[Behold the exhausted but freshly-scrubbed face of one Garrett Hawke, come to introduce himself to the network with a very important question (to him).]

Has anyone heard of a village named Rhododendron? No one at the Medical Center has heard of it, but they suggested I try asking on the network.

It's where I'm from, and I'd like to go back, but I'm not sure where it is from here. So any information at all would be great.

[He hesitates very briefly, then flashes a charming smile.]

[OOC: This guy's hometown is so far off the map no one will have heard of it, and it's also been completely destroyed, but he doesn't know that yet so he's still asking around. Feel free to yank his chain or crush his dreams or just be brutally honest, it's all good! o/]

I take it you've lived here your whole life?

[Just like everyone else he's met so far...]

I have. Do you need help finding your way?

[He did come here to help, after all.]

[What a nice guy!]

I might. Maybe not right away, though. I don't want to wake Sergeant up until he's had some rest.

[Well, then!]

Maybe you could tell me more about what happened, then.

[He shrugs]

My family lives outside the village. We have a farm, where we grow food and raise Mareep. I've been mostly in charge of watching the flock since I was about twelve. Pebbles - our Herdier - and I were camping out in the fields with the Mareep when a storm came out of nowhere. It was like nothing I've ever experienced before; it picked us both right up, and knocked me out cold when it dropped me.

This little guy woke me up by washing my face. I wasn't injured, somehow. But I had no idea where I was, and I couldn't find Pebbles or any of the flock anywhere. Sergeant couldn't find his pack, either, so we decide to travel together to look.

[He looks down fondly at the Houndour in his lap]

[Anders is clearly interested, watching as Hawke talks and trying to see it in his head. It's hard; he's never gone far outside the city gates before, and only once or twice.

One part catches his notice, though:] A storm managed to pick you up?

[You're a pretty big guy, Garrett.]

[Wow, Anders, what are you implying? Gosh!!]

I still can't believe it either. I never knew wind could be so strong.

[not implying anything, just surprised!!]

It must be a miracle you lived.

I agree. I just hope my family was as lucky. And Sergeant's.

[He looks down at the sleeping Houndour in his lap with no small amount of guilt as he says this. He definitely had not intended to take Sergeant away from the grasslands and woods they'd been exploring together, and to a big city, of all places. The little pokemon had been astonished and uncertain around Garrett the first time he'd changed back to human form in front of him; he couldn't imagine the pup's reaction to a whole city full of humans.]

[Anders doesn't know what Hawke's expression means, but he frowns, turning a bit more serious.]

I'm sorry. You're lost, far away from your family, and I'm asking all these questions...

[Whoops, Anders, way to be insensitive.]

It's - [Well. It is what it is. He shrugs.] - Don't worry about it. I won't lie and say I wouldn't be curious, too.

[He hesitates.]

I'll make it up to you.

[Wait, what?]

You don't have to.

Are you hungry?

[He's about to say "no" but then his stomach betrays him by rumbling loudly and rudely.

Ugh, body, work with him, here...!]

...Starving.

[No point in trying to say otherwise, really.]

[he's a little amused by that]

I can get the two of you some food before taking you to the Outpost.

[How embarrassing...]
