Case File 001 [Video | Action]
Video
[Residents currently on the Warp Band network would be greeted by the face of a sharply dressed young person over the feed. With the quirky hat and the short hair style, the person had an equal chance of being male or female-- the clean lines of the dress shirt and tie didn't help matters either. The sun was bright that morning, and it took the stranger a moment to adjust their angle to account for the glare flashing off the lens.]
Good morning, Union.
[The stranger nodded briskly in greeting, offering a smile that was equal parts friendly and professional to the people tuning in.]
I imagine that we're all busy getting started with the day, so I'll keep this brief: I'm Naoto Shirogane, a detective from Caldera. I've just arrived, so does anyone else from the north mind filling me in on what's been happening?
Also-- I'm still in business if anyone wishes for my services. Just contact me on the network.
[And, promptly, the young detective closes the signal out.]
Action
[That afternoon would greet people in Union with one of two sights: the first is that of a young Ralts who had gotten separated from his trainer, staring longingly at the freshly baked buns that were cooling off within sight of the bakery window. He knew that humans like that green, papery stuff to trade for food and goods-- and he didn't have any-- but that didn't dampen the longing for the buns any less.
The second is that of Naoto herself, walking briskly down the streets in her platform boots, ignoring the smack of leather on concrete as she searched the streets. Some of the noise was intentional-- she wanted her target to know where she was, if they were to find her first.
On occasion she might peer at an unfurled map to get an idea of her general location. Other times she could be found staring down the street with a crisp, analytic look in her eyes. Anyone wandering close by might here her murmur something under her breath:]
Where could he have run off to this time?

That is fine, as always :3

[And has there been a lot of it.]
:3c
[She nodded briskly, appreciative of the fact that this stranger understood her intentions already.]
There's no denying that the world is starting to change since Union stepped outside of it's walls. I'm curious about what could happen, both in the short term and the long term.

By the way, I'm Yosuke, Yosuke Hanamura. But I have to ask, how come you waited this long to come here? Stuff's been happening for a while now.
no subject
Part of my reasons for taking so long to get here was because I had unfinished business in Caldera. I needed to settle some affairs with the Rock Legion and make sure everything was secure before I left. My family has been working in investigations for a long time and, although I trust everything in my Grandfather's hands, I still worry from time to time.
It's hard to leave what you already know.
no subject
So your family has been working in the biz for a long time now. How long have you been at it? [The boy on the other side seemed young to already be a detective too.
no subject
Naoto smiled, a little embarrassed by everyone asking so many personal questions of her.]
That's a hard question to answer, Yosuke. I've always been good at solving puzzles, so my grandfather started letting me assist him when I was very young, and I've been at it for long enough to have a decent reputation and portfolio in Caldera.
[Though it would be wise to note that Naoto's definition of 'decent' is someone else's 'stellar.']

[He thinks- having a detective like this guy around would be pretty helpful. It might be worth asking Naoto what he thinks about all this.]
If you want, I could fill you in on some things. You wanna meet me somewhere?
no subject
[It was stated with complete seriousness.]
Where would you like to meet? I have an open schedule today, besides some housekeeping.
no subject
[He hadn't thought about it this far. Where do you take a detective who's here doing work to talk over things?]
Well...there's a coffee shop next door to Junes. It's in the business district, you can't miss it.
no subject
That sounds excellent. I'll be there shortly.
no subject
[He hangs up on Naoto, ending the feed on the Warp Band and quickly throws his shoes on to head towards the coffee shop. It's not a long walk, as his dad made sure they lived near where they worked, standing outside of the shop to meet the young detective.
He leans his back against the brick of the building, checking his Warp Band for any texts or other messages he might be getting at the time (which is none) while he waits.]
no subject
Not that it deterred her any. Eyes lighting on Yosuke, she quickly cut her way through the crowd.]
Yosuke Hanamura, I presume? [She asked on approach, a friendly glint in her eyes.]
no subject
[Is his response, looking down at the tiny detective. The Warp Band is put away, and he thrusts his hands into his pockets.]
no subject
[Deadpan. Don't make her deal with this stuff, or she will arrest you.]
no subject
I just was expecting someone a lot taller! Uh, let's go in. [He hurriedly opens the door to the shop, leading inside. He's not making a good first impression and he knows it. Hopefully the guy won't arrest him for something stupid...!
The shop is small, and Yosuke walks right up to the counter. He's been here before, and doesn't need to look up at the menu sitting on the back wall behind the cashier. He orders his own drink, and stands off to the side to wait for Naoto and his order to come up.]
no subject
Yosuke was safe. Mostly.
Naoto placed her order as well, taking a moment to peruse the menu for something cold and reasonably priced. While money wasn't much of a problem for her, she still didn't want to overspend on frivolous little things like drinks over a friendly meeting.]
All right then, Yosuke, [She said once she paid for her order and joined the teen.] What did you want to tell me about?
no subject
Getting right to it. Alright. [Taking a breath, he starts with a fairly serious tone-]
See, this is what's happened since I got to Union, and from what I've learned from others.
[He goes on to tell Naoto about Sanctuary, the Homunculi, his and Yukiko's meeting with Suicune, the little he knows about the Enhanced, and the attack on Citadel months ago and how he finds it mysterious that so many legendary pokemon have shown up lately. He also mentions going out to find Gigas's city.]
And that about sums it up...
no subject
...as I suspected, a great deal has been happening in such a short period-- and it really does sound like Union is at the center of it all. The prospect of an actual war with Gigas is problematic, as is many of the othe things that you mentioned.
No wonder some people here seem unsettled. And, after hearing all of that, who could blame them?
no subject
But Union isn't like Citadel, or even Caldera, and I wonder how everything is gunna hit the fan. I gotta admit, the culture here is pretty different- some of the crap Gigas has pulled would result in death if the people of the plains and Citadel had anything to say about it.
no subject
[And she wasn't joking. While she was far from the front lines due to the nature of her skills, she had seen everything that had happened during those battles in closer detail than she had ever wanted. A full on melee was no place for a slender steel-type who specialized in ranged combat...but, it wasn't as if she was without support.]
I personally am curious about how Union will respond to everything, which is part of why I've decided to throw my lot in here instead of in my home. This is a fascinating city, wouldn't you say?
no subject
[Let alone let Sanctuary just keep doing what they were doing.]
no subject
Clearly, the only sort of people who would allow those things are people from a culture that has yet to become jaded. They were Isolationist for most of the last five centuries, from what I've heard. Everything here, good and bad, must be strange and new to them.
