1st Code [Video]

[It didn't take too long for Eve to figure out how to use the Warp Band that she'd been given by Robotnik. A device that allowed her to communicate with both humans and Pokémon. She'd already tested it on the latter, the proof being the Magnemite and Klink floating just behind her.

She stares intensely at the device before she begins to speak. For the most part, she looks completely human. If you ignore the strange core and band of metal obscuring her forehead.]

People of Union City. I need your combined knowledge.

[A pause. She wasn't sure if this was working properly, but she would find out soon enough. She might as well finish speaking first.]

What is the best way to form a strong bond? The best way to enhance my own strength? I need to know these things.

[Even if people gave her different answers and opinions, she could piece together her own answer using theirs.]

If this recorded properly, I can be contacted through this device. I'll be waiting.

[Tutor-mode, activated!] Well, the best way to get stronger is simply to train. Practicing your abilities or facing wild Pokemon are good ways, but the latter can be very dangerous. I strongly advise caution when gauging your opponent's strength.

But forming a strong bond is a bit more complicated- I believe being patient and trying to understand them is usually important, but every Pokemon is different. I'm afraid there can't really be said to be one clear way to bond easily with them. [She smiles at the two Steel-types behind Eve.] But it seems like you're doing well so far with that anyway.

Very good then! I also recommend going with a group if you plan to go too far from the city, at least until you have a good-sized team of your own.

[Mari pauses, smile turning more thoughtful.] Hm... I see, that is a bit unusual. [Even Mari's own starter, a city native and already partially domesticated, had to be talked to and asked before it joined her. Perhaps the girl was just underselling her own action?] Even so, there must have been something you did to interest them. Do you know of anything you might have done?

...Hm, yes, that is certainly an atypical response. [To put it lightly. Perhaps because the Pokemon and her shared a typing? Mari ignored her own curiosity- it wasn't her place to pry. The girl asked for advice, so that was more important.]

Well, forming a bond with a Pokemon is, essentially, just convincing them that you're a good potential partner. What a good partner means depends on the Pokemon, though- some want to get stronger, some want friends, and some have their own goals that you could help them with. The Warp Band can help to understand them, but since the connection is brief, it helps to have an idea of what the Pokemon is looking for before you use it.

Precisely! As long as you're patient and respectful with your observations, and I'm sure you'll do well.

Heh... nice taste in Pokemon, there.

[Sollux smirks a little as his own Magnemite and Klink float behind him.]

Just do what comes naturally. Hang out with your pokemon and train along side them. They'll keep close and help ya out when ya need it.

..Be yourself around them. Some don't like it if ya ain't honest with them.

Or ya could do that too.

I've always found the best way to form a strong bond is to take the time and patience to get to know the Pokemon you're bonding with.

It...it varies. It really can't be standardized, I'm afraid.

Be...because that's not how people -- er, people or Pokemon work. You cannot standardize something with an unlimited range of responses.

You...can estimate, based on type and temperament, but it won't ever be 100% accurate.

Well, it depends on the type, as I said.
