Who: Everyone!
Where: The newly discovered island
What: After recent events, the people of Union could use a bit of R&R. What better place than a tropical island?
Warnings: Drinks with little umbrellas in them, swimsuits, idek



An island paradise, discovered just off the southern coast, less than a day's travel from the city. A strong enough Pokemon could easily carry their partner and others out there. It was hard to say just who sent the original message, but pictures surfaced, with the tagline "Don't you wish you were here," came over the warp bands' feeds, and, like Venomoths to the flame, people began clamoring toward this new found tropical get-away. Those who wanted to go would find it easy enough--with so many people making their way to investigate, for whatever reason they claimed (but let's be honest, it was probably the beach), one could just hitch a ride.

The island itself appeared untouched by human contact. The Pokemon were strange and different compared to the fare immediately around Union. A warm breeze blew through palm trees, carrying the scent of hibiscus flowers. The water, blue as the summer sky, was warm and inviting.

This truly was a paradise.

[Yang Xiao Long got here via the power of mystery (actually, by asking a fisherman with a boat very nicely and then giving him a big tip).]

[Of course, she has a bit of a reputation; she's exuberant, flamboyant, and maybe a little crazy. Is she going to show up wearing something ridiculous?]

[The answer would be YES: a T-shirt and long pants because there could be stinging insects and poisonous plants, man! She doesn't want to get stung or a rash or something! That'd be stupid! And that's why she has a hat with an extra-extra-extra-wide brim, to keep the sun out of her eyes while she's exploring. The brim is wide enough to tip over drinks and accidentally scoop up small children if she's not looking.]

[Jason arrives in an equally mysterious manner or maybe he headed over with Yang, who really knows and does it matter?

Jason is there with Bolt, Piper, and Ventus. Apparently his new group needs a vacation too. The trip to the island does make him consider that perhaps he should work on getting a Water-type Pokemon for such occasions. But, what are you going to do? That can be a plan for another day. Right now he'd rather enjoy the change of scenery and warm air blowing on his face and through his hair. He's out of the Ranger uniform and wearing far more casual and lighter clothes.

Jason can't help but eye Yang strangely. Honestly he should know better but he blurts out anyway.]

What are you wearing Yang?

The best hat!

[Yang has only her newest teammate here: a Magikarp. It's flopping next to her and staring up at Jason and his team. It probably has no soul.]

I figured I wanted to make sure I kept the sun out of my eyes. Maybe I went overboard, though.

[The birds ignore the Magikarp, but Bolt is ever curious and hops over towards the floppy fish, poking at it with his tail and a soft 'Pii?' sound.]

Aren't you afraid it'll get blown off or something? Plus it looks pretty bulky to go exploring in.

[She waves a hand, dismissively.]

It'll be fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

[Which is when a gust lifts the hat right off her head.]

HEY!

[You have terribly timing Yang. Jason jumps for the hat, using a burst of wind to help counter the gust that took it to begin with. Jason snatches it out of the air and lands in the sand a few feet away, thanks mostly to his wind powered jump.

He smiles at turns back around.]

See? Not a very practical hat.

[He offers it to her.]

Aw, my hero!

[Yang applauds, then she grins. She watches him come down, then she puts the hat on her head, and tugs it tighter, just so it doesn't blow off in another gust.]

[Probably. It is basically a sail.]

Where'd you learn that jump, Jace? That was awesome.

Well, Bolt's been helping me with some of my electrical abilities, so I thought I should also keep working on my wind control.

[He may have had his Enlightened powers for awhile, but he's still learning his limits and what he can do with them.]

I figured out I can use the wind to help give me boosts...can't exactly fly...but it's helpful.

You're gonna be flying at this rate, buddy. [She nods, cheerfully, at that. Then she crosses her arms behind her back, while she paces, and turns to look at him.]

I can't fly, really. I've learned to do some crazy jumps. And, you know... time some blasts to really send me flying, if I need to. But I can't control it as well as you did there.

Uwaaah! Hey!

[Guess who's caught in your hat.]

Wha--oh, hey!

[Yang looks up at Squid Girl but it's kinda hard to get a good view, given that it's... a hat.]

Uh, how'd you do that?

[This is totally Yang's fault but denial seems like a better strategy!]

I didn't!

[She flails around uselessly inside the brim, trying to fight her way out.]

How'd you get there, then!? I don't just pick people up by accident with my hat!

[THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT OCCURRED]

Yes you did! That's exactly what you did!

N-No way, I wouldn't...

[She laughs nervously.]

I don't seem like the kinda girl to do that, do I?

[moemoetentacles]

Beats me, I don't even know you.

[She's apparently just gonna lay there in the hat now.]

I'm Yang! And...

[...pause.]

Are... you in my hat still?

[crimson_pinnacle]

I didn't expect to see you here! Hey!

[Red is securely waist-deep, if not a little more in the water, and doesn't plan on coming out any time soon.]

[ember_celica]

Heeeeeey, Red! [Yang waves her hand eagerly in his direction.] You enjoying the water?

[crimson_pinnacle]

Yeah! You should--Well it's a bit cold actually!

[He thinks twice about inviting her in, since he's recently been chased into the ocean by someone, and so perhaps that means she might also be offended by his state of dress. He does wave back though.]

[ember_celica]

I'm good right here! Bad clothes for going into the water, anyways.

[She looks down, raising an eyebrow.]

Why're you in there if it's a bit cold?

[crimson_pinnacle]

Oh. Yeah I guess those would be.

[At the question, he reaches up to adjust his hat, which is currently being watched over by Abby, so it's not on his head and he blushes for perhaps the first time that day.]

Well. That's a funny, and long story. You wouldn't happen to have a towel, would you?

[Her eyebrow quirks and she looks down at the pond, then up at him, while her brain works through it. It doesn't take long, but she exaggerates that to give him a funny look.]
