Operation: Gigas Freedom Event Start
True to their word the Seekers lead the teams discretely through the winding streets of Gigas and into service entrances, gaining them admittance into the heart of Gigas’s political compound. Bringing them stealthily along the catwalks, the Union infiltrators were brought to the inner sanctum, close to the captive Gigases and their mission.
Sharp-looking soldiers in fatigues holding machine guns patrolled diligently, although their demeanor was not especially tense. It seemed no immediate operations were taking place at this time as no engineers were present. And in their enormous cages, the Gigases slept. Waiting.

everyone elseMichiru to chime in, but she also places a palm against the console. "We're low on time."Those who have worked with Haruka before - who can see through her Brilliant Divine Defense Force Disguise, as well - will recognize this stance as preparation for Earthquake. Unless her partner tells her otherwise, she's going to attack.

"Wait a second. We still don't know how that thi-- how the Gigas in there is going to react to us showing up, but we can be sure that blowing holes in the walls is going to bring every guard in this place down on our heads. We're short on time but we still have enough to play this smart."
He walked up to the glass, looking through at the massive God on the other side. His own gut was reporting the same thing as Rei's, that something wasn't right here. He didn't want to dive in headfirst just yet.
"It looks like we're the Gardevoir Club here today. A couple of us should be able to teleport in there, get an idea of what we're dealing with and we go from there." He looked back, sparing a glance toward Lash who had been eerily silent on this journey, the elegant Gardevoir bowing her head, and then looked to the rest of his team. "If it checks out, then we can start blasting Gigas' junk to pieces. Sound good?"

"Do we know anything about how they're being held like that?" She's examining the console, hoping that something might be labeled. If blowing up the console does nothing, then destroying all that machinery will take longer than they've got.
Gardevoir drifts towards her Trainer, sensing a job for her to do.

"All right, well, figure it out then I guess."
The console itself is unmarked, but does possess a keyboard interface and a strange, corded item with two buttons on the top that, when jiggled, brings light to the monitor that displays login information and moves a cursor along the screen.

Focused on the task at hand, Harry hadn't quite noticed Lash floating up to his side. Or her reaching up to lightly touch him in mid-sentence before the tall wizard suddenly blinked out of the room entirely.
"-that." Harry blinked, disoriented for a moment at his new surroundings before sensing a great big something behind him. Slowly, he turned around and found himself gazing straight up in the Gigas' great, great big eyes. "Um. Hey... big guy."
Lash smiled faintly.

Or, well, if she's on console duty, she'll do what she can. Starting by trying to figure out how to control the cursor. This object, right? Haruka puts her hand on it and moves it around. What happens if she presses this button on the left?

Floating in midair in front of the giant only makes her feel small. It takes her a moment, but she manages to tear her eyes away and start trying to make sense of the machinery.

She tries to meet it's eye, smiling in what she hopes is a reassuring manner.
"We'll get you out of there."
Brrreeep Bahreeep
"We suspect the console has something to do with the perimeter's controls, and it's protected by some kind of code or password, but if you can get pass that, you should be able to change the regulatory systems. If you can't figure it out, link the console to a warp band and we can attempt to brute force the password."
Kurapika stated in a clipped tone, relaying the information as quickly and professional as possible. "Look for anything unusual on the console, it might give you a hint."

Fortunately, that feeling is quickly replaced by supplanted by something else completely beyond the understanding of his mere mortal mind. His brow furrows at his Warp Band as Kurapika's speaks a string of words that, individually, he understands just fine but put together in that order somehow sound like some bizarre, arcane language.
"Cool." He says after a beat. "So, somebody go ahead and do... that."
Lowering his arm, he looks at Rei and Michiru.
"Let's take a look around. See if we can figure anything out on this side."

She'll give herself two or three tries of possible passwords, at most. Anything beyond that and they're wasting time - while members of their group are risking their lives on the other side.

Still, each second they spend here makes the odds of just that happening go up so there's no time to relax. He'd fought Gigas his entire adult life and seen plenty of their toys in action but this setup is beyond him. No, that's not entirely true. Whatever the scale things have to work a certain way, right? So, that means....
"There has to be something powering all this." He says, pressing a hand to one of the large machines and feeling the energy running through it. "There should be a box somewhere running all that, might have a little lightning bolt picture on it. Or a guy getting zapped by one. We find that, maybe we can shut the whole thing down from in here."
no subject
That would take time, and likely time is not what the team has as suddenly the enormous Gigas lurches suddenly, sending shockwaves through the building and causing it to shake violently.
"That can't be good," Celito says, looking genuinely concerned.
no subject
No time, though. And the terminal's gone nonresponsive, so she shoots a glance at everyone joining her at the console. "Stand back."
And please, Michiru, try to convince the god they're doing this for its own sake....
She takes a deep breath and, unless someone grabs her arm or knocks it astray, Earthquakes the machine.

"We're trying to free you. Any suggestions would be appreciated." Just in case, Gardevoir psychically sends the message along, as well as lingering feelings of trust and protectiveness for her Trainer.
no subject
"This is...it shouldn't be moving. Should it?"
She sounds unsteady, uncertain for the first time in a long while. Were they going to have to fight?

He glances back, sensing Rei backing up and he can hear the fear in her voice and see it in the death grip she has on her weapon. She's scared, and he can't blame her. She's still young, capable, brave and strong but young all the same. And Harry's the oldest in the group... time to start acting like it. His expression hardens.
"They're doing something." He turns back to the Gigas, scanning over the machinery. "We have to... to...."
There's another boom in the next room as Haruka's Earthquake goes off in the next room and he rolls his eyes. This is getting them nowhere, time to do some damage.
"Oh, screw it. FORZARE!" His voice booms and he thrusts his staff forward, unleashing his own building-shaking blast of raw, psychic energy. Not at the Gigas, but at the machinery holding it.

Go, humans! I cannot control myself! Not while he stands!
The Gigas continues to thrash about. Below, you can hear the screams of Gigas soldiers and scientists who just arrived on the scene to investigate. As the Gigas continues to destroy everything around it, scaffolding begins to fall from the rafters, several large pieces sure to crush the Gigan forces should they remain unaided.
"Damn it!"
Celito begins charging light in his hand but stops short, his eyes wide.
"What is she... wait! NO!"
It's unclear what he's seeing, but at this time he is too distracted to take action. Looks like it's up to the others.

The tiny Psychic Pokémon zooms above the Gigas forces, hoping to cast a strong enough Reflect to, if not completely keep the wreckage at bay, slow it down long enough for others to get the Gigas citizens to safety (see, Rise? Michiru? She remembered the plan). Outside, Uranus receives similar instructions: to try and help anyone in the area who's in danger from what's happening underground.
"Retreat!" she snaps at the others, figuring she doesn't have to tell them to help try and keep the whole place from caving in in the process (they are from Union, and all).
Celito, however? She is letting fend for himself. That whole situation smacks of something that isn't her business.

"Defendarius!" His hand thrusts forward again and a barrier of telekinetic power springs to life in time to intercept a few pieces of heavy debris from crashing into their place on the catwalk. The wizard grunts, grits his teeth and holds the shield in place and yells back over his shoulder. "Lash!"
His Gardevoir arches an eyebrow and looks downward with a look of open disdain on her features. Flippantly, she raises a hand and sends her own Psychic downward to assist Haruka's Reuniclus in protecting the soldiers though she's clearly not putting much enthusiasm toward it.
"We're not winning this today!" Harry shouts back to the two young women there with him. "Move! I'll cover us!"
no subject
Meanwhile, her Gardevoir pulls them off to the side, away from the falling machinery. From the looks of it, the god didn't need their help after all.
In quick secession, Gardevoir sets up a Reflect for the team while Michiru uses Psychic to help keep the soldiers from getting crushed. All bets are off, however, if they start to attack.
