[Is it any wonder that Commander ~~Handsome~~ is one of the first to perfect the use of the new video equipment? After all, dramatic speeches are so much more effective when he can showcase his cheekbones to their full potential.

Except now he's keeping it short and sweet, preoccupied with other matters, clearly:]

It seems recent events have sparked an...admirable rush of civic pride. I encourage anyone who is interested to see about applying for the Scouting Corps. We can always use Rangers with your sort of passion and drive.

As for everyone else -- continue to serve Union and humanity whole-heartedly.

[He answers Erwin first, since that's the easier question:] Officially, it would be a routine patrol mission. I'd rather not let word of this spread out; it's possible the other settlements have spies here. Besides, we all know the value of swift action.

[And now, Teresa's. He thumbs at his chin, unwilling to divulge his guesses since they're simple those - guesses. Jade dislikes giving away his thoughts unless he's 110% certain, and even then he dislikes explaining.]

I have some ideas about where to begin, but nothing concrete, I'm afraid. I thought I might start searching around the mountains first. All that machinery would be terribly heavy, so I doubt they'd have transported it very far. If nothing else, perhaps closer examination of the Caverns will reveal some clues. But, if you have any other suggestions...

Mm. It won't be long until the Council starts taking more interest in our affairs with their Brave New World ideals as well. [So yeah, agreeing with the swift. Politicians are a pain to deal with]

[As for the ideas, they seem concrete enough to her. There easily could have been clues that the other teams had overlooked, and it's not like she has any better ideas. She nods after a few seconds of thought.]

[Erwin's understated "humph" sound pretty accurately encompasses his personal opinion of the politicians -- always in the business of people who routinely face down beasts that would make the Council cry like a scared Jigglypuff.]

Haste and discretion are paramount -- I don't think I need to tell you to make certain any and all transmissions are private. We never know who might be listening. I'd also caution against attempting any solo infiltration. Information and reconnaissance only.

[It's mostly what he had been planning, although he had contemplated infiltration if the opportunity presents itself. Having Erwin caution him against it is enough to dissuade him completely.]

[Smirky smirk.] Neither of you are going to get off without interacting at least somewhat with the cadets. Jade, you can interact for ten minutes with this boy -- trust me, you'll find him interesting. Teresa, you can unleash unholy terror on a series of awkward teenagers.

And I will continue to conduct mind-numbing interviews and make nice with the Council so they don't cut our discretionary fund -- again -- and I can have a vacation to the coastline without writing it off as "recon".
