Spring Fling

For those who fear the encroaching flowers herald events of a slightly more urgent nature, perhaps it isn't really paranoia so much as sensibility.

Two days after they first appear, every single flower in Union blooms overnight. The sight is incredible - the entire city is blanketed in rainbow waves of color, and the scent of the flowers themselves is quite fragrant. The strange pink blossoms are particularly attractive.

For many of the residents of Union, however, the flowers may not be the first thing on their minds as things go a bit chaotic.

1. Enlightened with a Bug, Fairy, or Grass typing will become subject to extreme emotion swings. Primarily, the emotions will be positive, like overwhelming ecstasy, a sensation of giddiness, and a desire to spread cheer amongst their friends. These Enlightened may also suffer from confusion, an excessive amount of energy, and general loopiness. When not in sunlight, they'll swing towards the negative end of the emotional spectrum.

2. Bug, Grass, and Fairy type Pokémon have taken it upon themselves to settle into this new paradise, with the Bug types descending in swarms from above, and the Grass and Fairy types wandering in through the gates whenever the guards aren't looking. Though not violent, they'll be generally insensitive to the trouble they cause for the humans and will react negatively to anyone or anything harming the flowers.

3. Other strange Pokémon have also wandered into Union and while most appreciate the gentle sunlight, a few of the more mischievous have decided that the city could use some more variety. Each individual Castform may alter the weather between sun, rain, and hail within a certain area of the city ranging about two blocks. If Castform is creating Rain or Hail, Fairy, Bug, and Grass Enlightened will respond in a negative manner.

4. Allergies will be more fun to deal with than ever.

5. Finally, the following event Pokémon will be temporarily available to be bonded with as an extra bonus for this week. Please respond in the Map and Wild Pokemon post as per the usual to claim these. The level range is 5-8.

This event will end on April 13th. You may use this post as an IC mingle or make your own entries as you wish. If your character is a Fairy/Bug/Grass Enlightened and you prefer not to play the effects, you may opt-out.

[As Melaka and company go about their business, they will eventually hear a strangely alluring melody drifting along the wind. It seems to be coming from down a nearby alleyway.]

[ Melody? That sounds neat! It's actually Shiram who notices it first, and starts to walk off down towards the Alley - which draws the attention of the two other pokemon and, finally, Melaka. The curious charmander is the first down the alley, looking for the source of the sound. But the others follow after from a ways back. ]

[The dulcet tones warble with an odd timbre as they approach and round the alleyway... there's something rather melancholy about this song.

As they enter, they will come across a potentially alarming sight - people and Pokemon slumped against the wall, apparently listening to the melody with blissful expressions on their faces. But they won't have much time to respond to this as a strange inertia begins to overtake them.]

[ Melaka is coming up on this a bit late. Oops. But Shiram is there first! And he's not sure he sees what's going on with all these people. So he reaches out with a claw to poke at one of the people there ]

[The person will exhale lightly and slide even further down the wall.

Shiram is quite liable to begin to feel the urge to lean against a wall himself. At least, his ability to stand upright is beginning to seem questionable.

Down the alleyway, the singing continues.]

[ You know he does want to rest. He is an impressionable and somwhat dense baby, so ... Yes, this wall looks nice. He ends up curling up against it and nod off. Which is why, when Melaka and the others catch up, Queenie at least is wondering what's up with her friend. Melaka is also feeling it but... ]

Hey, Willow, watch them.

[ She'll just go on herself ]

[Luckily for Melaka, it is about this time that there is a momentary pause in the song. It hangs in the air for a moment or two, and the drowsiness is still hard to shake off, but...]

Jiggly?

[Something pink and plump a little ways down the alleyway prods at one of the slumbering humans.

Then it begins to rummage through their pockets.]

[ Her pokemon back there probably fell asleep too on top of each other. A for Melaka, she's stumbling a bit but... wow is this thing serious? It's robbing them?

[Out comes the wallet, out comes some coins...

Aha!

It holds up a packet of what looks like some sort of fruit candy triumphantly.

Jigglypuff will leave a daffodil in the pocket and hold on to the candy before moving on to her next victim unknowing trader of wares.]

[ Oh. Well, that's probably natural. Most pokemon wouldn't have a need for money, would they...? ]

[The air can be audibly heard leaking from the deflating balloon in the awkward silence after Melaka speaks up.

Jigglypuff hurriedly begins singing as quickly as it can again. The effect is slightly less hypnotizing than it is desperate, but its song remains effective, nonetheless.]

[ ...

... HEY SHE'S GETTING SLEEPY AGAIN!!

Okay she lunges forward to try to tackle the balloon to stop being put asleep again! That way even if she nods off she can have gotten a hit in! ]

[MELAKA uses TACKLE

There is a slight squeak as Melaka lands on top of the balloon and squishes it. ...Luckily, the skin is quite soft (and rubbery) so neither of the two are terribly injured.]

J-Jiggly!

[Jigglypuff doesn't exactly seem happy, though it's stopped singing, anyway.]

Haha, I did it!

[ Even allowing herself some pride here, she lets out a cheer and raises a fist to the air. Also a smooshed jigglypuff is surprisingly soft ]

[Jigglypuff is less cheerful about this situation and responds by Pounding Melaka in the shins while she cheers.]

[Jigglypuff will indignantly pull the rest of its body out from under Melaka's fat feet and sniff as it begins to (quickly) stalk away. Clearly the fault here was 100% Melaka's and it was just minding its own business when it was suddenly attacked for no reason.]

[ Wow, what a diva. Melaka's still on her belly when she gets up to her knees and - ]

Hey, where are you going, weren't you robbing more people here?

[It has no idea what you are talking about and resents that statement. The sudden expression of fear and the increased running speed are merely testaments to its innocence.]
