[ Also right up in her face, so enjoy a close up of her eye - wincing a bit before she pulls back, setting it on a desk. The apartment behind her is a bit sparse, although the bed has a few stuffed animals on it (and an Azurill, that, napping, looks like one) and posters of some musicians around Union.

Ranka grins, and a Caterpie crests her head, staring down at the camera. Okay, cute head tilt, and a small wave, and ignore the blushing and butterflies in her stomach and she's golden. ]

Hi everyone! I'm Ranka Lee and I just finally got this video... function so I thought I'd just... put myself out there and say hi to everyone.

[ She can save doing better for when she's got an actual stage. ]

I'm still pretty new to Union, although I've been here for over a week. I can hardly imagine growing up here. Right now I'm just getting myself really settled in making a living, but I hope to someday, uh, break out as a... a singer.

[ And that was just kind of lame. Her grin wavers a bit. ]

This girl on my head right now - [ She pats the Caterpie. ] - is Cathy, and behind me on the bed is my adorable little Bobby. I'm also working at the Lucky Spoon as well, so I hope we get to meet all of you in person sometime! Um, see you around...

[ Video off, time to slam into the bed and blush and take deep breaths. ]

[ From the moment she'd arrived, Union had been way too much to take in - there was no preparing for it really. Caldera had always felt big, compared to its near surroundings, but the sheer size and proportions almost seemed impossible to Ranka when she'd arrived. A city of such grand scale had to have a niche for everyone, though, Ranka was convinced of that, and yet actually making a career out of her voice seemed more distant than ever.

It turned out that a few jobs singing ad jingles and looking cute for a photo here or there didn't quite pay the bills.

With that realization tucked away in the back of mind, Kaname Minamino had been a lifeline for Ranka; she had experience serving food, Kaname's parents owned the Lucky Spoon, and that made it one of the most likely places to run into her, whether she was waiting tables with the assistance of a bouncy Azurill or wolfing down a snack on break while trying to feed the little fairy at the same time, talking to it almost like she was having a coherent conversation.

Hopefully no one recognizes her from the natto thing she got saddled with the other day. ]

[ When she gets back to this, she's leaning back a little more, Cathy having moved to her shoulder. ]

Where do you come from, originally?

R-really? Thank you! It's a lovely city and I'm very happy to be here.

A-ah I should've mentioned that I'm from Caldera though, huh?

Ah, good, good. I'm pleased to hear that.

Caldera's one of our greatest allies. I'm glad that you can see our city! It's splendid when our allies get to see Union for themselves.

The world's been changing a lot lately, and I couldn't stay in Caldera when I can follow my dreams here... although my brother misses me a lot already.

Ah, good. It's important to follow our dreams.

What are you here to pursue?

I want to become a singer! It looks like it'll be difficult, but Union is the center of the entertainment world.

Our city has always loved the arts. We've had successful musical acts here. I suggest looking at our theater -- ah, and attending some of our splendid concerts!

It's a noble goal, to pursue such dreams.

Thank you! I've been working on advertisement jingles, but that's probably just a stepping stone - not that there's anything wrong with those.

Quite so. All great things must start somewhere.

It's pretty hard... so I hope I can make some connections soon.

[Palpatine laughs.]

I'm afraid not, young lady. I'm an old man and as far as I can go in my career. I'm quite content with where I am, though.

Union is such an amazing place. I wonder if I'll be able to accomplish the... musical equivalent...

Have faith in yourself. The opportunities that this city affords are endless. I'm sure you'll find your dreams here.

I'll get there... hopefully sooner rather than too much later.

[The response is from an excited looking girl with fluffy cat ears. Though for the brief awe and sparkle in her eyes she suddenly remembers herself and flusters.]

You want to be a singer? T-That's really cool!

[ Oh JEEZ those cat ears are super cute. Ranka is almost taken aback. ]

I-I'm trying anyways! It's really hard... but thanks! It helps to have friends pushing me along.

[They move and everything. They flick up as she smiles, a little less flustered.]

I'm glad! Getting out in front of a crowd is really intimidating... [and then the ears fall as she looks off to the side.] I've been trying to ...do the same actually...

[ Ranka's hair flicks up, and it's not Cathy's doing. Cathy is just sort of placidly watching. ]

I'm still getting over it... [ She brightens up, and Cathy scoots forward. ]

You mean performing?

[Oh no Cathy is cute. What a cute bug. She looks back at the camera and looks completely sheepish. She nods.]

Mm-Hm. I um. I-I play guitar. I'm not very good at playing in front of a lot of people though. I'm trying to get better at it... But! The people here are really nice.

[ Cute bugs are amazing. Ranka agrees. ]

Aaaah that's so cool! We should meet up and make music together sometime... uh, it doesn't have to be in front of a crowd either.

[!!!!]

R-Really?!

[Oh my goodness.]

That- That would be wonderful! I'd really like that!!

I-I never expected to meet another up-and-coming musician so soon... so it sounds really fun!

[ And the two of them together might reach critical cute mass. ]

What kind of music do you play?

[She is so red but she is smiling a lot also. They will take the world by storm by sheer force of their cute.]

I agree! I can't wait to hear you sing!

[Oh- that question, though.]

Um! I don't have a name for it, really, but it's a little different than what I've heard in Union. Would you like for me to play something...?

If you wanna play right now... you don't have to but I'd really like to hear it.

[ So she can judge how to sing with it, for one thing. ]

Oh- okay!

[It's okay if its in front of one person. She will set down her warp band so she can pull the guitar on her back around to sit in her lap. She places a few seconds of this without any of the singing.]

[It probably sounds a little odd since Union had yet to discover rock and roll but hey, it's pretty catchy at least!]

[She glances up once she's done. Was it good????]

Whoooa...

[ She's wide eyed at the end of it - it's definitely got an energy and beat to it that's new and exciting, and Cathy's still bobbing to it. ]

That's great! I love it!

You really think so!? I'm glad! S-So um. I would be really happy to play with you if you want.

We should set something up soon! Um, I'm not sure if I'd be able to get studio time for us, but I'm sure we can find somewhere.

Oh! I ...don't know of anywhere either... but I'll keep an ear out! I've just been playing by the fountain at the center of the city, hehe.

Well if we figure out exactly what we want to do, we could put on a little performance there, right?

I was wondering why the city seem brighter, it must be because a beauty like yourself had moved in.

[Sinbad grins faintly as he held a a hand out out of habit, as if he could take Ranka's through the screen. There's some low rumbling from his pokemon behind him that he chooses to ignore]

[ Well now she's really blushing. ]

[He laughs softly, canting his head]

I'm settled into the parts of the city I live and work around, but there's still a lot to learn.

I know what you mean, I came from a pretty isolated part of the Archipelago, the culture shock can be quite the thing.

[He hums softly at her answer]

Yeah there is, I've been here for... Gods sake, almost a year and there's still things that surprise me.

I guess I'm just gonna be impressed forever at this rate.

[He laughs softly at that, tail swaying]

Nothing wrong with that, I just think it makes life better if you're constantly finding new and amazing things.

[ Tail. It grabs her attention for a split second. ]

The world is pretty exciting, new Pokemon discovered all the time, and there's a lot to learn about myself too...

[ Trawling restaurants is one of Tendou Souji's many hobbies, so it was only a matter of time before he got to meet Ranka.

So soup spoon in hand, he gestures at the girl, calling for her service. ]

How can I help you?

[ She cocks her head a little and throws out a bright smile. ]

Natto on rice.

[ Did this store even sell that? Apparently it does now.

Tendou also has kind of a shit-eating grin on his face. Yup, he definitely saw Ranka in her costume. ]

I...

[ Her smile just immediately disintegrates, leaving her almost terrified for a fleeting second before it returns as if it had never vanished. ]

...do not believe we serve that.

Is that so? I thought I saw you advertising it on the streets. Was I mistaken?

[ From his tone of voice, he clearly doesn't think he's mistaken. ]
