Spring Fling

For those who fear the encroaching flowers herald events of a slightly more urgent nature, perhaps it isn't really paranoia so much as sensibility.

Two days after they first appear, every single flower in Union blooms overnight. The sight is incredible - the entire city is blanketed in rainbow waves of color, and the scent of the flowers themselves is quite fragrant. The strange pink blossoms are particularly attractive.

For many of the residents of Union, however, the flowers may not be the first thing on their minds as things go a bit chaotic.

1. Enlightened with a Bug, Fairy, or Grass typing will become subject to extreme emotion swings. Primarily, the emotions will be positive, like overwhelming ecstasy, a sensation of giddiness, and a desire to spread cheer amongst their friends. These Enlightened may also suffer from confusion, an excessive amount of energy, and general loopiness. When not in sunlight, they'll swing towards the negative end of the emotional spectrum.

2. Bug, Grass, and Fairy type Pokémon have taken it upon themselves to settle into this new paradise, with the Bug types descending in swarms from above, and the Grass and Fairy types wandering in through the gates whenever the guards aren't looking. Though not violent, they'll be generally insensitive to the trouble they cause for the humans and will react negatively to anyone or anything harming the flowers.

3. Other strange Pokémon have also wandered into Union and while most appreciate the gentle sunlight, a few of the more mischievous have decided that the city could use some more variety. Each individual Castform may alter the weather between sun, rain, and hail within a certain area of the city ranging about two blocks. If Castform is creating Rain or Hail, Fairy, Bug, and Grass Enlightened will respond in a negative manner.

4. Allergies will be more fun to deal with than ever.

5. Finally, the following event Pokémon will be temporarily available to be bonded with as an extra bonus for this week. Please respond in the Map and Wild Pokemon post as per the usual to claim these. The level range is 5-8.

This event will end on April 13th. You may use this post as an IC mingle or make your own entries as you wish. If your character is a Fairy/Bug/Grass Enlightened and you prefer not to play the effects, you may opt-out.

[ For all her over reactions and spikes in excitement, a truly worried Usagi was a sight to see. She's without any of her pokemon at the moment. They had been acting strange when she had gone to bed the night before, and now that they were missing from her room with her window having been pried open. ]

Pinky?! Turnip?! Where are you guys?!

[ Union City was large, but, she'd search every nook and cranny until she had her partners back. ]

[A mighty sneeze announces the presence of one Rikka Hishikawa. Going out to investigate the strange plant growth has resulted in what were once mild allergies flaring up quite significantly. She has a headache. If the plants are having any effect on her, they can't seem to pierce the sheer magnitude of her misery at the moment.

The older girl calling out for her partners catches her attention, and she approaches, handkerchief in hand.]

...Usagi? [And her voice is more than a little nasally.]

[ If it weren't for the fact that Usagi had to keep her ears open for the familiar 'Fa' or 'Dish' from
her pokemon, she might have completely missed hearing Rikka's congested voice calling out to her.

So, when she does hear her name, She stops in her tracks and looks around until her gaze finally falls on Rikka. ]

Rikka?

[ Oh good, it's kouhai-chan. Usagi jogs on over and is about to ask about her pokemon, but then sees the state that Rikka is in. ]

.... are you okay? You look terrible.

[wisdomslight]

[Rikka wheels around, and while she looks a bit groggy it's really just the allergies. Familiarity flashes on her face, and she just tilts her head as the older girl approaches.]

Allergies. [A sniffle.] I feel terrible, and if this headache doesn't go away, I'm gonna...

[She just groans then, shakes her head, and glances back at the plants.] I wanted to take a look at these things, regardless...

Are you even going to remember most of this stuff if you're sick? I mean, I know I sure as heck wouldn't even bother trying to figure out something if I felt terrible.

[ Although, to be fair, Usagi hates studying period. She wouldn't even bother unless it were a dire circumstance... ]

You might end up with worse allergies if you stay out here for too long...

[She sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. And sniffles.] It's not... much better inside, to be honest. I sort of need to feel like I'm doing something, however - if I'm just cooped up inside when there's something weird going on out here...

[ She's sniffling and miserable from all of the allergies, but she can't ignore someone in the state Usagi is in. ]

Hey, s'everything okay?

[ She looks ... spacey, this one. Allergies are the worst. ]

[ Man, Usagi didn't realize just how bad of allergies some people had with all these flowers. ]

No, I can't seem to find my pokemon. They've been acting weird since all the flowers started blooming in the city and when I woke up, they were gone!

[ She's absolutely worried out of her mind... if anything happened to her pokemon... ]

Have you seen a little Cleffa, probably running around with a small Oddish?

[ourlegends]

[ Oh, crappit, no wonder she looked so worried ... she shakes her head to her question. ]

I haven't, but I'll help you look!

[ And then she sneezed. Ugh. She's taking out her handkerchief again and blowing her nose ... she's still determined to help her look for her Pokemon even despite the allergies. ]

Are you sure? You don't look so good....

[ Not that Usagi didn't appreciate the help. Far from it! But, there was no way she was going to let someone who didn't feel well risk getting even sicker for her sake. ]

It's just allergies, this always happens when the pollen count gets high ... I'm just going to feel like crap regardless of what I do today.

[ She tried to smile in reassurance. ]

No worries, I can still help!

[ Sadly there doesn't seem to be any Pinkys or Turnips nearby. But what is nearby is some pink Pokemon seemingly face planting into the ground. ]

[ Usagi's worry is almost through the roof because she can't find Pinky or Turnip... but, if there's anything she can't ignore, it's a pokemon that looks like something is wrong...

So, for now, she just jogs on over to the pink pokemon and kneels down. ]

Are you ok? Here, let me help you up. [ She's just going to reachh down and prop the pokemon righty side up instead of making out with the pavement. ] Take it from me, the sidewalk isn't a great place to sleep.

[ Jigglypuff was in fact sleeping when Usagi picked it up from the ground and situated it the right way. Hearing her voice it stirs in its slumber before suddenly jumping awake. ]

JIGGLY!

[ It spins around in a circle before realizing that Usagi is in fact there and stares at her for a moment. ]

Puuuffff???

Hello!

[ Usagi gives the Jigglypuff a very friendly smile as well as a polite wave. ]

Did you enjoy your nap?

[ The Jigglypuff twirls in its place. ]

Puff!

[ yes! It was very comfortable! ]

That's good.

[ Well, now that she was sure the Jogglypuff was okay, Usagi's features go back to being worried as she glances around. ]

By chance, you haven't seen a little Cleffa running around with an Oddish, have you?

[ Jigglypuff frowns a little before shaking its... body? No, it hasn't seen anything of the sort it was busy sleeping.

But if you need any help it needs to wake up a bit more! before it... flops over and goes to sleep again. ]

I see..

[ Usagi just sighs, giving the Jigglypuff a small worried smile before reaching up to pat the Jigglypuff on its head, right above the tuft of hair on its head. ] I guess I can't be too upset. I wouldn't be able to tell if anything was going on while I'm sleeping.

Hey, would you like to come with me? I could use some help finding them, and two sets of eyes are better than none.

[ The Jigglypuff puffs up confidently. Don't worry! Nothing is going to stand in its way from helping you look for them.

And to prove that it puffs up enough so that it's a little bit in the air. But just a little bit before it can't stay puffed up anymore and floats back down to the ground. Well ... still can be helpful right? ]

Awww! You're just so cute!

[ And Usagi just can't help herself. She feels the urge to just lean down and scoop up the Jigglypuff... so she does just that and gives it a big hug before just opting to carry it around. ]

Alright, then let's get searching!

[ Jigglypuff responds determinedly and didn't seem to mind having been picked up to be carried. Sounds a lot better than just walking around after waking up from a snooze!

So let's get a-searching! And while they are the Jigglypuff decides to completely bond with Usagi so congrats! You now have a Level 6 to accompany you forever! ]
