Thespians for Sale! (Date Auction)
Who: The Union Divine Theater, volunteers, and YOU(r money)!
What: Date Auction/Raffle for fundraising
When: September 3
Where: Union Divine Theater
Warnings: Excessive fabulousness.
Almost there! It had taken them the better part of a year, but the Union Divine Theater had nearly been restored in the aftermath of Kyurem’s attack. As a historic monument, they had to be careful to only use period-appropriate building materials, and employed only the finest craftsmen. But now they’re nearly ready for business again.
So of course, they’re holding a fundraiser. And, of course, it’s a date auction.
Not just any date auction, though! The courtyard has been taken up with several small tables, behind which each thespian being raffled off is seated. Interested bidders are welcome to chat with the “prizes” or to check out the long line of tables across from the auction decorated with several super-classy glass jars. Each jar has a person’s name on it, and a small watercolor picture of the person in question next to it. These individuals have volunteered (or been volunteered) to serve as extra dates - just buy a ticket from the Slowking and the Wooper at the end of the tables and you can enter to win!
Small placards scattered throughout the event specify that all “prizes” must be 18 years or over, and that all dates must be family-friendly. All “prizes” also have the option, if they desire, of specifying which gender of date they prefer. Additionally, while the humans mingle, their Pokémon are encouraged to chat with the Nidoking who’s waiting just inside the theater. He’s giving tours of the stage area complete with the option of putting on a production! Be sure to tell your Trainers to buy tickets to the Theater’s next show!
The event will run all day, with bidding starting at $25 (Union currency). Are you ready to make a new friend??

Honestly I was here trying to socialize. I think we can both chalk this up to... an unfortunate twist of fate.
[ A Riolu is shadowing Garviel and making pugnacious gestures at Keith. Like it wants to go more than it's companion does, really. It's taking an elaborate martial arts stance that is in no way actually practical, and Garviel gives it a reproving look. ]

[Okay, maybe he could have kept it civil but that just kind of slipped it's way out.]
[Meanwhile Keith's pokemon- the Cleffa that had been napping in the hood of his coat peeks over his shoulder. What the heckie is going on here. Trainer are you starting fights, she swears to Savior-]
[Keith only gives the pokemon a brief look with a quirked eyebrow. At least Garviel wasn't sicking it on him, not that he'd be surprised if he did.]

[Pidge had been paying attention to Keith no matter where she was in the room, well aware of Keith's discomfort with this sort of atmosphere and his problems with controlling his flames. It was why she was discreetly delivering water bottles-- in case she needed to dash across the room and put out some unnecessary flames.
She squeezed her way through the crowd and vaulted the table to get by her friend's side.]
Is everything okay over here? [She asked, not-so-subtly casting the GIANT MAN (to her perspective) a withering look for bothering her friend.]

I'm so sorry to hear that.
[His tone isn't sarcastic at least, it's just incredibly flat.]
[And then Pidge busts in. He starts, looking behind him as she literally vaults the whole table to get to him. Holy Arcanines.]

[For now. He gives Garviel a look as if daring him to challenge that. Look you might not be afraid of him but you don't want to fuck with the small one here, she's a lot scarier than he is.]

It matter to me because of what he once was. A comrade. And he dishonored the Battalion, and was cast out. And now I find him here with you. And I wonder what part that might have played, having just returned from the war myself. So you will forgive me my suspicion, I think. Or not. It matters little, much as his indignation does. I have wasted more than enough time with you both. I am here for the Union and Caldera, not to refight the old arguments of the past.

[She pushed passed Keith and climbed up onto a chair so she could look the soldier eye-to-eye, forcing the impression that they could have been equals here upon him. Her brown eyes blazed behind her glasses as she regarded him, lit by the fires of a reckless determination that any Calderan could appreciate.]
Doctor Samuel Holt. Matt Holt. They're my father and brother-- and explorers for the military who disappeared some time ago. If you think I look familiar, then you must have seen them at some point-- do you have any idea where they are?

...Mom and I weren't even given the decency of being told in person-- we had to watch their names be slandered in the news, and I'm not standing for that.
But Keith's out looking for someone, too, so our goals just happen to coincide. That's why we decided to work together.

I mean, it isn't unthinkable that they were casualties of war... but I honestly and sincerely wish you best of luck in finding them. The desire for family is a human motivation, and it would be churlish of me to deny someone else's humanity by not wishing them luck in finding them.
