Event - The White Dragon Travel Log

[It's a lengthy journey even by air, that our intrepid heroes find themselves on. The veteran fliers set a quick, but not grueling pace at the suggestion of the Valkyries. Arriving to a battleground when a god had taken the field tired was not wise, they'd said, and who could really blame them? The prospect alone of facing down one of the beasts of legend would be enough to send most men fleeing in the opposite direction, but one who was working with a human? That was all the more reason to make sure that proper care was taken on the trek. And so for a day the party traveled, a caravan of birds, dragons, reptiles and the odd flying robot making steady time across the Rolling Plains before setting down at the north-eastern edge.

The curious would find that not far from where the tents were pitched, the green hills turned jagged, the land going from verdant to a sea of dark glass. Obsidian shards spiked upwards, spires gleaming in the moonlight like razor sharp teeth, setting an ominous tone for the evening's respite. Tents were pitched, fires were lit, and the more warlike companions even began a drum circle and dance. Valkyries and shirtless Calderan volunteers, a small number of visiting mages, and other more mysterious folks all curious to see the god and to help with the relief efforts. The camp, despite the circumstances, was at least a lively one.

And then came the final day.

Over the Obsidian Flats they went, the massive shapes of Boldore and Tyranitar visible even from up in the sky. And...further perhaps even more stunningly, a gigantic lake almost large enough to call an inland sea, sprawled out below. Rivers snaked out of it all around, and the water itself was a pure crystal blue. But perhaps the most awe inspiring sight of the whole journey came once they cleared the Flats and the area around Glacier came into view. An expanse of white, thick snow covering the ground this early in the year. Arctic forests cropped up here and there, snowcapped trees and a frigid looking river marring the perfect canvas beneath. And more Pokemon , of course. Gigantic Avalugg shook the ground below, and a new species plodded along, chewing amiably on the trees, largely unconcerned by the humans overhead, and the occurrences in the distance.

Along the coast a city was in flames, people streaming out of its ruined gates, desperately fleeing along the rivers before whatever it was came back. Smoke curled up along the skyline, burned hamlets and outlying settlements that'd already been destroyed.

It seems like they weren't too late, and it in the moment of respite there was a chance for our heroes to at least get their bearings and prepare for the Dragon God's return...]

[OOC: We will be opening some of these areas for bonding within the next few days for everyone who is taking part in the expedition.]

Huh? [He looks towards Felix, sensing honesty in his words.]

I don't have to do it alone... [He repeats the sentence a few more times in his head.] Yeah, you're right! There's a lot of people here that came to help, strangers, bearcquaintances and friends alike! [He casts a glance toward the burning city.] I-no, we can do it!

[His determination has now skyrocketed.] We're gonna kick those grizzlies out of here! Rawr!

[Over the last year, Feliks has gotten really, really used to doing big, painful, difficult things on his own when he has to. Working together with everyone makes for a nice change.]

[It's also sort of rare for him to meet people whose reactions are more sudden and dramatic than his own. He sort of wonders if talking to Teddie is what talking to him feels like for most people.]

Exactly! One of us might not be strong enough to handle everything, but we don't need to be if we can use our strengths together!

[He actually, literally sparkles when he's happy, in red and pink and gold and white. It looks vaguely fiery, like some kind of tiny glittery-looking fireworks are going off around him.]

They won't know what'll hit 'em when we bearrive! [He nods enthusiastically. He would of given a thumbs up, but there's no way Teddie is going to keep his paws off his ride, he doesn't want to fall.]

Wow, I'm really all fired up now! But by the looks of it not as much as you! You've got some literal fireworks going on there.

Huh?

[He seems to only at that point notice the sparkles at all.]

--Right, that! It happens sometimes. Like, Fire/Fairy type, you know?

I had a feeling there was some sort of fire typing involved! [He's no analyst, but it's not too difficult to guess someone's typing. Sometimes.]

It's really neat though. It definitbearyly gives you an incredible flare! Heehee! [Fire jokes. Heh.]

[Fire puns AND bear puns! Must be his lucky day or something.]

Right? The fire typing's usually pretty easy to guess.

[They're not a type very well known for their subtlety.]

But the fairy typing isn't so bearnounced! I bet you and any of the other fairy types could catch some of those grizzlies by surprise if they end up being dragon types too. [He's hoping, since it would make things a bit easier. Maybe.]

Not gonna lie, Dragon-types are pretty fun.

[By which he means "being a little guy and beating up on a type that's used to being stronger than everyone is fun."]

I wouldn't know about that. I haven't been up close to a real dragon bearfor. [He doesn't really consider the Noibat he encountered a long time ago much of a dragon. Yeah it was a dragon type, but the thing was tiny! What made it worse was that it actually scared him out of his fur, and there was no way he was going to mention that to Felix. That's just way too embearassing.]

Not even, like, a Dratini or anything?

[Feliks has a couple of Dragon-types in his party, though none of the really big, scary-looking ones. Then again, it's pretty easy for a Fairy-type to not be intimidated by them.]

Nope! This bear has been dragon free! Well, unless you count some of the dragons around us now? [He takes a glance around to spot a few of them. He hasn't gotten near them, but he's seen them around.]

I'm not sure if you would count seeing them as getting up close.

[Feliks gives him a little smile, then pets the Altaria he's riding on.]

I mean, you're pretty close to Fryderyk right now?

[He looks more like a Flying type than a dragon, admittedly... Curious to see how he'd react, Feliks taps on his Warp Band and calls out a Dragonair, who expands her "wings" and circles around them curiously.]

What is it, Mama?

[She might have taken the whole "imprinting on the person who hatches you" thing to a bit of an extreme.]

That's a dragon!? [He's flabbergasted. But it's so fluffy and cute, not as cute as Teddie of course, but it's still cute!

AND WHAT DID HE JUST BRING OUT? WHAT THE HECK. Well she looks more like a dragon, but definitely not the ferocious kind! WAIT DID SHE JUST CALL FELIX MAMA?]

YOU HAVE A KID!? [Humans having Pokechildren what.]

[He can't speak Pokespeak, man, he doesn't know what they go on about half the time.]

...I mean, I hatched her?

[Don't worry Felix, Teddie will be your handy dandy translator!]

She just called you mama! [Excuse him while he flails at least one arm.] This is the first time in my bear life I've ever seen a Pokemon think their trainer was their mom!

You hatched her!? That explains everything!

[Feliks bursts out laughing, hard enough that Fryderyk sings out a little warning to him not to lose his grip this high up.]

Oh, gods, you're telling me! I kinda wondered why she was always so weird about new Pokemon joining us...

[Didn't want to not be the baby anymore, apparently.]

Weird how? [He calms down enough to stop flailing, since now this has piqued his curiosity. Why would anyone act weird about new Pokemon joining them?]

She'd kinda sulk. Like, especially if they were little or cute!

[The Dragonair makes a mournful little sound.]

You're my mama! What do you need more babies for?

Sounds like she's jealous of the other Pokemon. She's even going on about why you need more of 'em for! [He's one to talk. He'd get upset if there was another handsome bear around stealing all the ladies hearts! He would have a fit about that, for there can only be one Teddie!]

[But he's laughing, reaching out to pat the Dragonair's head as she glides through the air parallel to him.]

I'm glad that my Marowak friend isn't like that! It would probearly end poorly for any new pals I'd find along the way. [Bernard could be quite aggressive sometimes.]

She always gets over it sooner or later! Just takes a little getting used to having new friends around, I guess.

I suppose. Though I can't bearmagine what it would be like to deal with someone always fussing over you whenever you make a new friend. [If you were trying to score with someone, that's a completely different story.]

I actually think it's kinda cute? That she loves me so much, I mean.

Cute huh. [Teddie places a paw to his chin and thinks this over a moment, getting an idea. Yes, he too will try this!]

Hmm, I think I get it now! [He holds a closed paw over his heart and begins to speak in the most dramatic way possible.] A heart filled with jealousy over those that would dare attempt to take the undying love of someone dearest to them! A battle beartween rivals! A race to confess their unbridled love before their youth slips away from them! Will the path ahead be full of heartbreak? Or will it have unexpected friendships? [Don't mind him...]
