[Action] Let's Talk to Pokémon!
[Backdated to the 11th.]
[Cecilia talked to Apollo and Lucas about the same thing: needing to talk to Pokémon to find out if they had seen any iron lately. It seems like a good idea to her, though it came from Apollo. But she can do that -- at least with ones that talk. And thus, here she waits, near the indicated place.]
[A huge, ancient oak stands up behind her, and sits on the crest of a hill. It makes it stand out. It's hard to miss. Being short, Cecilia is just dwarfed by it.]
[But, worst of all... she doesn't know Lucas's name.]

I don't think I've got any of the rest of that, but, um... Maybe we can see what we'll find on the way.
[Cake trees could exist. Potentially.]
Oh - I forgot to say. Please let me know if anyone gets hurt. I have healing abilities, so... hopefully we'll be OK.
[Lucas will follow on behind Apollo.]
no subject
Thank you, Lucas. I can't heal, yet, but I can do spells to support us... and Raftina is tough.
[Her Eevee nods. Cecilia starts walking after Apollo, too, and grabs her staff tightly as she does.]
no subject
What kind of support?
[Apollo doesn't look at them as he speaks, nor does he look around. Instead he's listening for Pokémon with both his ears and his Child of the Verdant Forest ability.]
no subject
I've got bandages and medicines, too - I took them from the Medical Center when I left.
I hope nobody minds, but I haven't seen anyone using that cabinet in a few weeks, anyway.
no subject
Long-range spells. I am working on increasing others' abilities, then.
[She smiles and keeps walking, looking around. She can't feel for Pokémon, but she can have a conversation with them; once they find one, she can do her part.]
no subject
Increasing others' abilities should be helpful.
[Wait... a healer and a buffer...]
How good are you two at fighting?
no subject
Um.
[Lucas looks apologetic already.]
I used to live out in the forest, so I know how to avoid trouble...
[He digs around in his pocket and... pulls out a yo-yo.]
I use this - and a stick, usually.
[translation: he isn't]
no subject
[She holds it up.]
Raftina is usually on point for me, though...
no subject
It's good to avoid trouble whenever you can, but sometimes you can't stop it, so knowing how to fight's a good thing, even if you have a Pokémon with you who's willing to fight.
Don't fight unless you have to though. You shouldn't hurt anyone unless it's to defend yourself, to protect someone, or to feed yourself.

[Avey growls its concurrence from Lucas's arms.]
I, um, try to stick with the tofu, but... I understand what you mean.
[It was really terrible fighting something when you could feel its thoughts and emotions running through your own head.]
I guess all of this means you're probably good at fighting then, Apollo.
no subject
[Of course, sometimes they don't get a choice.]
We can support you, Apollo, if you have to. [Raftina makes a soft chirpy noise. Cecilia looks down at her, then back up.] And her, too.
no subject
The soybeans in the tofu had to die without growing a new soy plant to become food. Humans can't live without taking lives, even if those lives are plants instead of Pokémon. You just have to remember that whatever you eat, be it grass, berries, or Pokémon, you have to live its part. Don't waste a thing.
I'm not sure how good I am at fighting, but I can hold my own. You're right, though. Enlightened can do more than just fight. We can help humans and Pokémon understand each other and live in harmony.

It feels a lot of people still think that Pokémon are there just to harm us... But I think they just want to live the way they know how. That was the lesson we were supposed to learn, back in those old days, wasn't it...?
[And because they were probably getting a little trite now, Lucas smiles, a bit embarrassed.]
I kind of hope there aren't any Pokémon near any iron mine we find. It feels a little like stealing.
((I could throw in a random encounter if you guys want!))
no subject
That's what the Savior taught. But sometimes people forget that, I think. It's sad, really...
[Cecilia shakes her head, then she looks down at the ground.]
I guess, if you think about it, we'll be eating the iron ore from the ground. Metaphorically, at least. So we have to live its part, too.
no subject
I've never thought of humans using nonliving things being like eating them. But if we treat them like we are, then maybe we wouldn't need to mine as much-
[He senses hostility and stops walking, extending an arm to give a "stop" gesture to those behind him.]
Someone's coming.
((Go ahead, Wighty!))
no subject
[Avey tenses up in Lucas's arms; the boy casts out his thoughts and -- ]
I can feel it, too. There's something angry...
[A slight pause as Lucas turns in a half-circle.]
They're going to attack!
[Almost before he finishes speaking, a crackle of electricity lashes through the air towards the group; the enemy bursts out of the brush! Two wild Shinx - led by a Luxio!]
no subject
[Thankfully, neither Cecilia nor Raftina are weak to electricity. She still gets shocked; she yelps and leaps backward, before she holds a hand up into the air.]
[A cool mist wafts over Apollo, increasing his defenses. At the same time, Raftina leaps forward. The little Eevee rushes, and then swipes its front claws down at one of the left Shinx.]
no subject
Fletchling takes off to make it harder to hit him and circles around while Apollo blasts messages telling the attackers to back off into their minds. Going for a show of force, he mentally signals Fletchling and they both dart at the Luxio, Fletchling from behind using Quick Attack, Apollo from the front attacking with enough speed to effectively be a version of Quick Attack that deals typeless damage. They're both aiming for a knockout, not a kill, and hoping that if they take out the leader the other two will back down.]
no subject
[It's true. The three Pokemon don't seem to respond to Apollo's mental prodding in any meaningful way, nor to Lucas's. The psychics will pick up a great deal of anger - but also an intent focus. They weren't simply attacking blindly here.
At Apollo and Fletchling's charge, the Luxio simply Roars, a blast of sound that sends even Lucas, standing a ways behind Apollo, tumbling back. The left Shinx, in the meantime, bristles with electricity as Raftina swipes at it; the second Shinx sends a jolt of electricity towards the Fletchling, which it recognizes as being an easy target.]
Avey -- !
[Avey leaps out of Lucas's arms as he picks himself up from the ground and launches through the air - a burst of energy will suddenly flow into Apollo, Cecilia and their Pokemon as Helping Hand comes into play.]
no subject
[Raftina drops back, shocked by the electricity surrounding the left Shinx. She hisses; then she drives forward, and she lunges forward with a speedy attack, claws swiping at the Shinx. She isn't aiming for deep blows, at least.]
no subject
Apollo, meanwhile, has his charge aborted by the Roar and has to strain to hold his place, but still slides back a fair distance. The moment it ends though he's moving again, curving around to circle the Luxio and occasionally pass behind a tree for a moment. Whenever he does he changes his running speed, trying to make it harder to predict where he'll be. Noticing their focus, he switches to a different track and starts mentally asking what exactly they're after.]
no subject
...
Wait, us?
[Apparently they would suffice.
The two Shinx focus on Raftina, now, and as the second Shinx is about to strike a blow from behind, the blast of wind strikes and knocks it reeling back. Avey leaps into the fray proper, kicking up a pile of dirt into the first Shinx's eyes - a Sand Attack, dimming its electricity in time for Raftina to strike a blow full on.
Luxio, in the meantime, has properly identified Apollo as the most significant threat amongst the group of humans and shoots off jolt after jolt after electricity - most of them strike a tree, but perhaps a few will get through.]
Fletchling --
[A light blue glow surrounds Lucas and he quickly sends a wave of psychic energy at the injured Pokemon as it flutters by him. The healing would hopefully keep it from being too badly hurt if struck again.]
no subject
[Cecilia can't follow the thoughts. She sees Raftina come under fire and shouts out a warning. That proves unnecessary; Avey leaps to the rescue, and Raftina follows her first strike up with a swift headbutt at the Shinx that it was fighting.]
[Cecilia turns to focus on Apollo for a moment. She swings her staff out, and sends another pink sparkle-laced gust of wind flying, directly at the side of the Luxio, to try to throw its balance off.]
no subject
Unfortunately, that the Pokémon are attacking them for food means that they eat meat, and Apollo doesn't have any in his pack right now that he could offer them. He starts mentally projecting loud warnings of attacks from every possible direction, including from underground and his own location. Mixed in with the distracting warning are mental images of the humans happily eating their attackers, Apollo grinding up their bones and fertilizing plants with them, Apollo wearing their pelts sewn together into a cloak...
Fletchling thanked Lucas and circled around, trying to come up with a way to attack without being struck by lightning.]
no subject
[Lucas finishes healing up Fletchling and turns to Cecilia with an awkward smile.]
I think they're hungry.
[Apollo's new psychic strategy succeeds in making the group angrier, although perhaps this will lead to greater carelessness. Luxio fries the boots as they come its way, though it doesn't abandon its position yet to chase after wherever Apollo has gone. Being much heavier than its younger brethren, the wind is only enough to cause it to anchor itself firmly into the dirt, scrunching close to the ground - it retaliates by turning its attention to Cecilia, who receives an electric shock arcing her way for her troubles.
The Eevee are faring a bit better against the Shinx. The second one recovers from the wind to charge back into the fray with a Spark, knocking Avey away, but Raftina's headbutt successfully drives the blinded Shinx back against a tree.]
...We should take out the Shinx first - then everyone can fight together against the bigger one!
[As Avey goes tumbling back, Lucas leaps forward now, wielding his... trusty yo-yo. The toy flies through the air with uncanny accuracy, striking the Sparking Shinx straight in the nose - once, twice, three times before it veers off to the side and rapidly begins to entwine about the small creature's legs. It appears the toy responds to Lucas's psychic ability in some manner.
...Unfortunately for Lucas, the next crackle of electricity flickers up his yo-yo string quite easily and the boy is momentarily paralyzed by the electric shock.]
