And several angry Pokémon. They have trapped Martin (with the exception of Brigadier, who is holding the Band) so that the sign Tiria wrote and pinned to his shirt can be read.

Martin, meanwhile, is just so done.]

I have a death wish and tried to stay behind with the Savior in the past and probably die.

Again.

This is the second time I've tried to died since coming back to life.

My Pokémon are not happy.

[The Doublade hisses and Brig shuts the Band off.]

Sounds about right! She's psychic-type, too, so that one's kinda literal half the time.

[Although, rather than shaming or scolding him, Feliks's Pokemon seem to have decided to kill him with kindness instead. He's making this post from the middle of a Pokemon snuggle puddle, with several of the smaller ones (an Eevee, a Togepi, a Flabebe, a Spritzee, and 2/5 of an Exeggcute) pinning him down, a Dragonair wrapped firmly around him, and several larger Pokemon ringing him in.]

I've thought about finding a Psychic-type, but I'm not sure it would be a very good idea with how often they feel the need to lecture me.

She's kind of my oldest Pokemon friend, so the worst part is she's known me since I was like this tall, so she doesn't even have to Psychic at me, she just gives me these looks like I can feel your feelings and I know you know I know what you did that was dumb and she's lucky she's my best friend, seriously.

[She teleports over just to give him a (gentle, loving) knock on the head for that one, then disappears to keep doing whatever she's doing around the apartment. Feliks just laughs about it, even as the Dragonair protests: "Don't pick on Mom, what if he runs away again?" The reply from the Gardevoir off camera is perfectly serene: "He knows I don't mean it, little one. Look at him, he isn't angry."]

I just have Boar willing to drain my energy to get me to "behave".

[The Doublade clenches his ribbons into fists and fistpumps]

Yeah, I totally saw that. Doesn't leave much room for arguing, huh?

Not really, especially with my new Fairy-type.

[As a Fairy-type himself, he gives a sympathetic wince.]

...This is totally why I don't have any Steel-types. Ignacy's bad enough.

I wasn't Enlightened at all when I first bonded with him, and when I came back I was simply a Ghost-type.

...Wait, came back?

[He nods]

At the end of last summer, there was a funeral for a member of the Swords killed in an accident in the line of duty. That was my funeral. I woke up in the forest a few months later, Enlightened and very confused.

...So it probably wouldn't work for someone who's already Enlightened, I guess.

[Which is as close as he's come to admitting out loud the possibility that the person he's looking for could have died out there.]

I don't even know what "it" is. I don't know how I came back to life or why or who did it. So who knows?

[He realizes abruptly how serious that sounded, and immediately smiles. He doesn't give off glitter the way he does when he's actually happy, though.]

Yeah, you're totally right! I was just, like, thinking aloud or whatever, you know?

[Feliks he can tell you're faking.

But he won't press because he's nice like that]

Everyone thinks the same thing when they hear about it. It's never happened before.

[That would be because Feliks is outright terrible at being anything but sort of gratingly genuine.]

Pretty mysterious! I bet the University guys just won't leave you alone.

Good call. I can see that getting old way fast.

For once, my inability to understand and fill out paperwork came in handy.

Well, work what you've got, right? I've always been a big believer in that!

[Boar cheers in the background while Tiria clearly mutters something about encouraging bad habits. Martin laughs]

It was nice to avoid being poked at again.

If you ask any of the nobles, I'm like, way too irresponsible for any Council-related business. And I think I've pretty well crossed myself off of most of their 'marriage material' lists, too!

[He sounds very proud of all this. He works hard at not working hard -- or so he'd rather have people believe. Even people who've seen him get serious, if he can help it.]

I'm not entirely sure any younger adults are "responsible" enough for the Council, if you ask the nobles and elders.

Yeah, but they think I'm too flaky to be their errand-boy or anybody's assistant or anything.

Anyway, that's 'cause I'm pretty sure the youngest person on the council is like... 107.
