Yo! Union, I got a question for you.
Okay, so, the thought just came to me [No inspiration or anything..] I got these two little guys here. [He holds his Nidorans up in his arms, either Doug is a really small guy or the Nidorans are oversized...
Anyway--] So for years I've wondered this, maybe some of you Enlightened guy can help me out. Why do they both say "Nidoran"?
[The male Nidoran goes "Nido" at that and the female goes "Ran" both seeming rather happy in their masters arms.] Is one of them shiny? I don't think so, I mean, that's just a color thing.. right?? This one is a legitimate different shape and size, they can't both be the same pokemon.
They both know different attacks too.. one's a boy and the others a girl just so you know. This is Nigel [He lifts the male Nidoran, facing him--] and this is Nina [--then he lifts the female.]

I have to ask. It's bothered you for years, and yet you've never picked up a book on their species?
video;
I don't got time for that stuff.
[Isn't that right you dangerously poisonous little monsters?]
Do you know why they both say Nidoran?

In the Nido family, each gender has a different body shape, color, and move set. It would be simple to find if you had only looked it up.

Are you completely positive? Because that sounds a l i t t l e w e i r d...

It's a bit uncreative, I suppose.

...but those don't look or sound anything alike except the same body shape.
Hm...

But I guess you have a point..

[Heeey, now that you mention it.. their are female and male only pokemon. He gives his Nidorans a look..] So Nigel is going to evolve into something completely different from Nina? Doesn't that make them different Pokemon? [He scratches his head..]
I guess male and female Burmy's all say the same thing, but they don't look different until they evolve... that's so weird.
It's how they are. I think it's interesting.
Guess that just means my pokemon are pretty advanced, you know?

[Unless we're talking about getting meat from them, but Apollo's assuming that Doug isn't planning on eating Pokémon he's bonded with.]

One is male, one is female.

But.. doesn't that sound a little weird to you? Aren't most pokemon pretty much the same looking no matter their gender or whatever?
no subject
Do you think all male and female humans look the same, for example?
no subject
Course, there is that female only Pokemon down at the clinic so I guess that makes sense. They've just always said Nidoran.. they both like wearing bows and being pet. I'm not sure what type they are either.. maybe normal? That's what attacks they know.
no subject
No, but they all have very similar characteristics. Some species look very distinctly different depending on gender, usually for mating purposes.
[She hmms.]
I think there are some Enlightened who might be able to tell you that. What type they are.
no subject
Certain Enlightened, huh? Well, I'm glad I asked or else I wouldn't have known.
