It's the morning of the 19th and it's clear even to the inexperienced traveler that the city has a different air to it. If it wasn't the atmosphere that got them, then the stalls lining the streets would. Many people are still working on getting set up for the night festival, but the stalls that are complete are lining many corners and they are filled to the brim with bright colors. From afar, the streets look like someone threw a rainbow of paint across the city.

They haven't seen anything yet.

It's not yet time for the festivities so any visitors are free to wander the streets. The natives seem to be delighted if amused at all the people interested in the holiday and are happy to sell anyone as much colored powder as they want. They are glad to explain the fascinating origins of the holiday or even talk shop about what they're planning to show off later in the night. It seems that not even the gloom and unease that might have rolled into town with Union has caused these people to falter with their grandest tradition.

Sometime close to noon is when things change. The natives all kind of stop what they're doing. The colored stalls start to close up and everyone looks tense. Those who visited last year might take this as their cue to get ready.

A long, rattling trumpet sound rings through the streets and that is when all hell breaks loose.

It's every person and pokemon for themselves. Have fun everyone.

No, I haven't but I might have to. You may have found the one food item that's not spicy.

Ah yes, do be careful though, they try to powder some pepper seasoning on it. I couldn't escape at least one or so get sprinkled with it. I'm not sure if Rei even noticed it on hers. Although... [Oh! Now she wondered if Rei's abilities prevented her from Capsaicin which was a chemical irritant.] Well, thank you, thank you for inspiring a new experiment!

How is the theater?

[Michiru giggles. And since her hands are busy, she can't hide her smile behind a polite hand like she usually does.]

I will deny any involvement in the matter, but I would like to know when you find out.

As for the theater, repairs are going smoothly. The living areas have been repaired, but it looks like the more intricate parts of the building [read: the more historical and/or expensive parts] will take longer to fix.

[a date auction, to be exact. Her eyes look amused, if a little sly.] I suspect you'll have to take Rei's feelings into consideration as well.

Rei's feelings? Why? I'm sure she'll be just as interested in helping the theater. I mean, we do discuss big financial items, certainly, but I highly doubt she'll find a reason to be upset about assisting your fundraiser.

They've settled on a date auction.

[it's certainly not her first choice, but. Well. It does capitalize on the actresses' popularity.]

[Her eyes widened and her face went purple. She cleared her throat.]

I am very sure that someone attempting to buy Rei may very well cause me to freeze the place, good intentioned or not. [Ami doesn't even consider for a moment that someone would want to buy her outside of Rei or maybe to take care of their taxes this year.]

Haruka-san and you are okay with someone possibly being won by another? Or will you simply buy each other? [She wouldn't past either of them.]

That's part of the reason why I didn't ask; we don't need to end up with more damage than we started with. [Michiru definitely looks amused at your reaction, but at least she's not openly grinning.]

Apparently, we're not allowed. [at least they've thought that far ahead.] And unless Haruka has stopped flirting with other girls, I don't see how this changes anything.

Well, if Rei wishes to do it, I will... endeavor not to stress. Rei is very much able to handle herself in matters and has done so, but all the same, I am grateful for your understanding.

I'd come shopping with you regardless, but neither of us would mind. [if anything, it would nip a couple of potential problems in the bud.]

Oh, I am aware, but then Haruka-san needn't worry and I can spend the day with you as well. Besides, I trust your opinion on something so elegant as a wedding gown.

You're too considerate. [not that she's going to complain. At least she won't have to pretend to go on a date with you.]

Are you going for matching gowns? [or something else?]

I will speak with Rei on the matter, I'm sure she will understand. [Especially if it saves Michiru from men and politicians. Though Ami can only bid so high, even as a medic.]

Well, we might go for matching gowns, but that is not something we're specifically aiming for.

Well, something a bit more traditional, but balance is perhaps our greatest theme. Rei is my elemental equal and I hers.

Actually, that sounds perfect. [if she sounds at all wistful, it's probably your imagination. Or the atmosphere.

[She notices it, or perhaps she doesn't it's hard to say. She blushed.]

Perhaps you can offer some advice, Michiru-san. We want a fall wedding but I want to make sure that something of both of us is represented.
