Almost there! It had taken them the better part of a year, but the Union Divine Theater had nearly been restored in the aftermath of Kyurem’s attack. As a historic monument, they had to be careful to only use period-appropriate building materials, and employed only the finest craftsmen. But now they’re nearly ready for business again.

So of course, they’re holding a fundraiser. And, of course, it’s a date auction.

Not just any date auction, though! The courtyard has been taken up with several small tables, behind which each thespian being raffled off is seated. Interested bidders are welcome to chat with the “prizes” or to check out the long line of tables across from the auction decorated with several super-classy glass jars. Each jar has a person’s name on it, and a small watercolor picture of the person in question next to it. These individuals have volunteered (or been volunteered) to serve as extra dates - just buy a ticket from the Slowking and the Wooper at the end of the tables and you can enter to win!

Small placards scattered throughout the event specify that all “prizes” must be 18 years or over, and that all dates must be family-friendly. All “prizes” also have the option, if they desire, of specifying which gender of date they prefer. Additionally, while the humans mingle, their Pokémon are encouraged to chat with the Nidoking who’s waiting just inside the theater. He’s giving tours of the stage area complete with the option of putting on a production! Be sure to tell your Trainers to buy tickets to the Theater’s next show!

The event will run all day, with bidding starting at $25 (Union currency). Are you ready to make a new friend??

[[ OOC: The date raffle and auction is live! Please follow the instructions beneath each top-level below. Each character being auctioned will have their own auction thread, where all bids go for that character - threadjacking is encouraged, and a mingle thread where people can talk to that character. Each character being raffled has their own section for people to note they’ve put in a ticket, but these can all be replies to the top-level. Each character being raffled also has their own spot for mingling. OOCly, results for the auctions and raffles will be announced in about a week.

Pokémon interested in performing on stage can leave top-level comments in the section at the bottom of the post. Their scene partner tags in with a result from the RP Scenario Generator: this is the scene the two Pokémon are encouraged to act out. An assortment of costume pieces, sets, and props are available. Rei and she had discussed this earlier. With Rei's blessing and a small fortune, Ami had went with the intent of saving the other bluenette.

"$500," she said easily and calmly although she had far more available. Being a doctor and engaged to a politician had quite a bit of monetary gain.

Someone who is totally not eavesdropping on this particular auction, what are you talking about, chokes on a laugh. Michiru would be expensive. She's amused.

But what would make Ami want to pay that much?

Because, Haruka, auction wars, much like chess games, are mind games. Intimidation out the gate ensures the removal of weaker competition.

And Ami always plays to win, especially in the case of rescuing Michiru.

[If there was one person Pidge was moderately concerned about in recent weeks, it was Michiru. Their battle with Mewtwo's army had pit their scattered little group against a pair of powerful Psychic-types, and Michiru took the brunt of the attacks. Pidge knew rationally that the woman was fine, but it always felt strange being in the same room as her-- partly due to Pidge's own guilt.

Thus, she approached Michiru's table that day with one thing in mind...]

Uh.....about that time, [Pidge said awkwardly, rocking on her feet as she tried to put words together without tying up her tongue.] I....we....Keith and I never thanked you properly for all your help, did we?

[Michiru blinks in surprise, and then her expression relaxes into a smile when she recognizes you.]

It's alright. It was a bit of a fiasco, wasn't it?

It was...

[Pidge felt some of the tension leave her shoulders when Michiru spoke up, but she was still just bothered by that entire affair.]

Keith and I are still new to all this, so I also wanna apologize for not being able to be a bigger help out there. You can't exactly call what we were out there a 'team' because of how scattered we were. It's not exactly fair when the enemies are just targeting one person, either.

We all have to start somewhere. [here's a reassuring smile] It was just unfortunate that you were caught up in all that so quickly.

I wasn't much help either, in the end. [good thing Gordon was there.]

[depending on the moment, you'll either catch Michiru smiling serenely with an Oshawott standing on the table, "helping out" by waving his shell around to attract attention

...Or you could catch her grabbing a Bidoof by the scruff and holding it as far away from her body as humanely possible.

Somemon might have tried to bid with a slightly banged up poffin. One that was clearly stolen from the kitchens, judging from the trail of crumbs.]

[Ami came over and patted the Oshawott on the head, having every intention of "winning" the date with Michiru.]

[Oshawott squeaks happily, leaning forward so Ami can get that sweet spot right behind the ears.

Michiru just chuckles.] I have a good feeling about today.

[She loves water pokemon, what can she say? She continues to scratch and cuddle the little Oshawott.] Oh yes, you are just a little cutie. You're going to grow up big and strong, just like my little Mercury.

[She glanced up to Michiru and grinned.] I do as well. Rei also sends her regards, I don't know if she will be able to attend.

[ Uh-oh, Brad, it's the police.

Okay, it's the Swords of the Savior, but either way - they don't look kindly on theft! ]

Would you? [here's a grateful smile as she hands over Brad, who suddenly starts wiggling wildly. ]

He thinks he lives here. [she sounds just a bit exasperated]

A repeat offender? [ Veronica's grip on the creature tightens. She lifts him up and turns him from side to side, examining her catch. ] Someone needs to learn his lesson.

[Rei is making an appearance today, mostly to check up on Michiru. She'd heard about the auction, and was somewhat amused by it. Ami had all her donation money though, so she hardly felt the need to bid.

What she did feel the need to do was ask her friend some other stuff.]

Well enough. Ami can be quite intimidating when she wants to be.

[ It's a bento. It's a bento full of veggies carved to look like Water-type Pokémon. And leaves. Some of them are also carved to look like leaves.

Haruka settles herself down next to Michiru without waiting to be invited, setting aside her crutches to open up a bento full of tiny veggie Rhyhorn. And tiny veggie leaves. ] The bug's been cooking.

[ Nothing in this bento requires heating over open flame, however. Coincidentally. ]

They didn't need costumes. [ Sure, there's the Pokémon performances - that's where Natto is now - but that mostly involves props and hats and things. Many of which the Theater already had. And Haruka doesn't think Natto knows how to not volunteer to help with events.

Haruka picks a "Rhyhorn" up with her chopsticks and turns it around. It would be absurd to think that someone as relaxed and devil-may-care as Haruka Tenoh might be counting the rock ridges on her vegetable Rhyhorn for accuracy, wouldn't it? ]
