Dungeon Crawling
Log Deputy: Void
Participating Characters: Jade Curtiss, Chester Barklight, Cress Albane
Plot Description: Going deep down into the depths of the Old City to search for powerful Pokemon
Warnings/Notes: Possible violence?
[There have always been rumours floating around that tell of highly dangerous Pokemon lurking in the Old City, just waiting to ambush unsuspecting Delvers. Someone somewhere decided it was high time to investigate, which is why Jade finds himself down in his least favourite place in the world, along with a possibly-suicidal Ranger and his best friend, who didn't even happen to be a Ranger.
It's a rather annoying situation, to put it mildly.
It takes a lot of walking (and a few circuitous paths; Jade doesn't want them venturing anywhere near his old laboratories) before they finally venture deep enough into the Old City that they're in an area all but unexplored by people from the Union. Jade raises his lamp high, trying to take stock of their surroundings.]
I'm sure there's no need to tell the two of you to be cautious.

[Uncaring of his companion's fear, Jade quickly issues orders.]
Focus on the enemy. Use Sand Tomb.
[Continuing to slow it down and reduce its agility seems like the safest bet.]

[Something about this would be painfully familiar if this were canon. Chester groans, simultaneously lifting Cress up and pushing him off of himself at the same time. His head's spinning a little, but arrows wouldn't work here anyway with the Muk being... sludge and all. So he just tries to shake it off. Toryuu is a little bit more composed than his human friend, seeing the Sandshrew using Sand Tomb again and hurrying over to help, doubling the power behind it this time.]

All the while Cress's Charmeleon, Flamberge, tires her best at assisting. Waiting for the steal-type to move out of her range before bursting a Dragon Rage at the glop.]
Dammit! [Out of all the moves Enlightened have learned Cress hasn't learned much, however, recently he's managed something of a small Electro Ball. Getting right back up no matter how many times he's knocked down and building one up in his palm. Electricity isn't effective against ground type attack, so this should work -- he should be able to fire it at the base of the Sand Tome without hindering it's power but apply an electric shock to the attack.] Here goes nothing!
[Spot on, getting as closely as he could without getting sucked in. Now somewhat of a raging thunderstorm engulfs itself inside the Sand Tome. It hits the ground with a load BOOM!]

It's kind of disgusting.

Sandshrew, keep using Ground type attacks. Work with Toryuu.
[Cooperation seems to be the key here, judging by how effective that last attack is. But with the amount of Muk all over the place, they can't afford to concentrate on only one target at a time, which is why Jade aims for another Muk, lashing out with more Psychic energy, more focused on doing damage this time than inflicting any status effects.]

[Luckily, Chester manages to keep any... muck out of his mouth and eyes. They have antidotes, but it'd still be a bad idea to get poisoned down here. Toryuu keeps up with the sand, staying close to Sandshrew and doing his best to keep the Muk slowed down now that the giant ball has burst. Chest gets his bow off his shoulder and starts to fit the tip of an arrow with a capsule from his Ranger kit.]
Everyone, hold your breath!
[Firing the arrow into the biggest cluster of Muk, the capsule pops at the impact... releasing a strong Sleeping Power that Chester hopes will give them enough time to escape, or at least a better chance at total victory.]

Collecting Gungnir, the honedge, who was still rather stubborn when it came to retreating. It wasn't like Cress could grab his hilt, but carrying him was also out of the question.. Flamberge couldn't stick close to the ground types because of her weakness but she stayed with the humans. Keeping the area around everyone bright...] You stubborn-- would you cut it! Come on, Gungnir....
[Holding the handkerchief his mother gave him this morning against his face, gathering up his stupid sword and joining the others.]

[Besides, their objective isn't to kill, merely to investigate. Pursuing the Muk will slow them down and create more unnecessary danger besides.]
[He turns to Chester and Cress instead.]
What are your thoughts on the situation?
no subject
[As a Ranger, Chester has seen some shit and gotten into a lot of messes over the years, but Muk and Grimer are always the worst. Savior, it stinks. After a bit of yelling at his best friend, he looks back to Jade.]
We should press onward. I wanna get out of here ASAP.
no subject
[He's still beating himself up over it too, jeez. Just let it pass, Chester... Cress doesn't know what he'd do without his best friend but sometimes he just wants to smack the guy upside the head.]
I agree though, we should keep going. [Getting out one of his mothers packed Pokemon snacked for the tree currently working and don't call it girly to carry treats this time, Chester! Mr. Curtiss's Pokemon seen to like them so...]

[All their surroundings are unfamiliar, but the mansion doesn't fail to catch his interest. It's such a giant structure - even though it's in ruins, it could provide a good shelter for Pokemon.]
[But of course, he isn't about to go dashing off by himself, so he turns to Chester and Cress again.]
I'd like to investigate here.
[His voice cuts through the silence, loud and jarring even though he had spoken at a normal volume. Beside Chester, Sandshrew flinches.]
no subject
Do you think the earthquakes uncovered it? Like the Mausoleum...
[He adjusts his bow a little and moves forward. Shuu'u flutters down to perch on him again, picking at the muk in his hair.]
Sounds good to me.
no subject
... It's big. [Captain obvious over here.] -But I have no arguments. [Giving a nod to Charmeleon as she continued to take the lead for everyone's viewing pleasures.]

[Sandshrew happily continues stuffing her face, but Jade looks concerned as he takes in their surroundings. Although their goal is to discover danger, there's no need to run headlong into it. He slows his pace.]
Chester, can you watch our backs?
[Jade has no desire to be ambushed by another group of Muk again. In the meantime, he quickly summons more Pokemon to add to their crew: Jigglypuff and Duskull.]
no subject
[It's a little odd for him to be so complacent about pecking order, but the ominous feeling was putting him on edge. He keeps an eye on whatever might be behind them. He swallows and grips his bow.]
Everything's fine so far, Cress try to listen for anything... I can't hear anything at all, aren't there any Pokemon in here?
no subject
[He tries to listen for any sounds, anything at all.. worried about his teammates and Pokemon. Flamberge wasn't as strong as Gungnir.. and she was taking the lead -- Cress wouldn't forgive himself if something happened to her, so he's ready to bolt in her direction.
The Charmeleon keeps alert, walking closer and closer to Jade in fear. She tried to stay brave but the darkness and danger of their situation keeps her straying form the very front.]

[Hushed:] Do you hear that?

It sounds big...

[But his smile fades quickly. The sudden quiet doesn't bode well - a surprise attack could be coming. Although he's curious about the rooms - how had they managed to avoid crumbling into ruin? - if an attack is coming, then it's best not to be caught in a confined space.]
[Which leaves going up the staircase, or continuing to search through the ground floor.]
I'd prefer to avoid going into the rooms for now. [As usual, he doesn't explain his reasoning. With a cheery smile entirely inappropriate for the situation, he continues.] I'll let the two of you to decide what our next course of action should be.
@void pidgeotto can totally get hurt or whatever if something's up there!
