[She figures not everyone knows her name (most probably don't) so here she is again, introducing herself-]

Hi everyone! I'm Honoka Kousaka, from Caldera! I came to Union a while ago, and I wasn't sure what I would find, but what I did find was...

Singing! And dancing! And that makes people happy! [Guess who's seen some shows and went to the charity concert.]

I'm not very good, but I've been practicing. I have a Jigglypuff who's been giving me lessons, and she scolds me sometimes for messing up, but I've been working hard! And maybe one day, a bunch of us can do the same thing together.

I want to know if anyone else likes to do that too!

Action:

[Honoka can be found out in Union in various places. Idol training is hard! And Jigglypuff is making her run. She looks worn out and is whining a little about it, but she's still trying.

Later, there's dance lessons...those are going alright, but then she's not exceptionally talented at it either. It's obvious if you happen across their path.

And at the end of the day, singing lessons, right outside too- and Honoka sounds okay, but that Swellow that's with them trying to sing along is horrific!]

Well, I mean, I'll do what I can... [She thinks this bird is a lost cause though. And considering Honoka didn't notice the problem, she wonders about her too.]

...have you tried, like, practicing your scales and those kinds of basic things?

What are scales?

[UH OH. Honoka's Jigglypuff might be an idol trainer but no one said she was a GOOD one.]

Jiggly! [EXCUSE U I'M TRAINING HER DO U MIND

No it's okay Maki already told Jigglypuff off Nico can too]

[And Nico just rounds on Jigglypuff, who she had hoped was at least the competent member of the group]

Don't give me that look, you were singing right along with them letting them go on like that!

Jig! Jiggly Jig Jigglypuff! [She isn't going to waste her time on that! She knew the Swellow was awful, try waking up to it every morning!

Poor Swellow is going to go into depression at this rate.]

Don't be so mean to Pas, Crem! He's already hurt!

Everyone has to start from somewhere... [Even if somewhere is apparently at the bottom of the barrel.]

Of course you can't expect them to get anywhere if they don't know even the most basic parts of singing.

[That's right, Honoka, she just included you in there.]

[Jigglypuff puffs up at Nico. The nerve of this girl. Honoka only blinks, and Swellow wants to crawl in a hole.]

What are the basics of singing then, Nico? [She asks innocently.]

Well, like I said, scales, harmonies... do you even know sheet music?

[She straightens up, assuming proper posture]

Repeat after me: do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti do~

[She goes up through the scale in pretty much perfect fashion - this much is obviously easy, of course!]

[Jigglypuff turns her back on all of them. Fine. You can teach her, see if she cares. She'll just fix all the things that are wrong later!]

[Honoka stands up straight, and so does Swellow.]

[Swellow tries but is still off key. Nico has her work cut out for her.]

[Sigh. Why does she have to raise her competition?]

Let's start at the bottom. Do~

Do-! [They...were almost completely in tune with each other! Swellow had to try REALLY hard on that one though and it was obvious.]

[Nico winced a little at how clearly on the verge of failure Swellow was, but... it was a start?]

Do! Re! Meeeeeee! Fa! [Well, they're getting there. Honoka is doing okay, Swellow isn't, but hey, not everyone's perfect.]

[But then she stops, giving Nico a questioning look.]

Nico, what is this supposed to do anyway-?

It's supposed to teach you how to hold a tune. You can't sing if you can't consistently bring out the right notes when you want to. When a song goes "fa, re, la ti do", you need to be able to do the same, not just randomly hoping you're in the same vicinity as the notes.

[Yeah, she's lookin' at you, Swellow]

[honokairo]

[The bird winces. D-Don't look at him like that!]

But I don't use fa re la ti do to sing. Wouldn't it work using normal words?

[Nico your work is cut out for you, good luck!]

Not those exact words, those are just names for those particular notes.

So I can sing on those words, even if I don't know the real words? [That's really handy, she'll use that.] Nico, have you taught people before?

[She seems like she has. Honoka thinks so.]

Yes, it's just for learning melodies and notes. And the first and easiest way is to learn the scale from bottom to top so you know them all.

[Okay, ego stroking is a good way to get her through this]

Well, not formally... but I teach my younger siblings some things.

That means you must perform! You've sang in front of others! Is that right?

W, well, of course! [Not at anything really notable but she's gotten a little practice] I'm an idol!

[Yeah, Honoka, she wasn't inviting you to go see a concert with her...]
