Plot Description: Some kids from Union help to spread the awesomeness of Pokémon habitats to our desert neighbors.
Warnings/Notes: Probably not OSHA compliant.

Rise has just about exactly enough common sense that she did, in fact, expect that convincing Caldera's and Union's leaders that building a secondary Pokémon habitat in the desert city was a great idea would be the easy part of the endeavor. Now she and some volunteers from Union were doing what she - correctly - figured was the hard part, which was the actual construction of the sprawling structure. Fortunately, between Union's architects and Caldera's engineers, the planning wasn't up to a bunch of clueless kids, and even a lot of the construction was paid local labor - they're mostly just here as representatives of Union's willingness to help out their allies.

That's not to say they weren't doing work, of course. Rise, standing under a parasol, was coordinating the Union volunteers - split between material hauling and doing detail work on the new structure - using her powers. All in all, it was going smoothly...so far.

Break pavilion/mingle

Of course, in the heat of the Calderan day, it paid to take frequent breaks for safety reasons. There's plenty of shade and cold water on hand, and maybe some Lemonade if anyone still remembers how to make that.

Most of the time, the foreman had to tell Asemu to take a break. The heat bothered him less, being a Fire-type, and he had the tendency to work too hard. Pace was something he still had yet to master.

But when he was told to take a break, he listened. Which was why he could periodically be seen under the pavilion, drinking plenty of water and sometimes talking to people.

Breaks mean food and drink, and Asemu seems to have an abundance of one but not the other right now. Apollo's new Golett wants to fix that, and looks to what others are eating for ideas.

So have a baby Golett shoving an armful of hay at you, Asemu.

Golett is helping.

"Um..."

Asemu stares. He can't help it. First at the Golett, then back at the hay.

"What am I supposed to do with this?"

The tone in his voice only further indicates his confusion.

"Lett!"

You eat it of course! Golett has no actual mouth to demonstrate with, so it happily shoves the hay at Asemu's face instead.

"H-hey! I'm drinking here!" Asemu put up a hand to keep it away from his face. Just what was this Golett trying to do?

Golett tilts its head to the side.

"Gol?"

This is strange. Why doesn't Asemu want the hay? ...It saw other Pokémon eating other things, so maybe Asemu would rather have something else? Golett drops the hay and toddles off.

It returns some time later and shoves an oddly heavy little box at Asemu:

Ore-bits: Mineral-rich treats that your Steel-type will love!

And a picture of an cartoon Aron happily eating them.

"Lett!"

Asemu looked at the box. He was still confused, though for a different reason now.

"Uh...thanks, but my Aron is already well-fed. He's doing pretty well."

Golett shakes its head and spends a moment struggling to open the box with its giant fingers before it manages to get one of the little spherical treats out.

"Lett! Ol go!"

It shoves the Ore-bit at Asemu's face insistently, aiming for his mouth.

"Wha--hey!" Asemu pulled his face away. "I'm not a Pokémon! I don't eat things like that!"

Bluuuuuuhhhhhh...

[After a few hours of work, the heat is really starting to get to Chie. She's sitting underneath one of the tents set up for the workers, feet soaking in an ice bath as she just about melts into the chair she's collapsed in. Hot weather is rough on Ice types.]

[ And behind her comes Usagi, holding an ice cold bottle of water close to Chie's head as well as holding her own bottle. ]

Here you go! You look like you need it.

[ She only looks slightly better, if only because she's not an ice type. ]

You're a lifesaver.

[Chie sighs, closing her eyes and leaning back as she enjoys the feel of the cold bottle against her head.]

[ Usagi just chuckles in amusement as she rolls the cold water bottle across Chie's forehead once before she pulls up a chair to sit in.

Once she's plopped herself down, she just reclines and takes in a deep breath. ]

Man, it never gets this hot back home...

Ahhhhhh...

[Chie will just shamelessly enjoy that for as long as Usagi's willing to keep it up, finally opening her eyes to peer over at her once she sits down.]

Yeah, tell me about it. I should have brought something that knows Hail...

I should have brought my Slowpoke. At least he knows Water Gun...

[ And man, a water shower would have been really nice while they were working. Time to take a sip to help cool herself off. ]

So, how much work have you guys gotten done?

I should really get a Water type that can survive on land.

[All she's got is her Lumineon.]

It's coming along, I guess. I've never built a building before.

I'm kind of regretting not bringing my Slowpoke with me. He could have used Water Gun and cooled everyone off!

[ And really, she was. Oh well. Hindsight, after all. Usagi just takes another nice swig of her water and sighs. ]

I'm glad I'm not doing any real building. I'm pretty sure if I did, it'd end up lopsided or it wouldn't useable.

Kanji thought he was used to the Calderan heat by now. Perhaps ... he was less so than he'd imagined. So, here he was, in the shade, gulping down a big glass of drink.
...Maybe a little more of him was to be seen here than most people here were accustomed to seeing. (Well. It looked like those lightning markings didn't stop at his arms.) Still, why worry? A man's got to do what a man's got to do in this heat...

"Hey, Kanji. I brought you something."

Thank you based Savior That is, Rise is sure to stop by and show her appreciation to her friend in the form of ogling a frosty cup of shaved ice, wherever she got that.

There's something weird going on here, but Kanji can't quite put his finger on it... he'll be accepting the treat with a wide smile, though.

"Damn. Thanks," he says as he wraps his hands around it. Never has cold stuff felt so good.

"Whew. I'll be happier when we have enough of this built to get some shade," she says. "There's only so much I can do with like one Ice-type."

"No kiddin'." He nods. "I ain't even got any Ice-types here. Sneasel didn't fancy the trip. Can't say I blame him."

"Mizore only came out of the Warp Band on the condition she could make a few ice cubes and go back inside," Rise replies, at least explaining where she got the ice.

"Heh. Sounds like a good idea," he says with a faint smile.
