9th Prayer: Tying the Thread [Video/Action]

[Today when Rei addresses the Warp Band, it's in her most formal attire, her clothing perfectly pressed and everything about her as positively lovely as can be. It's important to her to present this face to Union, for both of them. And for her family name. She didn't care much about how her father perceived it, but she didn't want to make trouble within the Council either. It might make things harder on Ninetales Vale, and she couldn't have that. She had responsibilities, and she had her reasons, and to be honest? She wanted to look good for the announcement.

Clearing her throat, hands folded out of view, Rei speaks in a solemn voice.]

Good afternoon, everyone. This is Rei Hino, High Priestess of Hikawa Shrine and daughter-heir of Councilman Takashi Hino. I know it's been some time since I actually broadcast anything, but something happened to me a few days ago. I've been trying to process all of it, to sort out my thoughts. As many of you know, Ami Mizuno and I have been courting one other for some time now.

[She takes a breath, lets it out, and stares significantly at the camera.]

That chapter of our lives has now come to a close. We are no longer dating.

[Lowering her eyes, Rei smiles a wispy little smile and raises her hand to show off a ring.]

We are engaged to be married, and plan to do so within the next year. I want to thank each and every one of you for your support during our courtship, and for your continued support during the transition. It brings joy to my heart knowing that some of you took time out of your day to help her with her proposal plan.

[Her eyes flick up, her lips peeling back in the happiest smile she's ever given in any sort of public appearance. It's as much a dig at a certain someone as it is an expression of genuine delight.]

Thank you for listening, and Happy Salvation to all of you.

[Closing down the feed, Rei lets out a breath and awaits the inevitable flood of visitors, neighbors and callers. It's going to be a busy day.]

[For a moment, Maka's not sure what her emotions or expression are doing--when Rei says "we are no longer dating" something cold grips her stomach, but then the showing of the ring causes a jolt of something to shiver through her.

Rei's getting married! Rei and Ami are getting married! This is wonderful, this is fantastic news--probably the best December Maka's ever experienced in recent years.]

Neesan, congratulations! Or, actually, should I be saying neesans now?

[That's not remotely grammatically correct in Japanese and she knows it, but she's smiling so broadly and dammit Maka don't start crying again--you've done enough for one year.]

[The delight in Maka's voice was impossible to miss, and Rei leans back in her chair with her warmest smile. She also takes the half second it takes to filter their conversation so she can be more open and honest, not wanting to give a spectacle to the whole city. The point of the public broadcast was not that.

But in private? She could be free with her words and emotions.]

Thank you, onii-chan. I suppose you probably could say that, couldn't you?

[There's a whuff of laughter and she leans forward, eyes shining.]

Won't you come visit me though? I'd rather hear it in person.

[There's nothing at first but a breath of disbelief, a lean of her head to the side and a twisting of her hands together.]

You want me to? I didn't want to just assume and come over, interrupting the happy couple and all.

I would love more of the peppermint ones, absolutely. And Ami? Well, she loves blue as much as I do red. And...sweet things. Blueberries, orange flavors, that kind of thing.

[The warp band communication only reminds Raine that she had been intending on paying another visit to the shrine anyway. She had already visited a few times, so it wasn't an unusual choice; besides, she had a few things to deliver anyway.

She finds a seat to sit and wait patiently for either woman not to be too busy.]

[It's not long before Raine is greeted, though not initially by Rei herself, but by a small orange and brown Pokemon. A Litleo, and it bounds out to greet the stranger with a kitten-y growl at that.

Honestly, it's trying to be tough, but it's just too small...]

[ Tapping noises. Light streams into the Warp Band again, and accompanied by the tip-tapping of tiny feet down a hall, an uneven feed of what might be a hallway streaming past.

Thud. A door flies open. ] Jolteon!!

Leav leava. Leavanny vanvan. [ The Warp Band is passed from whoever's holding it to someone with a much steadier grip. ]

Hey...

[ Haruka Tenoh, peering at the screen. Haruka Tenoh, being filled in by a chorus of "van" and "jolt" in the background. Haruka Tenoh, realizing the screen is on.

Haruka Tenoh, sighing. ] You caused a fuss.

[This is a surprise. Rei winces when she notices who it is that's on the Warp Band. Natto...Gold...
