A Musical Practice

Who: The Love Live! Girls, anyone who lives at Hikawa Shrine, and anyone leaving and entering the shrine! And stalkers. There are stalkers.
What: Practice for performing on stage! Their first practice ever.
When: Sometime in the afternoon, after school is over.
Where: Hikawa Shrine, Union.
Summary: Honoka has finally managed to amass a group of people to get together as a little musical group to perform. They are going to try to practice together for the first time, and that could go any number of ways.

"Hello everyone!" She shouts once all the girls who she expected to come to practice arrive. "I wasn't sure where we could practice, but I'm so glad Rei let us come here and use the courtyard! So!"

She stands, feet at shoulder width, in front of the girls, looking determined as ever.

"We'll do some singing first! And after a little break, we'll try dancing! Someone will need to clap for us to keep time, but we can alternate who does that so everyone gets to practice dancing. And then! We can get something to eat when we're done! If there's someone you don't know, get to know them a little bit before we begin our practice!"

"Okay! Let's start!"

She is Tery, a cute Scatterbug.

[The swablu points to the small bug with her wing, an action that she takes as permission to jump on it. Maki may notice that she has a handmade leaf ribbon on her head .]

I'm also happy to see her! They just seem to not get along for some reason. I told them there are more macaroons, too... maybe they are more hot blooded than we thought.

[She gives them a worried look as they continue arguing: Thieves are not high class! You even have a dirty feather under your beak!]

Tery, that's because of you...

C-Cute? [ Sorry little bird, but Maki just doesn't see cute when she sees that bug. She's not like Chie, about to freak out about it, but she definitely has a hard time seeing it as cute. ]

The only Pokemon I think Yaya gets along with really is Nico's Murkrow. [ Maki only sighs, not even realizing that she seems to talk a lot about Nico sometimes.

Yaya is still arguing though, making her way out of Maki's arms and propping herself on the girl's shoulder even as Maki is startled.

I'm not a thief! She was giving them to me, because Miss Kotori appreciates me! ]

[Eh? but Tery is really cute! look at those eyes of hers and how small she is, she is adorable. Kotori's taste in pokemon is pretty unique sometimes, yes.]

Oh, Kara and Yaya are friends? How nice, but she seems friendly to me--

[It's hard to defend you if you keep up the fight with the Scatterbug, Yaya. She puts one finger over the bug type's mouth to avoid further problems.]

Tery, don't.

[The bug whines.]

[ Sorry Tery and Kotori, Maki doesn't do so well with bugs!! ]

Ah, you've met Nico and Kara?

[ Maki is a little surprised to hear that, if only because it's strange that Maki's friendship with Nico isn't special, that she is meeting other people too. Is that...a little bit of jealousy? No way, she would never admit that. ]

You either, Yaya. You should get along with Tery. You can't just decide that Kotori belongs to you. [ Maki explains to her Pokemon, not even realizing that it might be embarrassing for Kotori. ]

[But she'll be a beautiful Vivillon someday, you'll see!]

Yup, I've have. Union feels really small, doesn't it? somehow everyone knows everyone around here.

[It's nice though since it feels like they are a big family sometimes. Some of the shopkeepers already call her by her name when she passes by even.]

We worked on our Soulfeasting costumes together and walked around together during the festival! She is such a nice girl.

[Giggle]

Did you see her earlier? she came by for a bit and joined dance practice! She said she'll give our group a try, too.

[And she is almost sparkling as she speaks so positively about Nico or, at least, her perception of her.

It may be worth some jealousy: how nice has Nico been to leave such a good impression?]

[While she is still in good mood the comment about belonging to Yaya is a bit... the birdy girl's cheeks turn red.]

Maki, you make it sound like Yaya is in love, you know.

[Tery's triple antenna stand still as she gives a vicious look to the flying type. Not her role model.]

I guess you could say that. I was surprised when everyone here pretty much already knew each other. Honoka has a way of bringing everyone together.

[ Twirling her hair idly, not that Maki is happy to be with everyone or anything! ]

A nice girl? You really haven't gotten to know her that well, have you?

[ Maki scoffs at that idea. She considers herself friends with Nico, for whatever reason, but she knows the girl is probably the most difficult person to get along with she's ever met. ...And yet she still spends hours and hours with her at her house, just hanging out together, singing, and reading. ]

She's just being obstinate. She wants nothing more than to join a group so she can be famous, so she won't join unless she thinks they are actually worth her time. She's immature, loud, and bossy.

[ Maki crosses her arms over her chest...definitely not giving away that she herself had basically the same exact issues when it came to joining. And she's definitely not hiding how she really feels or anything! ]

W-Well, I wouldn't go that far, but I think...she has some kind of fascination for you...

We could call it Honoka's magic, right?~

[Kotori giggle but her expression turns into confusion once she hears Maki's opinion on Nico. She tilts her head a bit to the left in confusion.]

Do we know the same Nico? I don't think she is like that at all... Nico loves eating sweet things and is very cute.

[Knowing only the girl's good sides she finds it hard to think of Nico as a bossy brat ~~Nico would be moved that one of her friends thinks so well of her~~. In any case she gives Maki a sheepish smile afterwards.]

Really? I'm not so special though.

[Just shiny and very fluffy.]

[ Maki just looks a little sour when it comes to Nico, even if she's blushing a little talking about the other girl. ]

You've obviously just been fooled by her. She's nothing like that!

[ Something inside of her seems to twitch, as do her ears on her head. ]

I-I mean, it's not like she can't be cute when she wants to be, and she's actually pretty good with Pokemon. She spends a lot of her time at my house, so I should know.

[ There's a lot of information in there if Kotori looks for it, but Maki tries to pretend like she's indifferent to Nico, when it's obviously not the case.

Yaya is the one who answers for Maki, who can't think of how to explain that she thinks Kotori is cute herself. ]

Fletch fletch! [ You're very pretty Kotori! The prettiest! ]

[Eh? that blush... the air headed girl does not miss such a clear sign in her friend's expression. Kotori leans just a bit closer as if to make sure she isn't seeing things.]

Maki and Nico spend lots of time together then? are you two close friends?

[There is something contemplative in her voice for Kotori is considering a particular possibility.

Kotori simply giggles at such and reaches to pet Yaya, a reaction that makes Tery pull from her sleeve slightly. Not fair, pay attention to me too!]

[ Maki hadn't even realized she had been giving away anything of her true feelings. Mostly because she can still barely admit to them herself. ]

I-It's not like I choose to see her or anything! She's just always coming over to my house. And she always stays way later than she says she is going to...

I wouldn't call us close but we are friends...

[ So much tsun in one place, she might just go super nova. Strange how she talks so much about Nico and not her girlfriend though.

Yaya is...just going to try to be above Tery's immaturity (despite being only a couple months old herself) and preen herself for Kotori to see how majestic she is! ...Even if she's a tiny little Fletchling. ]

[Kotori doesn't even know Maki actually has a girlfriend, that's how much the tsundere supernova talks about her.]

...

[Maki may notice how the birdy girl's gaze becomes brighter as she misunderstands (or understands too well?) the situation between Nico and Maki. It's somebody her friend spends lots of time with, blushes about and lets stay until very late after all!]

She must really like you!

[Tiny or not you are cute, Yaya! It may be a mysterious empathy between birds or simply the truth, it's s subjective topic after all. Kotori still spoils her own pokemon by petting it too but with both hands full she won't be able to eat any more sweets.]

[ And that right there is probably why they are close to breaking up, because Maki can't seem to focus on Chie, and instead is so focused on this new group, and Nico by extension.

That comment though is not what she would say at all, and catches her a little by surprise. ]

W-What?! I-I-I don't know where you would even get that idea!

[ Anyone with a lick of sense can tell that Maki isn't being truthful with herself her. ]

I-I don't even care if she likes me or not!

[Kotori is getting used to Maki's timid ways and thus manages to not miss even one second of her paper thin denial which feeds Kotori's (mis)understanding further. The birdy girl herself is an open book which makes her excitement clear and will only embarrass Maki further.]

You said that she is always at your place, right? Maki wouldn't let her in if she didn't like her at all. I understand, really.

You're getting the completely wrong idea!

[ Maki is up in arms, but really, she's just twirling her hair, forcing herself to look away from Kotori, to hide her face. Why would she even think that her and Nico are anything like that? ]

W-We're just like...rivals. We both want similar things, so we're helping each out for now. I've been teaching her how to play the piano and she's been helping me take care of my Pokemon and my dancing.

[Oh gosh, they have the same goals and compliment each other's weaknesses! That is truly a match made in heaven, right? even if her friend seems shy about it every word she mutters seems to engrave that idea further into her mind.]

Working towards the same goal with somebody you can rely on is truly wonderful. I'm happy for you, really!

[Her smile is wide and innocent. She is completely misunderstanding.]

[ It's none of those things! Maki and Nico can barely get along for more than a day. She went and tried to apologize and everyone on the network saw it, while she publicly embarrassed Nico. They have different views on just about everything. There's no way they are anything more than simply barely friends. Or so Maki sort of thinks.. ]

I never said I can rely on her! You're way off base!

[ Red and huffing, Maki is just going to turn her back. ] C-Come on, let's get back to practice now!

Maki's shy side is really cute~

[The disadvantage of being friends with her is that now she feels more comfortable with the feline shifter and that means this kind of friendly and a bit teasing treatment. Kotori is a harmless girl nonetheless, she means nothing bad by this.]

Mh? is break time over already?

[She looks at their demon coach's direction, noticing her sharp gaze. Yep, break time is over.]

[ Maki isn't upset with Kotori in the least. She can pretend she is, and even try to believe she is, but in the end, she doesn't hold a grudge against her. She just doesn't know Nico like Maki does. She doesn't know how impossible that girl is. How she can't even say what she really means half the time. But the thought of her relying on Nico...those thoughts won't be forgotten.

But with Umi staring at them, even Maki is quick to catch up, not wanting to get on her bad side. ]

Let's go!
