[So, what's the first thing Rei does when she gets the video set up on her Warp Band is to
turn it on and study it skeptically. She doesn't really have a lot to say, but she figures that since she finally caved and got it upgraded at Grandpapa's insistence. She didn't want him to worry overmuch when she finally did decide to go outside Union, and that was simply the only reason she'd bothered with it at all.

There's a short cawwing sound, and a Murkrow lands on the girl's shoulder, nudging her with it's beak. Clearly it wants her to say something...and Rei gives the bird an exasperated look.]

Oh alright...[She waves it off before giving the camera a smile. It's a little forced, like she's uncomfortable, but all the same she addresses the camera.]

Hello there. This is Phobos and my name is Rei. It's nice to speak to all of you. I'm likely going to be leaving Union for the day, so I thought I'd make sure my Warp Band was fully functional. I assume it is, so I think I'll be going, but feel free to contact me if there's something you have to say. I just wanted to introduce myself.

[An odd pause...and she nods, seemingly satisfied with just that. She's not terribly keen on using this video device, but it is an expected thing, so she'll make the attempt. All the same, off the feed goes now!]

Action

[And true to her word, Rei exits Union's gates that afternoon. A quiver and bow slung over her shoulder, with Phobos the Murkrow and Deimos the Ralts at her side, she heads off towards the forest. Something about today had just seemed rather auspicious, and the night before she'd received a vision in the flames, a premonition that she needed to be leaving Union today. She hadn't gotten much more than that, but it was clear that today was a day of destiny! And that meant getting out like she'd been secretly planning to do for months and months. Grandpapa had supported it for the most part, though his condition was, of course, the Warp Band so she'd obliged him.

Wherever she does, she's moving with a purpose, keeping her eyes peeled for things that might or might not change her life forever. Certainly the land outside was lovely enough to be worth the trip anyway. And if that was all the hunch she'd gotten meant, well...she could deal with that. It wasn't like every single vision had to lead to something astounding, after all.]

The pins lance out, aimed at Deimos alright, but Phobos intercepts them, the flying type accepting the minor injuries with no difficulty thanks to it's type advantage. Screeching in anger, though, it flaps it's wings and heads beak first for the Beedrill.

"Good!" Rei calls out as the blinded aggressor is struck by the Murkrow's peck attack. "Should we run?"

[Beedrill recoils, and its flying seems a bit more unstable. Why...you! It'll show you by getting its buddies!!

Michiru glances at Rei and nods.] Go.

[let's make sure it won't immediately follow, however.

Eyes front.

Eevee turns around, still scared but holding onto her Trainer's presence. Though she might have her eyes closed. Swift.

...At least it's an attack that never misses.

Michiru scoops up her Eevee even as Beedrill wastes time trying to avoid the attack, and starts running headlong down the trail.]

[Ralts continues to concentrate it's attack, focusing more psychic energy for a second Confusion, while Murkrow latches on with it's clawed feet and just keeps pecking away at the bigger Pokemon. It's angry too, after all! Those pins were annoying!

When the Swift attack strikes the Beedrill, it's defense finally crumbles and it goes crashing to the ground. Phobos crows jubilantly as it swoops clear of the downed bug-type, fluttering back towards Rei.]

Right! Good job!

[Unfortunately for them? Another Beedrill buzzes into the clearing...aiming it's stinger at the party and shooting out a Pin Missile!

This one though? Is aimed at the weakest link it sees: Michiru's Eevee!]

[Michiru skids to a halt when the second Beedrill shows up aaaand nope, Eevee's done. She's trembling and trying to bury herself into Michiru's arms, even if the little Togepi is sort of in the way.

Eyes front.

Whining, Eevee glances up only to feel a Psychic aura around her Trainer. Keeping her Pokemon out of the way, Michiru lets herself get hit with the Pin Missile, and then slaps the Beedrill backwards with a light psychic attack.

That second Beedrill...might be Confused, by the way it's flying straight into the nearest tree.]

[Initially, Rei is worried when she sees Michiru take some of the needles, but that fades into surprise when the Beedrill goes flying backwards. Enlightened? And tough, too.]

Stay back, Phobos! I'll finish this.

[Knowing what she has in mind, the Murkrow squawks out a 'Krow!' and lands beside Deimos. With her allies out of the way Rei snaps her fingers, conjuring up a fireball about the size of a fig that goes sailing towards the Beedrill. There's a rush of flame, a popping sound, and the bug-type drops to the ground, knocked out.]

[Rei gets a smile. Drawn to Fire types indeed.] Let's go.

[time to really hightail it, before the rest of the hive shows up.

Better keep up. Michiru has no intention of fighting off an entire swarm of Beedrill.]

[She nods once and turns to follow, reaching down to scoop up the slower moving Deimos in her arms.

She's not the fastest, but she isn't nonathletic at least, so keeping up shouldn't be too hard...]

I...guess we...wandered into their territory.

[Michiru is used to running after a certain racer, but once she hits a pace Rei can follow, she'll keep to it.]

Most will let you go if you back away. [she finally starts slowing down] But Beedrill are testier than others.

[she's walking now, and then finally coming to a halt, the better to listen for noises of pursuit.]

[Rei slows herself, and when they finally do stop, she'll set down Deimos. She's not out of breath or anything, but she's definitely not a sprinter.]

So I gathered. Will they chase us?

[she takes a moment before she responds, still listening for clues. Her Eevee's ears swivel about, clearly helping.]

They're not the best trackers, but - [Rei gets a smile] - at least we've made better time than expected.

[another moment of blessed, buzz-free silence, and then Michiru continues to lead them towards the Scorched Forest.

To her Eevee:] I told you I wouldn't let you get hurt.

Veeee... [and the little Eevee is burrowing into Michiru's arms. Togepi happily pats Eevee's side. Whee! That was exciting!]

[Rei listens as well, taking a deep breath as she calms herself down, letting the adrenaline fade. Her immediate concerns of being followed allayed, her next thought is to both Phobos and Michiru. She holds out a hand while they walk, and obediently the Murkrow lands on it, a trick she'd asked her companion to learn ages ago.

A casual inspection reveals what she'd thought, the pins hadn't really done much to the Flying type other than irritate it a bit. She gently plucks at one, removing it.]

Are you hurt at all, Michiru-san?

[she glances at her shoulder. Ah, right. In the adrenaline rush, she'd forgotten.]

Not particularly. [looks like the pins didn't get too deep, but Michiru barely noticed it anyway. Eevee glances at her shoulder too, shivers, and then hops down to the ground.

Once Rei is done with Phobos, she'll hold out the Togepi to the other girl.]

Can you hold Minuet for a moment?

[Rei obediently takes the little egg-baby, holding it carefully...but curiously tracing a finger along the shell as she watches Michiru.]

Do you need some help getting the pins out?

[She's not even sure if they'd gone in deep enough to matter, but that sort of thing could be difficult.

And while all this is going on, Deimos shuffles over to Martele, attempting to offer a comforting hand of her own. Angry Eevee or not, everyone could be scared.]

Ralll?

[the eggbaby giggles, waving her little arms at Rei. That tickles!]

Thank you, but I think I've got it.

[she reaches over, plucking out a barb. She takes a moment to examine it, and then she pulls out the rest. Michiru doesn't look particularly worried, even as she takes a moment to examine the skin underneath her sleeve.

Eevee looks up at Deimos, ears twitching a bit.] V-vee!

[of course she's alright! Sh-she's really tough and stuff!!

...yeah, no. Eevee just looks miserable and ready to find some blankets to crawl into.]

Alright then.

[Rei turns her attention more towards Togepi rather than Michiru, not wanting to interrupt or be a bother. After all, she doesn't want to blather on and potentially distract her.]

Mmm, aren't you a cute one...

[And while she does that, Deimos gives Eevee another pat, running stubby not-quite-hands along her back to check for possible injuries. It's okay, really.]

Toge priii! [the baby gives Rei a sunny smile, arms and feet wiggling excitedly! She's a pretty happy baby to care for, despite her tendency to waddle right off tables and other high surfaces.

And Michiru is brushing off the rest of the spikes. Looks like she's ready to move.] It used to take her a while to warm up to new humans, but I'm glad to see that she likes you.

[Eevee...won't protest anymore and will lean in just a bit into Deimos. And might mutter a quiet apology for before.]

[Rei hands back the little happy egg, smiling softly at it. It's extremely cute, even if it's a little odd holding an egg with legs. Some Pokemon, to Rei's way of thinking, look just a little bit odd.]

Well I'm glad. She's certainly friendly enough. And I can't imagine she'd be too much trouble.

[Ralts will just hug Eevee then, a gesture of forgiveness.]

Ral...

[and Michiru will take back the baby with a murmur of thanks. Togepi fusses a bit because she wanted to examine Rei's hair, but she stops as soon as she gets to latch onto Michiru's shirt. It's Mommy!]

Only if you keep an eye on her at all times. She's a bit too active for her own good, sometimes.

[she glances at Eevee and Deimos. That's...unexpected. But welcomed! Maybe Eevee can finally make a friend.]

Come along, Martelé.

[Eevee gives Deimos a quick nuzzle, and well, might carefully trot next to the Ralts for this leg of the trip.]

Ahhh...

[Rei gets it, remembering how troublesome Phobos could be as a younger Murkrow. She's more than happy to head along though, and seems to be watching Ralts and Eevee a bit more.

Deimos absolutely doesn't mind, and periodically offers reassuring back scratches whenever a bug Pokemon happens across their path. Boy, there sure are a lot of Caterpies today...]

So is it much farther? Or did that little interlude take us farther away?

[Eevee unconsciously shuffles closer to Deimos whenever a frightful(ly slow and oblivious) Caterpie crosses their path. It's maybe a little less scary with pets. Maybe.]

It shouldn't be far now. In fact...

[the next bend in the path brings them within sight of the Scorched Forest. The vegetation definitely doesn't seem to be growing back, and blackened tree trunks are studded here and there in the ground.]

Rei's eyes flicker with interest as the destination comes into view. An immediate sense of deja vu flashes through the back of her mind and she stops in her tracks for a brief moment. Shaking her head, she takes a long breath and nods.

"Yes, I think this is definitely a place worth investigating."

Of course, she seems to have forgotten she is not alone...

[Rei is getting a curious look from Michiru]

What are you looking for?

"Ah..I...I'm looking for a connection. Every so often I get feelings that I've been somewhere, or that I need to be doing something. And today, coming here was one of those feelings. So...I'm not exactly sure what I am looking for, just that I will know when I find it," the dark haired girl answers, smiling a little shyly. She doesn't explain that very much, but she has a good feeling about Michiru.

[she taps her chin thoughtfully, still looking at Rei. Togepi glances up and then tries to imitate Mom's pose.]

I think I know what you're talking about. [but do you get dreams of the apocalypse too?

On the other hand, Eevee's only concern is that there are probably way fewer Bugs here. Yay!]

Not yet...and she hopes that she never will.

"You do?" Rei asks, a hint of hopefulness in her voice. Someone who wouldn't think she's a weirdo would be nice...
