It's the morning of the 19th and it's clear even to the inexperienced traveler that the city has a different air to it. If it wasn't the atmosphere that got them, then the stalls lining the streets would. Many people are still working on getting set up for the night festival, but the stalls that are complete are lining many corners and they are filled to the brim with bright colors. From afar, the streets look like someone threw a rainbow of paint across the city.

They haven't seen anything yet.

It's not yet time for the festivities so any visitors are free to wander the streets. The natives seem to be delighted if amused at all the people interested in the holiday and are happy to sell anyone as much colored powder as they want. They are glad to explain the fascinating origins of the holiday or even talk shop about what they're planning to show off later in the night. It seems that not even the gloom and unease that might have rolled into town with Union has caused these people to falter with their grandest tradition.

Sometime close to noon is when things change. The natives all kind of stop what they're doing. The colored stalls start to close up and everyone looks tense. Those who visited last year might take this as their cue to get ready.

A long, rattling trumpet sound rings through the streets and that is when all hell breaks loose.

It's every person and pokemon for themselves. Have fun everyone.

[ Then it's a guaranteed success, isn't it? They'll take everything nice and slow tonight. Wouldn't want anything to happen to the clothes they got for Natto to study. In fact, they should probably pack those up for safekeeping.

Which means they'll need to take them off, first. As soon as is convenient.

Gene is now enamored with the idea of making it snow. Singing and dancing in the snow is almost as fun as singing and dancing in the rain, and can only happen at certain times, so in a way it's even more special. You should try! You should try! ] Woop!

[ ....Allegro probably meant Gene, but that didn't register. ]

[once they're away from the main dancing area, Michiru stops to just look into your eyes and smile. She had fun today.]

...Osh. [uh. He can make stuff wet, but he can't make it snow...]

[ Haruka returns the smile: same. And the times she had the most fun were the times spent with you.

Maybe they should top the night off with something unforgettable.

Wet is good, though. Wet is very good. Gene seems interested in this. Show him! Show him! Make something wet! ] Woop!

[she wouldn't mind that at all, no. Michiru takes a step back, as if to go, and then turns and holds out her hand to you.] Let's go.

[Allegro is slowly starting to wonder if he had assumed too much when he decided that Gene is also a water type.

Well, only one way to find out, right? He takes a deep breath and] Osha!! [Water Gun right at Gene's face!!]

Mm. [ They go.

Just in time to miss Gene taking a Water Gun to the face. It splatters all over his wide, vacant smile, his eyes closing in surprise as it hits.

Then they open, and he bounces in excitement. How amazing! How amazing! That felt great! Wow! You should do that to everybody! ] Woop! Woop! Woop! Woop! Wooop!

[Allegro blinks, and then suddenly does a 180 and taps his shell proudly.]

Osha, oshawott! Shawott. [well, he is a pretty top tier Pokemon! And since he's pretty generous too, he can totally help others cool off if they look hot.]

Woop! Woop! Woop! [ That is the most amazing thing Gene has ever heard. He lifts his feet extra-high in appreciation as he hops in place. Skips, even. Jumps. One could even say...dances.

A little raincloud is forming over Allegro's head. ]

[Allegro nods, basking in the glow of Gene's admiration. You know, the Wooper isn't too bad! One shouldn't judge another by their weird single-mindedness or vacant looks or - ]

Osh. [a droplet falling on his head causes him to look up. What the...?]

[ And thus, it rains. It rains in Caldera on the Day of Fire.

But only atop Allegro's head.

Gene is so happy he jumps in the air and knocks his feet together. Hooray! Hooray! ] Woop! Woop!

[Allegro is still staring - long enough to drops to fall into his eyes.] Osha!

[ah, it's in his eyes! He shakes his head, trying to get the water off but. You know. This is actually feels better than all the heat.]

Osh... [that was...actually a good idea.]

Woop! [ Was it? And - wasn't it??

Gene turns his own face up beneath the rain cloud so he can reap this reward too. ]

[Allegro watches, wondering if he had just made a new friend. And trying to ignore that odd sinking feeling in his tummy.

This is going to be a troublesome one, isn't it? (not that he's ever troublesome! At all!)]

[ Gene, oblivious, has realized that if he opens his mouth he can also take care of the fact that he is thirsty. So now he is gargling rainwater. While singing to himself.
