[ CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE: Five options:

( Of Note: Melaka has no reacted her first evolution. The visible changes acre actually fairly minor - her muscles are tighter and thicker, and her skin is tougher too. She's also got a thick natural leathery fingerless "glove" over her hand. Like how a lot of fighting types have biological "clothing?" same deal )

a) Melaka in Union Park! She's there, walking with Willow and the two babies, generally enjoying herself a little more. It's nice and bright out and... she's looking for Gunther. A little. But mostly it's just a nice walk and a nice picnic. Do you sit with her? Attract the attention to the cute babies? There are options here.

b) Towards Kurain Village! Melaka is en route there with Brownie. Brownie recently evolved and Melaka wanted to re-introduce Jinxie to him. That said, Brownie is a n overly violent idiot, and is trying to pick fights with everyone they can even begin to cross paths with along the way. Try to avoid this conflict, get caught up in it, try to make him more violent? Awkward.

c) Around town all over the place, Melaka is running her errands. This begins at Pokeco, but then quickly devolves into her looking around to see if she can find a better deal at smaller shops. In the course of these errands she is doing some parkour leaps and jumps to get around quicker, and Sneak is floating beside her. In the course of this, you might find Melaka consoling Sneak for the fact that she hasn't evolved and she shouldn't feel too bad for it sometimes people take longer. You also might run into Melaka despairing about her budget...

d) Which leads us to the final push: Melaka scouting out the Verdant Forest with Slugger and Lurks. She's not doing it super officially, but she is trying to map out a route which can allow people to safely travel between Union and the spot where Banzu is making that port. She hopes she can then get an expense pay for doing that, but it's mostly a side-job for now. Will you run into her? Will a swarm of pokemon descend on them and make things weird? Will they run into a randomly strong evolved pokemon? Who knows, you can join in.

e) The bonus round! There is no Melaka here, there is only Gunther. He's out and about and planning to live large in his newfound city life. Places to get drinks? People to impress? Small businesses he can create to get his hands on more candy? Maybe he can discover even more vices? Have adventures with him, either as a trainer or with your own character's pokemon! ]

[Ace is walking in the forest with his newly bonded Shuppet, Doll, after realizing the pokemon had never been outside the mausoleum. He had decided the cute little ghost needed to see more of the outside world, and the Shuppet was even more excited than Ace himself, floating from one tree truck to the other, smelling everything that looked like it could be smelt, and phasing through as many things as possible.

He's calmly walking making sure Doll doesn't wonder too far off, when he notices an interesting pokemon he's never seen before and slowly approaches it, staring at the Donphan's trunk with interest, and the seeing Melaka not that far away when he turns to make sure Doll is still close by. He calls her over, not wanting to step in front of the pokemon that could easily trample him]

Melaka! Hey!

Oh, Ace! [ She turns too. She'd been aware that there was something or someone in the area for a bit, and her smile's relieved to see that it was a friend. Lurks lets out a little sigh of relieve, but Slugger just turns to face the new arrival. For Melaka's past, she waves and makes her way over to the guy ]

[Ace smiles at the pokemon, and then at Melaka]

I didn't noticed you were out here, are you working?

[Doll just floats all over the place, specially around the bigger pokemon, trying to figure out what it was and how come it's so big. He's completely entranced by it]

Sorta. I didn't get orders and I'm not gettin' paid for it yet - but did you hear about that guy Banzu who's planning to make a little port to get to that island? I'm sort of mapping out a route people who aren't trainers will survive.

[To cement this point, she reaches into her pack to pull out a roughly drawn sketch-map she's been periodically updating, holding it out for Ace. Basically, it's a pet project and these two wanted a walk anyway.

Speaking of these two, Slugger tries to follow the movement of Doll. That is, spinning in place. Donphan are not meant to spin that way though, what with being bulky quadrapeds, so it's going slower than him no doubt ]

[Ace takes the map and stares at it, one of his eyebrows raised]

This is pretty good, It's a bit different from the path we took, but it's really good

[Doll laughs and stops going around, floating on top og the Donphan's nose, maybe that way the big pokemon can see him better, but he's not the kind to stay still, he wants to keep exploring! So he's shaking a bit from excitement, looking everywhere]

[Brownie is kind of hard to miss, especially to someone who's used to what he sounds like when he's on a rampage. It's a little different - deeper, more commanding - since his evolution, but Jinxie's pretty observant, so it doesn't take her long to find the source of the commotion.]

...Huh? Hello?

[Just rounding the corner to where they are...]

[ To see...! Brownie trying to punch some ghost pokemon hanging around the neighborhood. Probably some who are family friends of Kurain NPCs. But the point is that he obviously cannot punch them and he is being laughed at. And Mel, for her part, is trying to get him to calm down ]

Hey, you furball, cut it out already!

[The Ghost types around here are pretty mischievous too, so that's probably not helping.]

Melaka! And Brownie! Did you evolve...?

[ "Yes I evolved! It's about time too- rrgh!"

HE's distracted. Much attempt to punch the ghost. Melaka is half ready to sock him out to stop him, but seeing Jinxie she turns to smile at her... friend... with some embarrassment ]

[Mary is playing in Union Park today with her own Pokemon, primarily with "Oddy" who notices Melaka with an Oddish companion of her own in addition to the other Pokemon with her. Once spotted, she starts cheerfully waving her leaves in greeting at the other Pokemon nearby, which gets Mary's attention.]

Huh? Who are you waving at? [...Wait a second, we've seen her before.] Oh! I think that's the lady we met when Ib and I had our battle... [So now she starts waving back cheerfully too.] Hiiii~!

[So, Melaka and friends, how do you feel about suddenly having the attention of a little girl and her Pokemon right now.]

[ Such is the way of the Oddish, to wave without arms. Willow doesn't even notice at first, but then turns at attention at the sight of the other Oddish! The two babies too too, and it is the babies who actually wave back first. ... Well okay, Shiram does. But as for Melaka herself, she says: ]

[First before her eyes widen to notice the Phantump floating there and- ]

Wait, one of them-?

[ Whatever species Sneak is. She's never seen another one. ]

[Hm? The Phantump tilts its head a little at that, and Mary thus points to it.]

Yeah, we met in the forest a few weeks ago! Have you met a Pokemon like this one before?

I have, months ago. Sneak- she's one of the first pokemon I bonded with, and I've never seen another like it 'sides her.

[ Which is perhaps why Melaka is so intent on it - which would make Shiram briefly interested in the ghost. But Willow brings both babies back into line to talk to and preach to the the other oddish about the glorious Moss Rock. Come on ]

[Apollo noticed Melaka some time ago and didn't think much of it; it wasn't that unusual to encounter another Ranger in the wilderness, after all, and Apollo didn't always make his presence known to them when he did. In Melaka's case though, he was a bit confused when he noticed her behavior - moving with purpose but also like someone who wasn't sure of their path, avoiding perfectly serviceable, albeit tight, paths in favor of ones that were wider than she needed for passage, and so on - and after watching her for a while, he decided to speak up.]

What are you doing?

[The voice comes from above her, where the red-haired boy is squatting barefoot on a thick branch.]

[ Huh-- oh, young guy. She's seen him around before both on the bands and around at the Outpost or the like. Not that she knows who he is really, but she at least knows that he's from Union. Which... now is actually a concern as weird as that is to think about. Still, she dismisses that to give a lazy wave up at him ]

I'm trying to work out a route that non-trainers could take without being in danger.

A Route? To where, the Lake Shrine?

No, this guy Banzu's plannin to make a port so people can ride a boat out to that island we discovered, and maybe beyond that. I'm working on a route to get to his planned site.

[Absol happened to be out and about hunting in tall grass, and as soon as her eyes met those of Brownie, thar be fightin' words.]

A Primeape, huh? Interesting... [She grins and motions in a "come on" gesture.]

Wait a tick- [ Melaka tries to chime in when she hears that comment about the Primeape, knowing they must mean Brownie. But unfortunately, that's all the monkey needs. The ape winds up his arm and rushes over towards the girl and try to open with a sock in the face ]

Quick Attack! [She ducks the blow and draws her naginata, slashing in the same smooth movement.]

[ Which cuts the monkey! Not that this deters him - now quite mad, he swings wildly, going into a Rage so that it can build up. He roars in indignant pig-monkey rage even, as Melaka ends up sighing and just waiting for it to subside ]

Fine, but I'm not helpin' you here!

[Did someone say candy? The word candy was invoked somewhere nearby, he's pretty sure.

A small bear can be found in Union with its face - its sticky, gooey face pressed up against a candy shoppe. It's currently focused on a display filled with gumballs of every single color.

If only he were a Ghost-type...]

[ Gunther the Jugglypuff is making his way around and getting a lay of the land and-- oh, a candy store... this is a very valuable asset for him! So he walks on over to tap the little bear on the back of the head to ask what he's doing ]

[The bear turns around and automatically sticks its paw dripping with honey into its mouth to suck.

It was staring at the sweets!

Sometimes when it stands around outside the shop and looks at the people exiting and it makes it eyes really big, they give it some candy! Little girls were best for this.]

[ Hmmm. That's not a bad trick, but only doing that, they're only going to get a little candy. They need to get more candy at the source if they want to get some real sweets. They need to some how get it out of the display. Gunther remarks this, eyeing up both the bear and the candy. He could probably sing the room to sleep, but then they would know it was them... ]
