[Sorey is incredibly excited to get to explore all of Union and its ruins, but he's been holding off on the ruins until Mikleo got back from Gigas so they could go exploring together.

And he's back, so that means Sorey is trying to find where the blazes he's supposed to get a lantern. His Eevee is just sitting at his feet, yawning while Sorey looks around the Union shopping district a bit confused]

There's got to be a supply shop around here somewhere...or even a bookstore.

Closed to Mikleo

[Mikleo is met by Sorey's Eevee whenever he gets back to where they're staying since Sorey's gone to get dinner. Mab nearly trips him as he runs over and rubs himself all over Mikleo's ankles. Looks like he was worried]

I knew about the expedition--Mikleo went. But you got books from there?!

Sure did! I bought some. This one guy in the bookstore recommended I pick some up to try selling.

It seems like a good idea!

[She winks.]

Are you from Union? You've probably never seen anything like this stuff.

Actually I'm from Sanctuary. I knew Gigas had books but Gramps made sure we never bought any.

Oh, hey! I've been to Sanctuary, too. It's a pretty nice town.

[And there goes her head, tilting to the side.]

He didn't want you buying books? I mean... I'm not much of a book person. At least, not these. Novels and stuff are great.

But histories and engineering manuals probably will sell better.

No, he did, just not any books from Gigas. I was always curious, though--wait, you said histories?

Sure. They might be popular in Sanctuary! And if they sell, that's great, right?

Or maybe the Seekers will want 'em.

Sanctuary probably won't want Gigan histories...

You wanna? Sure, let's head to the Spearowfeathers' wagon. We got all of our stock there!

[She's leading the way already] I'm Rose, by the way.

My name is Sorey. This is Mab.

[The Eevee waves his tail]

Nice to meetcha! All my bondmates are back at the wagon.

[She waves at Mab; then she's walking, quickly, and cutting through some alleys and sidestreets. She's learned Union pretty well.]

How'd you end up in Union?

Mikleo and I decided to head this way after Sanctuary was liberated. It just took us a while to actually get here. You?

I'm the leader of some merchants named the Spearowfeathers. Union's at the center of, like, everything.

So it was a natural place to operate out of! We were in Caldera, before.

[ruinsandchill]

Which is funny, since maps show Caldera as being more "center", if we're talking geographically. Socially though, Union has that beat.

Oh, yeah... I mean... don't people just kinda make maps to put whatever the heck they want in the center?

[She nods, though.] Socially, though, yeah. Life's totally different now that Union is on the scene.

[ruinsandchill]

Depends on how much they want to show. There's not a lot around Union, all things considered.

[Mab gently nips Sorey's leg. Mikleo isn't here, stop being a nerd. He rubs his neck]

Sorry. But, yeah, it is. Sanctuary'd still be under Gigas's control if not for them.

No argument here. I remember how long it took to get here! I think most of the cities, ruins, and stuff like that are further away.

[She tilts her head, then she grins all over again.]

Things are better, now? I mean--you can travel! That's definitely a big improvement.

[And... up ahead is the Spearowfeathers' wagon. It's covered, but there's also a wooden counter. A painted sign of a Spearow is on the side. There's also a Gogoat standing there. He looks at Sorey and bleats.]

Oh, things are much better. We can celebrate our holidays again!

[Gogoat! Sorey waves at the Pokemon]

He with you?

Aw yeah. And see other cities'! There's some really awesome ones in Union and Caldera, too. Caldera's got one where you throw paint at people!

[She grins, before the Gogoat bleats again.] Yep. That's Mayvin. He doubles as a buddy and a cart puller.

[She walks right over, petting him on the head; Mayvin just eyes Sorey and debates telling him the meaning of exploring. Rose flips up the flap on the cart, revealing a two stack shelf of books.]

Let's see... here we go! We got some histories, some technical manuals, and one novel. The cover was funny, so I grabbed it.

But Sorey is distracted by the books, looking them over]

What's the novel about?

Yep! Everyone gets together and chucks paint at each other! It's awesome. The best.

[She pulls the novel off, then looks it over.]

It's about a guy who survived the collapse of civilization. Like he slept through it. I read a little bit, and it's really funny, but I don't think it's accurate at all. It was supposed to be popular in Gigas, though!

Huh...

[Might be interesting. And then there are the histories...]

How much for the novel and the histories?

Whoa, you want them all? Let's see...

[She starts doing some quick math in her head.]

How about twenty-five bucks? I'll give you one of the histories for free!

Really?

[Sorey grins and digs out his purse to get the money. One of those histories will make a great almost-two-months-belated birthday present for Mikleo.]
