Thespians for Sale! (Date Auction)

Almost there! It had taken them the better part of a year, but the Union Divine Theater had nearly been restored in the aftermath of Kyurem’s attack. As a historic monument, they had to be careful to only use period-appropriate building materials, and employed only the finest craftsmen. But now they’re nearly ready for business again.

So of course, they’re holding a fundraiser. And, of course, it’s a date auction.

Not just any date auction, though! The courtyard has been taken up with several small tables, behind which each thespian being raffled off is seated. Interested bidders are welcome to chat with the “prizes” or to check out the long line of tables across from the auction decorated with several super-classy glass jars. Each jar has a person’s name on it, and a small watercolor picture of the person in question next to it. These individuals have volunteered (or been volunteered) to serve as extra dates - just buy a ticket from the Slowking and the Wooper at the end of the tables and you can enter to win!

Small placards scattered throughout the event specify that all “prizes” must be 18 years or over, and that all dates must be family-friendly. All “prizes” also have the option, if they desire, of specifying which gender of date they prefer. Additionally, while the humans mingle, their Pokémon are encouraged to chat with the Nidoking who’s waiting just inside the theater. He’s giving tours of the stage area complete with the option of putting on a production! Be sure to tell your Trainers to buy tickets to the Theater’s next show!

The event will run all day, with bidding starting at $25 (Union currency). Are you ready to make a new friend??

[[ OOC: The date raffle and auction is live! Please follow the instructions beneath each top-level below. Each character being auctioned will have their own auction thread, where all bids go for that character - threadjacking is encouraged, and a mingle thread where people can talk to that character. Each character being raffled has their own section for people to note they’ve put in a ticket, but these can all be replies to the top-level. Each character being raffled also has their own spot for mingling. OOCly, results for the auctions and raffles will be announced in about a week.

Pokémon interested in performing on stage can leave top-level comments in the section at the bottom of the post. Their scene partner tags in with a result from the RP Scenario Generator: this is the scene the two Pokémon are encouraged to act out. An assortment of costume pieces, sets, and props are available. [Well. He definitely doesn't look all that excited about all this. He had grudgingly decided to go along with it only because Pidge brought up a very important detail: He definitely added to the damages to the theater a week or so ago.]

[So. Here he was. He did his best not to look sour, but he still wasn't exactly smiling, either. At least he was dressed nice and kind of cute?]

[Pidge felt a degree of responsibility for Keith's 'accident' as well. Although there was no way that either of them could have known it would happen, Pidge was still kicking herself for not having the foresignt to put precautions into place. Even if her association with Keith was recent, the two of them still had an understanding of sorts.

Neither would be in Union if not for the other-- and Pidge only regretted that she wasn't able to help out more than this.]

You get anything good yet? [she asked, passing Keith a drink and plate of snacks that she had grabbed from the other side of the room as she slid into a seat near Keith. Though young and inexperienced, she still wanted to help Keith as much as she could in this.]

[Ah, speak of the devil.]

[...At least the devil brought snacks. He will gladly accept those and start to snack. Of course if he could read mind he would find it very strange that Pidge would feel responsible for his powers going wack in the eve of a God-induced nightmare. What happened happened. All they could do was try to make it right.]

Not yet. I'll be kind of surprised if anyone bites. I'm not an actor.

Neither of us are-- but, we've gotta at least try, so we can pay them back.

[Pidge cast Keith a firm look, as if to impress upon him that he was doing this for the both of them, before tearing her gaze away. The siuation alone was just too awkward, and neither of them were exactly good with people.]

If you need a break, I think Shadow would be willing to pinch-hit for you, [she said, referring to the Zorua she had bonded with recently. The little fox liked to change it's appearance and take on the form of others around him for fun-- surely, with a pokemon like that around, they would be successful!]

[He DOES look a little sour at that, looking away, but saying nothing. He knows this whole thing is important. He knows they have stuff to try and fix and he knows this place needs the help rebuilding. That didn't mean any of this made him vaguely comfortable. What was he supposed to do on a date? He's never dated before.]

I'll be fine. I'll see this through.

[Because even if he didn't like it, that didn't mean he wouldn't stick it out until the end.]

[Pidge nodded, still acutely aware of how uncomfortable Keith was about this whole thing.]

I can go along with you then, [she offered.] You can explain that you needed to keep an eye on your kid sister if you need an excuse, too. Apparently girls dig guys who are responsible like that.

[redpaladin]

[There's a pause and he looks over at her with a vaguely amused expression.]

Do they? I wouldn't know.

[And then he gives it some thought.]

I guess I wouldn't mind if you wanted to play wingman.

[Honestly it would probably help him be worlds more comfortable.]

I grew up with a big brother, [Pidge explained evenly, not even a hint of humor in her tone or demeanor.] Someone needed to protect him-- from the jerks of the world to the women who would take advantage of him.

I don't mind, if you'd feel more comfortable doing it like this.

[redpaladin]

[He knows that she doesn't bring up her family without good reason. He makes a small amused huff.]

That doesn't surprise me.

[A thoughtful expression and he nods.]

I would appreciate that.

[greyerrant]

[ That's okay, someone's looking sour for you. One calderan at least is giving you the stink-eye from across the room, more or less. ]

[redpaladin]

[Who the what.]

[Keith just kind of stares back at him. He was ...familiar. Maybe???]

[He narrows his eyes with something of a suspicious look right back at him.]

...um. Me?

[greyerrant]

[ The glare continues. ]

Yes... Renegade. .

[redpaladin]

[...]

[Oh, now he remembers. He goes tense, that look becoming downright venomous.]

What do you want.

[greyerrant]

Not to see you, that's for certain. But it would appear my wish was not granted.

[ He schools himself back to civility. ]

Well, the war is over now. So I expect your desertion can be overlooked.

[redpaladin]

[He's here to help out the place that's putting a roof over his head and that's the only reason he doesn't pull out his knife right now. It's the only reason he stays right where he is and just watches him like a tense, coiled cat.]

Court-martial. I was court-martialed, I didn't fucking desert.

A fair point. I shouldn't let my disgust make me tell an untruth.

[ He folds his arms. And looks fairly ready to go, but... there's also hint of reluctance there. As if he wouldn't want to dishonor himself and the Union by brawling. ]

[He gets a rude snort in response.]

[He's talking himself down from starting a fight. He has a lot at stake here. Pidge is relying on him and this place is the only connection he has in Union. Still, if this guy doesn't leave soon he might have to be actually restrained.]

[Thank god Keith has good reflexes.]

[Normally. He was a little distracted today so he only looks up just in time for the box to smack him across the forehead.]

Tentatively, he works his way out of his wince to peer up at Keith. Are you...are you okay??? ]

[Well, here's that guy who may or may not have caused said additional damage. His Pokemon have at least reassured him that he is part of the theater troupe now, though, so he's just heading up to him with as friendly a smile as he can muster in his own state.]

[Oh geez. One of the guys who saw him set everything on fire. He is going to at least try and be friend but man. He's pretty bad at that.]

Yeah. Just fine. You?

Doing better. Never thought I gain a second type like this, though...

[He makes a face before gesturing to his hand.]

It kinda sucks when you're not prepared to gain a Dark-type, y'know?

[He passes a glance at him and frowns slightly, his brow quirking with faint confusion.]

Is there something wrong with dark types?

Oh, no! I got a couple of Dark-types among my crew, and they're okay. ... mostly. It's just that this new typing doesn't seem to mix well with my usual Fairy self.
