1st Star [Video]
[After visiting the council and seeking permission to stay in Union City, Renko was more than pleased with their answer. They'd even given her one of those Warp Band devices she'd seen most people around the city wear. Needless to say, she looks thrilled once she gets it all figured out and starts recording.]
Hey, this thing isn't as hard to figure out as I thought it would be! That's great!
So it's pretty obvious that I'm not from around here. That aside, my name's Renko Usami, and I've decided to stay here! It's quite a bit different than what I'm used to in most ways.
[She pauses for a moment, debating what to say next, all the while counting the seconds away in her head. She needed to make a good impression on these people. She hoped she was doing a good job.]
I'd really like to learn more about all of you. Your stories, culture, technology, any of it, really. Is there a library I can check out? Other than that, any advice at all would be appreciated, especially with exploring some of the areas outside the city. It didn't seem so bad on the way here, but I was in a group then. I'm guessing going solo would be a very different experience.
Anyway, that's it for now. Thank you for allowing me to stay in your city.

But you can bond rather easily with some of the creatures in the forest. I think they must be warmed to us by now... oh! But you asked me about variation, didn't you? There's some differences from what I've seen. A lot of similar types, but there's difference. Especially in the Scorched Forest.

[Renko browses the shelves as well, although she seems to be paying more attention to Blue. Gathering information was more important right now! If she had to, she could always come back and buy medicines later.]
I'll have to look and see if there are any Pokémon that might be interesting out there. I've only been in the northern section of the forest so far. The Scorched Forest? I'm assuming there are fire types there.
no subject
That's right! Fletching, magby, and slugma... my friend also found his charmander there. Pineco and murkrow are there too, but they're usually found in the southern forests.

[It would make sense. Pokémon didn't just suddenly appear. They would have needed time to move in and adjust.]
Do yo know anything about it?
no subject
But I'm just a small-time trainer, so I wouldn't take my word that it's a complete mystery. Maybe there is something people know about it.
no subject
[Even though Blue doesn't have a definitive answer, Renko is still fairly pleased. Maybe she could try to solve this herself at some point.]
It's certainly possible. At the very least, there's bound to be some theories about it.

[Taking one or two more items, she proceeds to the counter to pay for the things, thanking the person serving and slipping the items into her bag. Once to the side, near the way out...]
We can keep walking through the district and look at the shops if you want.
no subject
That sounds like a fine idea to me. Do you have any favorite places to shop?
no subject
Did you want to have a look inside?
no subject
We should probably keep moving on. I can always look inside another time, right?
no subject
Sure; I'll show you the way to the medical centre and then we can head to the library.
no subject
[The medical center is definitely a place she needs to know the location of. Everyone has accidents at one point or another, and Renko knows very well she'll need to bring herself or her Pokémon there eventually.]
no subject
When they're around the outside of the medical centre she stops, motioning a hand to it.]
Here's the medical centre. You and your pokémon both come here for medical attention... but, if anything really bad happens to your pokémon, it might be better to send them back through the warp band and giving a warning through the network that they need medical attention. If you're really far out and getting back will take too much time, that is.
no subject
The medical center though, is probably the most important location she needs to know. But that mention about the capabilities of the warp band definitely catches her interest.]
You can actually transport Pokémon with these? I wasn't aware of that. Is there a limited range for that function?
[Honestly, it sounded similar to the PC system she was used to back home.]
no subject
[She lifts up her band, showing... something that indicates about pokémon ok.]
We can't walk around with them everywhere, and not everybody can keep their pokémon at home... so we keep pokémon in the habitat. You can have some ready to be called up before you leave, so when you need them...
[She shifts the squirtle in her arm, bringing attention to her.]
Ta-da.
no subject
[If that's true, it almost seems better than the system she's used to. While the warp bands are unlikely able to hold as many Pokémon as the PC system, perhaps it can be upgraded.]
I'll definitely have to give it a try.

I'm sure you'd love seeing the shrines.

Shrines?
no subject
They're both like the Scorched Forest - shrouded in mystery. [Smile!] So perfect for you.
