Departure
The 10th day of Team Evolution's visit dawns.
The night before, the Council had sent out another message commenting about their decision concerning the machines. They could not in good faith return any to Team Evolution after what had happened. But in exchange, they would offer an example of Warp Band technology and explain the means by which Union trainers and Pokémon communicate. This particular Warp Band could operate only one way - it could only receive messages directly sent to its particular address. There was no chance of the team being able to tap in to the network.
The Council did not make any comment on the extraordinary events that had occurred the previous day. It seems nobody knew anything about Mega Evolution or what to make of it.
Early on the 10th morning, representatives from the Council could be seen speaking with the leading members of Team Evolution once more, and though Rory appears disappointed, he does not argue overly much. The rest of their team is already in the process of packing up their tents... To the side, Crystal and Sakina can be seen, having reappeared after their unceremonious departure earlier. Crystal stays close by Sakina at all times; the latter seems vaguely disoriented.
Idle talk would have it that they intend to leave before noon. But there is some time for last minute conversations still, though they would necessarily need to be short.
Before departure, Rory has something more to say as well to anyone within earshot.
"We thank you for your hospitality, and we hope that we have given you all something to ponder. I will not belabor our departure by repeating what I said previously, but it is truly our fervent goal that we may build a world where neither humans nor Pokemon need live in fear. If any of you wish to contact us, we have been told that this Warp Band is capable of receiving direct messages. We would be glad to hear from any of you.
"We understand our previous actions caused a great deal of damage within this city. While we can do little to beg your forgiveness, we do wish to leave you with a token of good will."
He will bow, then.
"Perhaps we can agree on one thing - let us hold faith in the bright future of this world!"

Imagine that you had lived your entire life one arm tied behind your back and one leg hobbled. Imagine that everyone in the world lived like that, and it was considered normal and no one knew what it was like to have two arms and two legs.
Then imagine that somebody removed those restraints...
Ioke turns her gaze towards Rory for a moment, who maintains an expression of curiosity on his face.

Imogen doesn't translate the answer, but she keeps it in mind. It wasn't too different from her feeling when her eyes opened the first time. Gold and could cut through the darkness.
"How is it turning back?"

She nods slightly to the Pokeball. She'd never met a Pokemon whose seen the inside of one. The last balls that were... functional, were a long time lost. And most of the wild ones were so far removed the stories were gone.

"...Did I do something?"
no subject
"Comfortable? How much space is in there?"
no subject
It's hard to describe a Pokeball to someone who had never been inside one. It wasn't as if they shrunk and got crammed inside - that was ridiculous. They existed as energy, and all the accommodations similarly were energy in form as well. Obviously, the upper bounds were far greater as a result, though the techology was always improving.
"Ioke does not know how one of these is made - nor do I, I fear. But as I'm sure you can imagine, binding a Pokemon and placing them in a cramped space without room to move would do nothing good for their health. They would hardly be able to survive."

"She says you need to upgrade her Pokeball, that you promised." Imogen crossed her arms. She was still very unsure from her talk with that Sakina woman, all she said still felt... wrong. But Ioke didn't seem to be harmed by the ball, or her transformation in the match. "How do you communicate with them?"

Rory's face flushes a color similar to his hair as he glances down at Ioke, who now looks faintly smug.
"I... did, didn't I? Let's see... Ah, but we won't be going back until... Hm."
The Blaziken rolls her eyes a bit.
"As soon as we return to a facility, I promise."
Ioke disappears in a red flash of light and he returns her to his pocket.
"And I believe, after all the questions you've had, that is one I ought to be asking you."
no subject
Imogen figured he'd have a follow up after that, as her answer was accurate without actually being anything like useful. She definitely appreciated his discomfort at being caught forgetting his partner, even slightly. Which helped her mood more than she cared to admit.

His smile is wry now.
"Well, I suppose we all have secrets to keep."
no subject
Which was true, she could go into how there are Enlightened, and how they are more 'like Pokemon' than people who aren't. But that won't explain why she's more attuned to Pokemon than she is people, and why she understands them when they talk to her. And since that's what he cared about, that's what she can't answer.

Rory seems slightly disappointed, but then, there was no reason for her to hold back.
