Good Things Come in Fours
The day begins with a commotion around the gates of Union. The Guards, who otherwise have been left with little else to do but to clear the paths leading in and outside of the city’s walls of snow and ice, gather en masse as a small party of strangely dressed individuals congregate there. Standing at the head of the crowd is a young woman, her two-toned hair and odd clothing a stark contrast from the norm around Union, holds herself confidently, a jovial smile on her face.
“Like I said,” She began, her voice surprisingly peppy, bouncing slightly on her heels, “We want to speak with your leader. It’s very important, and we've come such a long way.”
It’s an unusual scene to say the least, and as people pass by, they may catch the young woman’s eye, getting a pleasant smile and a chipper wave before she redirects her attention to whoever she happens to be talking to. Passers-by are urged to keep moving, nothing to see here, and after a very long, very circuitous series of conversations, the newcomers are given a personal escort.
The rest of the day passes without incident, until the evening, when all Warp Bands come to life. Standing in the frame is a young woman, no older than 18 or 19, her black-and-white hair tied up to one side with looks to be a crystal of pure ice. She smiles, practically beaming, leaning in toward her audience.
“Hello, people of Union! My new friend tells me that all of you should be able to hear and see me. What a convenient thing, haha. In any case, my name is Sveta, and I come representing a group of individuals calling themselves the Elite Four. I must say, actually seeing this city, I’m impressed! The stories don’t do this place justice. I hope to be able to meet more of the Gods’ chosen for myself while I’m visiting!”
Humming a bit to herself, she sits down, crossing her legs. “We believe that fate has brought us together. We heard that there were other civilizations out there, but never did we imagine that there would be people with the same aspirations as us! But I should explain. You see, the Elite Four, seek to understand our past, and be able to atone for the wrongdoings that our ancestors have committed. So you can imagine how excited we were when we heard about Union. I had to rush over.
“I promise that we won’t take up too much of your time or space, but I want to get to know you, the people of Union, better! I believe that we can all come together and create a better world. Your council has been kind enough to give us temporary lodging here within the city. I hope that we will be able to get along! Okay, how do I turn this of--”
And with that, the impromptu feed ends, the cheery young woman’s face fading away before another quick message takes over the airwaves. But worry not, citizens of Union. Over the next few days, the young woman from a strange new land will be wandering the streets of your city, observing, talking to others, and generally doing her best to not make a nuisance of herself. It’s hard to say how successful she’ll be at that last part.

I think you will find Union most welcoming to new arrivals. Might I ask where you, and this 'Elite Four', are from? Was it a long journey to get here?

We're from Ever Grande, the city reclaimed by nature. It's a long ways away from here, to the east.
[ Sveta adjusts herself in her seat, smiling. ]
You know my name, but I don't know yours. To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking?

[ A honedge drifts into view over one shoulder, single eye squinting suspiciously. Sophia does not appear to notice - or perhaps she's merely used to Ymir's ways now. ]
I can honestly say I have never heard of such a place. Most of the people that Union have met so far have been from the west for the most part, or from the north. What is it like there?

It's like a paradise on earth. The city sits on top of a large waterfall, and you can see for miles. It's beautiful.
Not to say your home isn't, it's just different. I like the snow, it's a nice touch! [ She giggles a bit. ]

[quite sincerely] It sounds wonderful. Do you have a picture of it?
Haha, all homes are special in their own fashion to those who grew up there. [and Union is her home now, isn't it?] Union is uniquely positioned to enjoy all of the seasons, though I am told that Glacier in the North is almost permanently surrounded by snow and ice.

[ Her eyes light up, and the crystal holding her hair back glows faintly. ]
Yeah? Sign me up, I love the cold! I'll have to make sure to stop by on our way back. Although that sounds a bit out of the way.

Indeed! I have not had the chance to visit, but I hope you are able to find time to do so. Though I understand that your visit here is your priority at this time?

That's right. We're looking for others who have similar views as us. We want to come together to help create a better world.

I believe that is a dream shared by many here, especially those native to Union. A better world indeed.. Where strength of heart might lead rather than that of arm. That is a peaceful future I too would strive for.

Tell me, how was it you came to hear tales of Union from so far away? I know there are traders that travel between some of the cities, but none that move so far east. They must have taken a very long time to reach you.

You are also Enlightened then? At least, that is the term used here. I know that the other cities have different names.

I have not yet had the honour of being in the presence of the gods [
that she knows of/can remember] but I do not believe that a more formal term has be granted to those who met them under other circumstances.You may wish to speak with those who visited Glacier last year. They might be able to say more on that than I.

There are people here who have been there? Isn't it a bit far from your settlement? Not that I can talk, we're pretty far out ourselves.

A bond made with a pokémon is considered a very serious trust here. Is that the same where you are from?
Oh indeed it was, from the accounts I was given. But the need was great, and Union's generosity to those seeking aid is well founded.

It is something worth pity - but with kindness and consideration, anyone can be shown the error of their ways. I truly believe that.
I am surprised that you had not heard of the great battle, given that you know stories of Union. [her face falls] It was terrible. A great white dragon appeared, with men at its side, and began to wipe out life in Glacier. Both people and pokémon were attacked, their homes destroyed. Even the wild ones were not immune to the loss of their habitat. The destruction was indiscriminate..
[she closes her eyes a moment, suppressing a shudder. She had hated to read about it, such destruction had been frightening to think about - and she hadn't even seen it in person!]
People from Union, Caldera and Citadel went to their aid, to prevent further loss of life. And the Gods appeared to help them stop the destruction.
[weakly] There are those who were there, that could give a much better first person account.

So they had something to do with the event in Glacier.Sveta's eyebrows furrow, and she looks a bit concerned. ]
I see, so that's what happened. I heard that there were difficulties to the north, but I didn't realize that they were that severe.

It is hard to imagine, isn't it. But, the fighting stopped, and pokemon and humans working together to rebuild? That shows how far we've come. Weathering adversity like that.
I hope you have not encountered anything like that near to your home.
