Slash 1: Starting Out [Video]

[Simon stares down the camera in his usual intimidating fashion, Taka the Taillow on his right shoulder and Tsurugi the Honedge floating to his left.]

It has been a long while since I have been able to freely draw my blade... and now that I can, I find I lack direction. While I feel that it might be best to find a forest clearing to train in at first, I am wondering where the rest of you trained when you first started out. It seems that the Old City and the Scorched Forest might be viable alternatives to simply training directly outside of Union, but I would like some confirmation.

Furthermore, what Pokemon would you recommend I bond with? As you can see, I have a Honedge and a Taillow on my side. [He gives Take a few scritches under his beak.] I would feel a bit more comfortable with traveling if I had a few more partners to work with. While I do trust that my blade is sturdy... it might still be a bit rusty.

Well, I started recently and pretty much just went out into the forest. I've met a few friendly Pokémon out there, and with a Flying-type you should be pretty safe until you've got some practice in. Right, Kiki?

Hm. Yes, that sounds about right. I figured that the forest would be a good place to start out.

[Why is the Pidove hiding from him? The fact that he has a bird of his own should indicate his stance on them! ...Somehow.]

What about acquiring Pokemon? Do you have any recommendations for which ones I should search out?

One of the first Pokémon I bonded was a Scyther from the north part of the forest. He's very strong and honorable.

So they're in the northern part of the forest, hm? I hope that other Scyther possess a similar temperament to yours.

[He has pretty much made up his mind to get one as soon as he can.]

I couldn't guess since they're so rare, but I doubt Musashi's that out of the ordinary.

Hmm. I can't help you with sword practice, but as for pokémon bonding, what are you looking for? There's a lot of different types. Did you want ones like your honedge and taillow?

Well, I do have a fondness for birds... but I believe it would be beneficial for me to diversify my team a bit.

Well! You could take a look around the forest. You might have a few people suggest it to you, really. But there's plenty of different types of pokémon there. Some bird-types too, if you do find them easier to get along with. There's murkrow in the southern parts of the forest, and then fletchling around the Scorched Forest. They're both birds, but they have other type abilities along with them.

[ Pause. ] You could just try seeing who you might get along with out there...but if you're worried about maybe not having time to bond with too many pokémon... [ Thinking, she looks up for a second. ] Have you ever heard of scyther?

Murkrow and Fletchling, hm? I suppose those two are on my list of Pokemon to bond with eventually. [He's going to get a veritable aviary eventually.]

Scyther? Yes, I have heard of it. That one is on my list as well, though I hear they're rather hard to find.

A scyther would take some time to find unless you get lucky, but I think you might find one who'll be interested in you. [ She smiles. ] They have bladed arms, and you use a blade... it's a simple comparison, but it could be a really good one.
