[Martin looks all business. He actually has his sword visible in the Warp Band, which is obviously being held by a 'mon as Martin is gathering his pack]

I am going down to Old City to do some investigation--and before any of my nannies ask, yes I have plenty of medical supplies. You're welcome to come with me, if you'd like.

[A pause]

Matthias, if the Commander will let you, I'd like you in particular to come with me.

[[OOC: THIS IS NOT THE CONFRONTATION POST, this is just Martin going down to the Old City for some exploration to see if he can find anything out because this guy has a hero complex the size of Manhattan some times. If you signed up for Old City and want to come explore with him, please just tag the thread below!

There's more Ghost-types the closer you get to the Mausoleum and unless we have to I don't advise going near that right now. The Old City is safer than the Mausoleum on a good day and if it's gotten this bad?

[He shakes his head. As they head down, his glowing gets more and more noticeable. Dammit.]

There's no real landmarks, just marks on the walls from patrols to guide you back to the exit. [He taps one as they pass] If we get separated, follow them.

[A small, leatherbound journal came from underneath Matthias' cloak and the sound of scratching of a quill on parchment could be heard as he took note of his surroundings, the marks, and the information Martin was giving him. It ended almost as quickly, but it was notable to say the least.]

I'd rather avoid any unnecessary confrontations at all, least of all with Ghost Types. I'm afraid...they're a little outside my skill set.

[At least he could admit it though.]

Hopefully we won't get into too many scuffles--I should be fine if we come up against Ghost-types, but I agree that unnecessary confrontations would be best avoided anyway.

Agreed. I'm afraid I'm at a disadvantage down here myself, but, well. I don't mind the city as much as some people.

[At least the normal Old City. Right now, it is incredibly disturbing for him. He nearly turns straight into the wall when he tries to avoid one of the ghost-people walking around]

Savior, it wasn't this bad the other day...

[Matthias clenched his fist around his staff a little harder...he'd never seen any ghosts before outside of Pokemon and it was fairly unnerving to see them flit about. It was all he could do just to keep his eyes on Martin's back.]

If things are worse than normal here, then it was definitely worth checking out. I can't imagine anyone in Union would want this to spill out into the streets.

[Minato stiffens slightly but remains silent. The ghost-people aren't quite as worrying for him, given his place of residence, but seeing them in Old City is a cause for concern.

And the voices? The voices are not helping the Shifter's comfort levels at all.]

[Martin shudders slightly as he presses on]

Exactly. The voices are bad enough. I hope it isn't an injured Pokémon causing all this...

That...would be bad.

[Having worked almost his entire life at the Pokemon Habitat, he knew EXACTLY what an injured Pokemon was capable of. However, that left a big question if that was indeed the case.]

What...Pokemon could manifest all this while injured though? If it's worse than what normally goes on down here, then wouldn't that take quite a bit of energy to pull off?

It'd have to be something powerful, if that was the case.

[If Skarmory could pale, that's exactly what Kaoru's doing at the moment.]

Or something entirely new...which I don't want to think about, really. I'm not sure any of us are prepared to handle something new like that.

R-right...best to just observe and escape if need be.

[Did his voice just hitch a little? Nah, you're just hearing things...totally.]

As long as we exercise caution, we should be fine.

[He actually sounds a lot more confident than he feels--he's a little grateful he's in the back so the tension in his shoulders goes unnoticed.]

[It's pretty obvious, thanks to the glowing, that Martin is not comfortable.]

Agreed. Who's the fastest? I know it isn't likely me.

Um...I'm fairly quick, Basil's got me beat there though. How about you Minato?

[Basil on the other hand gave a proud pose atop his gallant steed, clearly not at all uncomfortable.]

I'd like to think I'm pretty fast if I can work my way up to a sprint. [He scratches the back of his head. Kaoru shifts uncomfortably, letting out a few uncertain chirps.]

[Tiria floats back to keep Kaoru company. Hopefully that will help his nerves.]

In that case, if something goes wrong Matthias and Basil should head back and get help. I hope nothing will go wrong but...well, better safe than sorry.

[He stops, swaying in place for a moment before shaking his head and moving on]

Am I the only one who hears the voices?

I hear...something that sounds like voices, but I can't make out what they're saying.

[It was freaking him out though, please to be stopping that.]

I've been hearing them too, just... trying to ignore them.

[Kaoru warbles softly at Tiria, a quiet thank you as he relaxes a little.]

[She carefully pats his shoulder. She gets it. It's freaky.]

I'm trying, but it isn't working so well. Perhaps because of my accident.

[Martin shudders as they get to a crossroads]

Maybe I shouldn't have come down here.

No.

[Matthias tapped his staff hard on the ground, the solid sound helping to ground him in the here and now so he could properly steel himself instead of getting caught in the what ifs. It was an old trick one of his instructors had taught him when he'd first joined the Swords and it had worked wonders since then.]

If there's something strange going on down here, we can't just leave it alone, right? If there's a chance this could spill into Union...I can't just walk away.
