This means nothing is stopping Honoka now though!]
