[the warp band video is as grainy and black and white as always. When it comes on, it's pointed toward the kitchen table. Laid out on the table are feathers. Three of them are about three feet long, and another four are between a foot and six inches. Even without color, it's possible to tell that these aren't just any ordinary feathers. These feathers seem to be made of gleaming metal, the individual barbs at the base coalescing into solid steel just a few inches higher.

Then, Eren speaks]

Hey. I'm finally done molting, so I have a new crop of feathers to sell or trade. Molting sucks. But at least I can make some money off of it. I used two of them to make new swords for myself, and then payment for the blacksmith, and then a few weren't really high enough quality to be used…

uh. Oh! If you don't know, Skarmory feathers make some of the best swords ever. They're light and just flexible enough to not break, and they hold an edge like no one's business. [Eren turns the warp band to himself, and he draws one of his swords. It only vaguely resembles the feathers on the table] You just have to take them to one of the blacksmiths in town and you can get whatever kind of hilt you want on it. The smaller feathers make good knives and stuff.

Anyway, prices are negotiable, but don't expect to get these cheap. They're worth a lot more than you'd think, but I'd figure I'd try and sell them over the warp bands first. I know there's lots of Guards and Rangers and [he makes a small gagging noise] Swords check the warp network a lot. [pause] Even if you don't need a blade, they make good gifts.

Uh. Yeah. Sure. [this guy's gotta be a noble, and probably a sword, since he's not questioning the price] They're $700 each. [money is money, and his apartment needs repairs.]

[He types out the Fabre mansion's address.]

Here, bill the house here, they'll send the money.

Seems kind of cheap for how fancy you made them sound though.

[oh. Yep. That address is deep in "stupid bullshit noble land". Eren can't keep the sneer off his face]

Uh. I don't really know how to do that. Like. Sending a bill. Can't you just give me cash?

[eyeroll] It might be chump change for you, but for me, it's the repairs I need to my apartment and food for my Tyrantrum.

I guess so, but it's a pain. I'll tell Ramdas and get the cash.

[He shrugs, not noticing Eren's sneer at all. He's too self absorbed.]

I'll come and get it too.

[stahlflugel]

That works better for me. I'll wrap it up so you can carry it.

[Even though Eren feels like he wouldn't give a damn if this guy cut his hand on one of his feathers... But at the same time, he's a little embarrassed. His apartment isn't the crappiest part of town, but it's close]

[He may or may not skip out on Swords duty for this. Luke takes Mieu as usual, dressed up in his pretty green sweater and yellow bow tie. His Eevee always looks snazzy, even if Luke pretends to not like him at all. He just figures his dumb Pokemon would like the habitat. Halfway there, he realizes he doesn't remember what Eren looks like. He figures he'll recognize some guy with a big sharp feather thought.]

[So Eren will find Luke wandering around nearby the tower with an Eevee running around his ankles sniffing at grass and stuff while the redhead leans back with his arms behind his head. He's already getting bored...]

[Savior, Luke, it's been maybe fifteen minutes. Eren thinks he could find someone with hair that ridiculous pretty easily enough.

But wow, in color, it's even more ridiculous. That is the brightest ass hair he's ever seen. He approaches the guy, tucking the sword-feather (wrapped in cloth and bound with twine) under one arm]

You the guy who wants the feather?

[tracedarte]

[Hey, his hair is awesome. And it's natural too! Except... for those dyed tips. Wow, Luke. That's pretty.... lame.]

Yeah, totally. Lemme see it.

[He looks at Eren weirdly a minute when he comes over. Sure, he figured he was a shifter from you know.... being able to molt and all. But it's always strange to him to see one up close. Especially when they had weird bird legs.]

[stahlflugel]

[very lame. But at least he's more well-kept than raggamuffin Eren.

And hey, don't stare at his weird bird legs. Now that it's not winter, he doesn't have to wear his boots/spats, so his shiny scales gleam in the sunlight. Also those are big claws. Really big claws.

He carefully unwraps the top of the feather to show it to the guy. It's extremely light, and very flexible and wobbly. Not good for a sword] It's really flexible like this, but once its been smithed, it won't be so wiggly. It'll be like this.

[Eren pulls a sword from the sheathe on his hip, holding it up. It has the general shape of a feather and the same brassy silver and green colors, but the smithing has totally fused the barbs and it's much stiffer]

You can make the hilt and guard as fancy as you want. I just needed it to be functional. I'm sure a bigshot like you could get gems and gold or... whatever.

Oh wow cool!

[Luke looks genuinely impressed then, a smile bursting onto his face. He really likes stuff like this, even if it's weird that he's getting it from a ...nother person who shed it. Wow, that is weird. Still, he's obviously psyched about it, it's kind of cute when he can 180 from his usual bratty self.]

I'll make it really awesome looking, don't worry.

[Like Eren cares, but Luke figures he'd want something like this to look good when it's done too.]

Gold wouldn't match the silver though, I'll think of something. But I'll definitely get our family crest on it.

[Well, him being excited is better than him being bratty. It's enough to make Eren loosen up, ever so slightly. He doesn't look like he wants to strangle the guy anymore, at any rate. That's an improvement. Eren sheathes his sword]

It's not just going to sit around and look pretty, right? I mean. I don't care. [he cares a little, but he needs the money] I guess it doesn't matter. [he wraps the feather back up]

[tracedarte]

Of course not! I'll use it for training, and Swords duty and stuff.

[He digs in his pockets a moment, before pulling out a wad of bills. Ramdas wasn't too happy about giving Luke another portion of his monthly allowance so early, but it was easy enough to bully the poor butler. He counts out 10 bills and hands them over. He knows Eren said $700, but he figures it's worth more than that.]

Here. I'll take good care of it.

[stahlflugel]

["Swords duty". Eren wants to scoff. He wants to so bad. What kind of duties? Strutting around, looking important? Spitting on poor people? Letting white collar criminals off if they pay enough?

No Eren, no. He keeps his expression neutral. "You need the money. You need to get that leaky plumbing fixed. You need a new floor in the kitchen. Napoleon and the others need food." There was too much at stake to risk it all on his personal feelings. And then;]

B-but... this is too much! Are you sure?

[tracedarte]

I thought it was pretty cheap though.

It's a cool feather sword, $1000 isn't that much at all.

[He doesn't even sound condescending for once.]

[stahlflugel]

Well... If you say so.

[Savior, his guy must be LOADED if $1000 is "nothing". Eren takes the cash and pockets it, then hands over the feather. It's a good thing you keep that condescension out of your voice, Luke, because you might have earned a kick in the shins. But instead he just kind of looks at Luke] Uh... thanks. I guess.

No problem.

[He smiles~ wow. Luke must be in a really good mood, but it could also be Eren's Ranger jacket or something. He's super envious of those guys.]

What blacksmith do you go to for these anyway?

[stahlflugel]

[His ranger jacket is pretty darn awesome. It's his prized possession]

Oh uh. I get work done at Johansen's over in the industrial district. I think he does the best work in town, but I might be biased.

Will you show me?

[stahlflugel]

[really. the guy wants him to show him? Eren rolls his eyes a little. the guy DID give him extra cash, and it's more or less on his way home...]

... Yeah, sure. Fine. Follow me.

[and off he goes, walking briskly on his weird birdfeet]

I don't know where anything is downtown, so...

[He takes hold of the feather, careful for once, as he follows him.]

Were you always a shifter? Like, since you were little?

[stahlflugel]

I live downtown.

[Eren doesn't turn around and he really doesn't feel like answering invasive questions, so he answers as tersely as possible]

No. It's a fairly recent development.

[tracedarte]

Oh, so it just happened?

[He grins then. This guy is his age, probably, at least it looks like it! There's still hope.]

It didn't hurt or anything did it? What kind did you say you were... Scary-my or something...?

[stahlflugel]

Recently, yes. About a year or so ago.

[he sneers a bit]

It hurt the first time. Now it just sort of pinches. And Skarmory. It's a flying and steel type.

And you're my age, right? I'm seventeen.

It pinches, huh... well that's not so bad... I don't know, any kind of Enlighted ability would be cool...

[stahlflugel]

I just turned 17 in March, yeah.

[he pauses, quirking a brow back at Luke]

You're not enlightened? So... what, do you dye your hair that crazy color then?
